I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

I loved this story. Styx, the new Anasso is hott because everyone knows great amounts of power with a heart is hott and, Darcy is very sweet.. I love the way their relationship grows!!! The story line is great and I am glad I didn't stop reading after the first book...... One thing that does bug me is that all the men have super long long hair I know some women like long hair men and while I like my men with shorter hair I can appreciate a man who is hott with long locks but to his freakin knees really is he rapunzel lol!

OMG! This is the third book by Alexandra Ivy in her 'Guardians of Eternity' series and I've loved every one of 'em. The first was "When Darkness Comes", followed by "Embrace The Darkness", and now "Darkness Everlasting".

This series has (hot) weres, (mega-hot) vampires, gods, goddesses, magic, and gargoyles (with a darn good sense of humor)...ooohhh, and really scorching sex!! The world this author creates is believable and there's enough difference to set her world apart from the glut of paranormals hitting the shelves today.

Styx, the newly-appointed Anasso of the vampires and ruler of all "demons" (paranormal creatures) is trying to broker a tenuous peace among the demons. His current problem is the weres. When he hears of a woman the were king is searching for...he finds her and kidnaps her to use as a bargaining chip.

Salvatore is King of the weres who are slowly dying off. He has spent his life using not just his strength to reign, but his smarts as well by hiring researchers to try and produce genetically altered offspring that can carry were-babies to term. His greatest success became his greatest failure when the only four surviving altered female children were spirited away. He's been searching for over 30 years now and finally has a good lead. He will find this woman, mate her, and breed strong weres to save his race.

Darcy Smith had a horrid childhood until she turned 16. She was always "different" and that meant she was shuffled from foster home to foster home every time her 'differences' became known. She hit the streets at 16, and now at 30 she still looks 18 and lives hand to mouth. She's minding her own business bartending and the next thing she knows...she's mated to the head vamp and the were king is trying to kidnap her. What's next?

I am loving this series. Usually a paranormal romance series has a plot where the gardians/enforcers are fighting an evil enemy that wants to take over the world and expose them to humans, while each fighter find their mates. But that's not the case with this series, here each couple fight their own problems and we frequently see the characters from the previous books helping each other. It's quite awesome.

I don't have much to say besides the fact that I am enjoying the series.

Ugh...I didn't enjoy this one at all. Mostly missing even the low-level snark that made the previous entries in the series bearable and off-set the predictability, the tics that amused me in the preceding two flat-out annoyed me in this.

Styx is the tall, dark and humourless Anasso (sounds like 'an asshole', a far better title for him) of the vampires who kidnaps Darcy (a vegetarian who says cripes a lot), calls her angel constantly, cups her face and gets on my tits. The many sex scenes which the book exists for could have been lifted from either of its predecessors and the 'mating' bollocks annoyed me even more as it was explained to Darcy by Abby - rendering the vampire physically incapable of so much as desiring another and freezing them at the peak of their love for you. Unlike the ladies in these books I don't find this neutering remotely appealing and think a partner into you through free will would be far more attractive. It's almost as bad as the brain-rape Styx attempts on Darcy and is almost immediately forgiven for because, y'know, he's hot (something else I take issue with. Any man who wears leather pants, silk shirts and thigh-high boots is not a sex god but a complete tool).

As far as the plot with the Weres, I couldn't really have cared any less. I'll probably still finish the series as I'm a bit of a completist, but hope that the tongue gets put firmly back in cheek.

“I will return to you,” he swore against her lips. “I will always return to you.”

Styx, the new Anasso, and Darcy were my favorite so far!! My. Favorite.

I just realized after 3 books that once this author picks a term of endearment that’s it. In this one it’s angel. Angel this. Angel that. Angel. Angel. Angel. I never realized how annoying it could be. The first book was Lover, the second book was... I completely forgot. And in this one he calls her Angel. It’s not even important it’s just so repetitive.

Anyways, this one had very steamy scenes. I think it was all the blood sharing. I dig the bitting. I mean they are vampires. I liked that Viper and Dante make an appearance. There was action like always but this time a twist with evil werewolves. Sorry, the twist came from a werewolf not because they’re fighting them. I liked it very much. It felt more threatening. The word/term “Breeder” was used and I was just mad. I really liked Darcy and I hope she finds All in all it was pretty good.

