I wasn't a big fan of this book. I don't think the text and layout matches the intended audience of a picture book. I'm not sure younger kids would be able to decipher the little symbols, and older kids wouldn't be drawn to the book. The symbols are too small for kids to get what is going on if the book were used in a storytime. It might work out if parents read it to the kids one on one and explain the symbols, but this might be more work than it's worth. The poems feel a little forced, and there is no overarching story to tie them all together.

Summary
This book is very cute. The author uses illustrations to tell a story with poetry. The reader has to figure out what the author means by certain pictures. It's good fun and will make you laugh.

Responses
I gave this book four stars because I thought it was really cute and clever. However, I did not give it five stars because I felt that at times it was difficult to understand what was going on in the text when I had to keep jumping to the other page to see what the author meant by certain pictures and images.
This book made me feel excited and nervous. It made me feel excited to turn to the next page to see what other silly things the author came up with. I read the book aloud with friends and I was nervous at some points because I kept tripping over what the author meant at times.

Classroom Connections
I feel that this book is directly related to poetry. Teachers can use this book when they are talking about what it means to be a poem. It can also be used to teach children what rebus means. I think that this book is clear and easy to understand, so children would not have any problems with that.

CCSS Range
I was unable to find the lexile rating online. However, I believe that this book would be appropriate for a second grade read a loud. I feel that some parts would be too difficult for second graders to read independently. Based on vocabulary and the difficulty children may have with understanding what the author means by certain illustrations, I feel that this would be a good book for a third grader to independently read.

This is a story about a girl who has a big imagination and tells a story about her day through poetry. There are pictures of different objects within the text that when you read them, you read what they are. This made the story an interesting read.

Response:I've never read a book like this before so it was very different to me. Although it is a children's book, I found it kind of hard to read. I keep stubbing over words and found myself having to reread what I read to be able to understand what was going on. I think because of the difficulty that this book would be geared for an older age.
Concept:I really like the creative imagination of the girl. I definitely think because of that, children will be able to relate to the story and stay interested. I also enjoyed having to decode the story and trying to figure out what the author was trying to say.

Classroom Connection:I think this would make a great classroom connection because it will introduce students to a different type of poetry. Like myself, not all students know their are different forms of poetry that can also make it fun. After introducing this story you can have you students create their own story with different objects with hidden messages within the text.

CCSS Range:The lexile on this book was N/A. I believe this book would be grade appropriate read-a-loud for k-3. Because of the difficulty in text I think students should be able to independently read by third grade.

This is a great book. The poems have lots of rebus' that make them funny and wonderful to read. This would be fun to read to a class. The class could help predict the words by looking at the pictures.

This book uses pictures to represents words and every page has a legend. It also uses rhyming words which makes the text easier to predict. The text is written with the cadence of poetry and demonstrates a lot of imagination on the part of the young girl who imagines all sorts of things.
