Very dense work containing 61 scholarly papers about the first world war. I found the one about the reaction of Irish Officers serving on the Western front during the Easter rising to be particularly interesting. The first hand accounts of soldiers that suffered horrific facial disfigurements was harrowing and moving; I also found the account of the German schoolteacher going about his day very compelling. There was a lot of boring articles in there too, unfortunately.