Can’t ask for better!

Darcy Smith is a bartender among several other jobs. She does these just to stay afloat; having not finished high school, good jobs are hard to come by. She does what she needs to, to survive. Having been in foster care since a baby, she’d been moved less than every two years, coming to believe herself a freak. finally running away as an early teen. She isn’t like normal people. When she gets hurt, she heals two quickly to be human. She’s stronger and faster than a normal human. At age eighteen, she stopped aging. She believes she’s a freak. And for that reason, doesn’t let anyone close to her - no meaningful friendships, no meaningful relationships. She’s alone - and until she can figure out why she is the way she is, prefers it that way.

Styx has a problem. Seems the prince of weres is in Chicago, where he isn’t supposed to be. He’s outside his hunting territory, and Styx wants to know why. News travels, and Styx finds out he’s after a girl - Darcy Smith. He plans to get to her first and use her as a hostage, and as a bargaining chip with Salvatore. What he didn’t plan on was wanting Darcy for himself. And just when Salvatore almost has his hands on her, Styx beats him to it.

Salvatore Guiliani is desparate. Turns out, Darcy is one of four missing sisters, all who had gone missing shortly after birth and believed to have been sold on the black market. Their DNA had been ‘toyed’ with, which surpresses the wanting/needing to shift. The weres need Darcy and her sisters because of it. Having been forced by the vampires to boundaries is slowly killing their race. Purebloods are almost non-existint, as are curs, and if they have Darcy and her sisters, who’s shifting has been surpressed, they’d be able to carry children full term, replenishing their race.

Styx treats her wonderfully, never making her feel like a hostage or a bargaining chip. He cares for her a great deal - Darcy feels a kinship with him, can feel his loneliness. When Darcy finds out that Salvatore wants nothing more than a breeder, the thought sickens her stomach. And she won’t be pushed, for she’s fallen in love with Styx, and no one, not even the mother she never knew she had, can change her mind or heart, regardless if she is a were…

Oh, did I like this one. I adore the series and can’t wait to get my hands on the next novel. While is seems that most men have that caveman attitude, Styx learns quickly that Darcy will not be pushed around. She isn’t one to be told what to do. Believing she is human, he thinks her fragile and vulnerable, until Darcy shows him otherwise.

She doesn’t back down from an argument, and gives as good as she gets. Styx isn’t used to that. He’d lived the life of a monk for so long, celibacy and all, and is finding the stirrings of desire in him fresh and new. Darcy surprises him more and more, and what surprise could be the biggest … when they end up mated.

I loved watching Darcy and Styx fall for each other. It was the sweetest thing. Action scenes where well written and spaced, love scenes erotic enough to make any reader hot under the collar and breathless. The author has a way with her descriptions of sucking (no pun intended) you into the story and you’ll have a hard time letting go. I think the best part was when Darcy managed to convince both Styx and Salvatore that everything can work out if they compromised, teaching them both a lesson. This novel sets up the next few novels in the story really well. Truly a series in the paranormal romance genre you don’t want to miss.

I seriously can't understand why everybody seems to love this series...

First of all I just can't really enjoy a series without a meaningful and well-elaborated plot. To understand and comprehend things is vital when reading paranormal romance. When I'm starting a new paranormal romance book, I like to read details about the world where the story develops (about its different species and customs). Depleted of that, without an original and mind-blowing plot, I just find series lacking of something. There are hundreds of books about vampires already written, but for me those authors who are able to create something different form the rest are those which are really worth reading.

For me, this series is exactly just like hundreds of others out there. It's not that it's bad, just that in a month I wont remember a thing about it. I thought it was getting better but this book was just more of the same for me. I just can't get attached to any of the characters... none of them really get to me. The way the books are written... I don't know, things just seem fake to me. I just can't really get into the story. At least not like with some other series I have read, where you completely forget about reality to immerse into the story.

