The Power of Determination: Looking to Jesus

Rate this book
Has life thrown so much at you that you¿ve been tempted to give up? Everyone gets discouraged now and then, our adversary makes sure of that. According to Joyce Meyer, that¿s the very point that you need to recognize who is at the root of that thought and reject it. God did not anoint you so you would quit. No matter what obstacles or temptations have come your way, you must choose to never give in to those pressures or give up!
In THE POWER OF DETERMINATION, Joyce Meyer encourages people to obey God¿s voice and do whatever he says each and every step of the way. Then absolutely nothing ¿ no person on earth, no devil in hell, no inability you have, nothing from your past ¿ will be able to stand in your way. God has promised to always lead us in triumph because you have not failed until you stop trying!

This is a really good book. It is a short read but a very inspiring content. I love reading religious books and I think they just really touch me and they make me realize the things I should do to have real happiness in life. This book first give Bible verses first then the author gives short explanations about them that is really inspiring. This book taught me two things: be dependent to God, and just keep pushing forward (meaning be determined, or never give up). A really inspiring read!

Another Good Book

As usual, Joyce Meyer has written another good book. However, this one isn’t particularly outstanding among her other books. Books like Never Give Up (a favorite of mine) are better. Among all the books Joyce Meyer has written, this book just does not stand out. It is worth reading, but is not highly excellent.

Es un lectura bastante ligera , no tan profundo, lo recomiendo para personas que quisieran empezar en el mundo de los libros y quieran algo que este ligado a la fe en Jesús.

Otherwise known as "The Triumph of the Will", this strategy didn't work for Hitler either. I see that I'm just the second person to publish a review (and the first one was a confidence-inspiring two words), and most Goodreads readers of this book haven't actually summoned up the determination to read this. On the to-read list. Right. But that's OK. Very few Christians have read the whole Bible all the way through.

For the very good reason that most of it is hateful nonsense, contradictory and untrue. Did you know that the Bible redefines pi as 3.00000? Well, that doesn't work too well in the real world, does it? Or that there are three different sets of Ten Commandments? And the set normally listed isn't called that at all. Go check.

Forget about listening for God. God is just the bit of our shared consciousness we don't understand and can't control. So there's always going to be a "God", full of wonder and random activity. Calling it Allah or Santa Claus or the Almighty does not and cannot add to our understanding of the universe. You want to find out how things work? Don't listen to that voice in your head - go out and see for yourself. Go out and think for yourself.