Apart from this, I need to clarify that the books are not bad. I like the story, I'm just not crazy about it. Maybe my main problem is that while the books are supposed to be about the most powerful creatures on Earth, after reading their books you just see them as ordinary beings. I like my alpha heroes to have an aura of power about them, to inflect fear in those they need to, to be brave and have a good nature when they have to. I may be asking a lot but I have read books with heroes like the ones I have just described, so now I can't be satisfied with less than that.

If I had read this this series (and Dark Carpathians by Christine Feehan) when I was knew to this PNR/UF genre, I may have enjoyed them more. But after reading Ward, Larissa Ione, Adrian, Ilona Andrews and other similar heavy hitters, I fail to see the strong appeal of this series. It's pretty light and simple.

In this novel, the Annaso (Vampire King) Styxx is being challenged by the werewolves, who have left their authorized hunting ground and encroached on other territories. In an attempt to put them in their place, the Styxx decides instead of wiping them of the face of the earth, he will bargain with the shifters.

So he decides to find something that seems important to the wereKing Salvatore Guilliani, and use it as a bargain chip. This tool comes in the form of a bartender named Darcy. Something is special about her, but no one seems to know what. But once Styxx kidnaps her, he can't seem to let her go. But he also needs to know what makes her so important to the weres.
So begins the battle of his desires versus what's best for the Annaso's people.

Again, it was an okay read. Just kind of basic in my opinion. Nothing to write home about.

First of all, I have to know, do women really find men with hair down to their knees attractive or even long hair in general? I love the romance of these novels, but these men would repulse me which makes the story a little less appealing. And don't get me started on the clothes. Men in satin and gold? Or even capes? Really? That alone should have told those woman to run the opposite direction.

Also, the plots are becoming almost identical - arrogant domineering male finds clueless strong female who needs the arrogant male for her survival. She rejects him, but ultimately gives into to otherworldly good looks which just can't see. I did enjoy the vegetarian werewolf. Can't say it's worth the read.

Duty and honor, give way to passion in Darkness Everlasting.
Darcy has never fit well into the world, but it isn't until she is kidnapped by vampire leader Styx that she discovers another world, a hidden world where her strength and ability to heal don't mark her as a freak forced to live a lonely existence to hide her otherness -- a world of vampires, demons and werewolves, a world where Darcy is a treasure sought after by the werewolf King Salvatore Giuliani. Styx ever dedicated to his people and his duty initially seeks to use Darcy as a bargaining chip to force the werewolves back under vampire rule, but almost immediately this controlled sensible immortal finds himself inflamed by Darcy's presence and consumed by the desire to protect this spunky, kindhearted woman and soon Styx realizes that he will never be able to let her go. But Darcy is too valuable to Salvatore and his people, Salvatore seeks to make her his queen, and will stop at nothing to possess her. When Salvatore attempts to lure Darcy to his side with the offer of information on the mother and sisters, she never knew existed, will Darcy choose the promise of the family she's always longed for or the powerful Styx who's passion and hidden loneliness calls to her heart and soul?

Styx's attraction to Darcy is immediate and powerful and part of the appeal of the story is how quickly and completely he falls. Knowing from the previous book how much duty and honor have ruled Styx's life and that his commitment to his people has always been his primary focus, the shift we see in Styx as Darcy's protection becomes his driving force underscores the power of his feelings for Darcy and his willingness to let her choose, even at the risk of losing her, shows the true depth of his love. Salvatore is suave and beautiful in his own right with the animal attraction thing going for him. Despite the brutal authority Salvatore must maintain over his wolves who have difficulty controlling their more savage nature, Salvatore's honor kept him from forcing Darcy though the price of offering her a choice was high. This along with his secret desire for a soulmate, a dream in conflict with his duty to insure the survival of his race, kept him from being unappealing. But you probably may have guessed by now who I'd have picked if I got to choose.

Though Styx and many of the supporting characters appeared in previous books - Viper Shay and Levitt in Embrace The Darkness (Guardians of Eternity, Book 2) and Abby in When Darkness Comes (Guardians of Eternity, Book 1) Darkness Everlasting still works as an enjoyable standalone read. Ivy includes a brief teaser for her next book in her Guardians of Eternity series at the end of this but unlike the previous two books where she set up for her next hero - she had me dying for Viper's and Styx's stories -- her intriguing new hero wasn't introduced in this book.

Another Great installment in this series. Styx the mysterious, sexy, misunderstood Annaso of the Vamps is utterly charming. Especially in his naive belief that no one especially a woman, can best him where it counts the most, HIS Heart. Awesome story. Great action. Styx is everything an Alpha male needs to be, but is just as strong in the love and loyalty he displays to those who are dear to him. He truly has the heart of a king, and this makes him being a pain in the a**, easier to overlook. Again I loved Levet the Gargoyle. He just reminds me of a really irritating child that ur stuck with having to baby sit and ur not getting paid LOL! But he has such a genuine heart that u can't help but come to like him. Viper, my man, is as always wonderful in this one. Especially his knowing and taunting wisdom towards Styx when it comes to his lack of understanding about the women they are mated to. I really like Darcy. She was strong. And given the situations she found herself in, she handled herself. Without compromising who she is or faltering to her fears even though at times she was utterly terrified.

So far Darcy and Shay are my favorite females in this series. I could not stand Dante's mate in his book. But with her limited roles in these other books, Dante's mate seems pretty cool.

Book 3 was as awesome as the previous books. If you love Alpha Vamps, and sassy heroines this is a series to read.

And, to my delight this story brought the previous heroines in to play..... ""Viper soothed." "This smells far more of Abby and my own mate." "Why would they interfere in vampire business? ".... "Because they are women. ""

Loved this story. Excellent read.

I liked this as much as the 2nd book and more than the first, maybe more than the 2nd. In this one they bring the wolves in the picture. The wolves are a dying breed and have there grievances. The vampires control them but they've decided that they must push back or die out. Styxx, who is the head of the vampires, the Anasso, decides to force the King of the werewolves to talk to him, and try to control him, by taking a human that Styxx knows Salvatore has been searching for. But of course soon after meeting Darcy Smith, Styxx knows he cannot use Darcy in this manner. Now Darcy, who has been on her own for years, has two "protectors", maybe? or men that want to control her. Darcy just wants answers and be able to ask her questions.

The two had chemistry and it was a good story line to go with the romance so over all a pretty good PNR. 7 out of 10 but bumped it up.

This is the third book in the "Guardians of Eternity" series by Alexandra Ivy. The series has gotten better in each book and I look forward to reading book four. The series offers a verity of supernatural creatures, hot and sexy men and strong beautiful women. The world the author creates is believable and adventures.

In “Darkness Everlasting” we get humor, romance, action, and more.

Styx is a warrior vampire whom we are introduced to in book two “Embrace The Darkness” and we get his story in book three “Darkness Everlasting”. Styx is the newly-appointed Anasso ruler of the vampires and all demons (paranormal creatures). He is trying to keep the peace between vamps and weres. He has learned that the new leader of the weres Salvatore has been searching for a women and he hopes he can use this to leverage peace.
Styx is more a warrior, but now that he is Anasso he must become a leader and think about his people first. He has kept himself hidden for so long in the shadows that his lack of modern day knowledge of the human world and women is funny to read. As well as him comeing to the realization that Darcy is his true mate.

Darcy Smith is a very independent woman who had a hard life and has learned to survive on her own. She has always been “different” thou she does not know why and this “different" has made her life more difficult, but she has learned to adapt. Her life is turned upside down when a strange man comes into the bar she works at. She has a feeling he is not safe. When she tries to get away she is captured by Styx and her life becomes entangled in the demon world. I enjoyed her independence and the struggle she goes through trying to come to terms with what she is, the family that she has out there, and her feelings for Styx.

I recommend reading the “Guardians of Eternity” series. The first book is hard to get into, but the series gets better as it goes along. I enjoy the world, characters, humor, romance, and adventure created by Alexandra Ivy.

Styx didn't quite get off of my sh*t list from the last book, but by the second chapter of this one, I loved him. And I love how Alexandra Ivy keeps her other characters in the current book-I'd hate to lose sight of Dante, Abby, Viper and Shay. And Levet, the 3 foot gargoyle :)
Styx kidnaps Darcy to use as a bargaining chip against the werewolves who are leaving their hunting grounds as a bid for power.
Darcy is important to Salvatore, the new were king, but no one, least of all Darcy, knows why. Darcy was put into foster care as an infant and at 30 (but looking 18) she has been taking care of herself her whole life. She is strong, heals quickly, and is...different. Oh, and did I forget to mention she's a Pureblood? She doesn't know it yet, but she is Salvatore's consort-destined to be queen of the werewolves.
But she and Styx have sparks hitting left and right, and his monastic lifestyle took an abrupt change. Between becoming the Anasso (vampire king) and meeting Darcy (his mate) things got interesting.
I liked Salvatore, hated Darcy's mother, and loved Styx and Darcy. I hope that Salvatore gets a story. There are 3 more I have to read, and I hope he's one of those books...you don't like him at first, but then you like him, feel bad for him, hate the Purebloods and curs, and then want him to get his own female. But Darcy has 3 sisters to track down, so maybe they'll have a shot with super hot Italian werewolf King Salvatore.
But I digress-Styx saved Darcy and they have a happily ever after.

Styx and Darcy's story was fabulous.
Styx became the new Anasso when he and Viper were forced to kill the old one to save Shay's life, and because of his drug addiction and his madness.

Now Styx is the new leader of the vampires and he is having a problem with the werewolves. In his attempt to resolve the issue, he kidnaps the woman the Salvatore, head of the werewolves, has been searching for. He hoped to use her as bait to make Salvatore listen to reason.

What he didn't count on was Darcy. She appeared human but she is so much more and Styx found himself tied in knots and unable to control himself.

Darcy was not happy being kidnapped and had no problems expressing her displeasure to Styx. As large and intimidating as he might be she had no real fear of him. She found herself strangely drawn ... turned on by him. Even when she didn't want to be.

Another wonderful installment in this series. Styx and Darcy are perfect for each other. They are the perfect example of "opposites attract". She is his foil in every way. She small where he's huge. She has a kind tender heart where he is a warrior. He is strong and deadly where she is unsure of her own power and he is arrogant and she shakes that arrogance.

They were a fun read and the evolution of their relationship throughout the book was quite entertaining. Poor Styx never knew what hit him. Lol

Okay, these books are getting more interesting as i keep reading ahead. Not just interesting but better, and full of action as well as passion.

The concept of Weres in this story is different from others and its very unromantic, kind of brutal as they use females for just producing children.
Its not fair to the females.
I got fond of Styx and Darcy, they are a good match for each other. Also Levet the gargoyle's character is very intriguing. His sense of humor is good.
So yeah i want to keep reading ahead.

"Gods ..." he whispered, his hand shifting to the back of her head. "If you knew how much I want you, you would be running from me in terror."

We met powerful vampire Styx in the previous book as the leader of the lethal Ravens, the guardians of the Anasso who is the leader of the vampires. And after the death of the previous Anasso the title was passed onto Styx, who is ruthless in his determination to protect his people. And currently his biggest problem is the Weres who has left their assigned hunting grounds and come to Chicago for unknown reasons. Reasons Styx is determined to find out, even if he has to kidnap an innocent woman to use as leverage. But being near Darcy threatens to derail all of Styx’s plans.

After a childhood of foster homes and being seen as different, as a freak, Darcy Smith is used to being alone. And when she’s kidnapped by a man who looks like an Aztec god, and who claims to be a vampire, Darcy is determined to escape. But when Styx proves to her that he’s not human, Darcy is relieved and curious to find someone who is different, just like her. But no matter how intense her attraction to Styx is, she knows she can’t trust him when his people will always come first for him.

But the reason for why the king of Weres is so desperate to find Darcy threatens that which has become to mean everything to Styx - Darcy who has become his obsession, his salvation.

By the gods, he was the master of all vampires. Demons around the world quaked at the mention of his name. There was none who would stand in his path. And yet, the slightest hint of longing from this woman had him scrambling to please her.
It was downright pathetic.

Styx was such an interesting character ever since he was introduced in the previous book. He’s quite ruthless when it comes to what is best for his people, and quite willing to risk and use anyone in order to do so. In the previous book he almost sacrificed Shay to the previous Anasso and in the beginning of this book he was prepared to use Darcy as a bargaining chip with the Weres, not caring the reason for why the Weres wanted Darcy so badly. He really didn’t seem to have a heart and it was fascinating to see the effect Darcy had on him, slowly making him realise there were some things more important that his responsibility to his race. It was so much fun seeing the powerful and arrogant Styx fall head over heels for the tiny Darcy. Styx who couldn’t understand why Viper risked everything for his mate Shay in the previous book, and who thought he was immune to falling in love. I loved how from the first moment he met her he needed to be near her, and being clueless about why he felt so intense about her. It was hilarious :-D I also loved how baffled he was with Darcy’s continued refusal of everything he said and ordered, because he’s so used to being obeyed and feared.

Even a woman who tried to think the best of everyone shouldn't be pining for the man holding her prisoner.
That was crazy. Just... crazy.

Darcy was a great heroine. So compassionate, kind and optimistic. She has always longed for a family, to have people she could love, and in the end she found it in Styx. I loved that she was the one person who understood Styx, who saw that he was not as coldhearted as everyone thought, that she understood and respected how serious he took his responsibility as the Anasso of vampires, his need to protect his people.

The truth of the matter was that his life was different when Darcy was close.
He was more than a grim guardian, or all-powerful leader of the vampires.
He was ... a man.

I loved the romance, how possessive and protective Styx was over Darcy. And the true mate bond in this series just makes it even more special. How once mated the hero is totally committed to the heroine for life, there would never be anyone else for him. And the mating tattoos that appear once the couple is mated is awesome.

Once again the secondary characters were wonderful, especially Levet, the three-foot gargoyle. The plot was great, trying to figure out why Salvatore wanted Darcy so desperately, and figuring out what Darcy really was.

This is such an excellent PNR series, and I’m totally loving it. Highly recommended.

This installment is the first of the series where I was engaged and intrigued by the characters before the end of the first chapter, granted that engagement had everything to do with Styx, the new Anasso (top of the sups food chain here). As Styx is settling into his new position, there's resistance from the werewolves led by Salvatore. The were's have decided they aren't going to follow the old rules and laws anymore, they have something else at stake. To force the weres into talks, Styx decides to capture the human, Darcy Smith, that Salvatore seems to be obsessed with as a bargaining chip. Darcy who always knew she was different is comfortable under Styx' care, after adjusting to being kidnapped, because she doesn't have to hide. Darcy isn't exactly sure Styx is mentally stable since he believes in demons, vampires and werewolves but he does make her feel safe. Styx isn't sure why he needs to make allowances for Darcy but takes Viper's advice anyway and treats her kindly. However, all bets are off when Styx begins to feel for Darcy and starts to think of her as more than a bargaining chip.

I enjoyed Styx's complete bewilderment both of being out in the world and his attraction to Darcy. Salvatore initially appeared to be a bullying thug with his only redeeming quality was his driving desire to save his people. He got a little smoother/slicker but his motivation didn't change, making him seem consistent but a little flat. Knowing that the weres have more to offer, I hope to see Salvatore in future books as well as Sophia. Rounding out the read, Levet brought his gargoyle mojo while Abby & Shay celebrated the expansion of the female faction and Dante & Viper got more testosterone to count on.

There were a couple of head-scratching moments such as Styxx not being able to determine Darcy's "parentage", I know it was explained away but not really. And where were the ravens? On vacation maybe?!? They were a gimmick put to good use during the last installment and would have been good in a couple of scenes here, I missed them. These vampires are hundreds if not thousands of years old and they only know one vampire each to turn to during their troubles?!?! Really? On a problem this big? At least a city full of vampires are at Viper's disposal and a country full are at Styx's and the minutiae of this adventure tells us only the two of them with a very brief cameo from Santiago. Kudos to the imagination of slowing expanding this world as it incorporates Goddess, Witches, Werewolves, Demons, Vampires, Gargoyles, Sprites, etc) all great fodder for the paranormal world but I'm not yet hooked on the series although I see potential in it becoming a really good if not great series read. While I enjoyed this outing more than its predecessors, the series doesn't yet feel as if it has a firm foundation, just a very fragile and clumsy daisy chain.

Another step up on the Guardians of Eternity ladder. As this series improves, it does get better and better. This may be because Ivy is improving herself, or because we are simply learning more about this world and therefore being sucked deeper into it as time progresses.

Still a very light weight read, great for the holiday period, nothing to really challenge you nor make you gasp for breath. This is not a series I am likely to read again and again like the Karen Chance novels, but it is a cute little vampire sexy romp.

The continuity between the books is still evident, this time we concentrate on Styx (The Anasso or leader of the vampires who helped Viper save Shay last time) and a new character Darcy. A nice little romance, Styx softening and opening up as the story progressed.

These are very much Mill & Boons style romances, a little kitsch, but entertaining all the same.

I'm giving this one a 6/10 again: "Good light-weight read, well done" on the NBRS.

Great book! I am really liking this series. It's one that I just picked up out of curiousity and it has turned out to be a good one. This particular book is in the running as favorite of the three I've read so far. I love Styx and the introduction of the werewolves added something new to this world of the Guardians of Eternity and I hope we get to see how Salvatore saves his pack. Even though he was the "bad guy" in this book, I have a feeling there is something more to him, something honorable that has been forced out of him in his desperation to save the wolves. I would like to see more of the werewolves, but I certainly love those sexy, arrogant vampires!

This is the story of Darcy and Styx (the head of the vampires). Darcy happened to be created specifically for the purpose of breeding future pureblood wares. She is a ware that cannot shift. Salvatore, King of Wares, wants her to continue their species which is slowly dying out... not that he's realy into her. Styx needs to keep her from Salvatore and Darcy's mother, who is about as maternal as a snake, because he thinks she is his true mate. So while I enjoyed the story it left me with a little bit of a bitter taste in my mouth for Salvatore. I'll be curious to see if I like his story...

Can't wait to read his book!!!

My Rating :
Star : 2.5/5

This is the 3rd book in the Guardians of Eternity series. The books probably don't need to be read in order even though that would be better. Each subsequent book is based on a relatively minor character from the book before, and some of the characters carry over. The focus is primarily on vampires but there are demons and shape shifters and a really cute gargoyle.

The 3 books I've read have been good - maybe even getting better slightly from the 1st book to the 2nd, etc. These books are an easy and entertaining read. I plan to read the next book, Darkness Revealed.

This was Styx and Darcy's story. I liked both the characters. Once again, this is a fast, easy read. The plot is decent, the characters likeable and well developed. It simply lacks the depth and breadth of a five star novel. It is nice for a quick, easy read. I enjoy the characters quite a bit. They could easily fit into a more driven book. But, it is what it is. I didn't expect to like Styx so much. From the last book he was left feeling pretty down on himself and I feared he would be too weak a character. But he shaped up well and is my fav in the series next to Viper.

I did not like the heroine, Darcy, at all. I felt that she was so accepting of the vampires but shunned her own people, the weres. It made her come across as very prejudice, judgemental, and close minded. I like my heroines to be someone I would want to be friends with or at least in some way redeem themselves at the end of the story and this character did none of those things. This was not one of my favorite Ivy books.

The book was so repetitive. In almost every chapter you could read about how the hero, Styx, was feared by all vampires, how fierce a warrior and so forth. Yawn. I think Alexandra Ivy had a good plot going with the vampires and the werewolves on their way to a treaty and a sweet story between H/H but it never got developed but neither got the attention they needed.

The latest instalment of vampire romance sees Darcy hooking up with Styx, the new ruler of the vamps. I didn't really get on board with Darcy as much as the other femme fatales to date, but to be honest didn't care much as this book was keeping me company between moments of extreme boredom over Moby Dick! Gave me some light relief between endless chapters on different whale species. Ta for that.
