Good yarn and bit of insight on life up Otaki Gorge in the Depression years. Hard yukka but great yarns. Nice light read.

I thought this was very sweet. I imagine a lot of the sweetness comes from a bit of hindsight (and his knowledge that this time in his life worked out for the best, that it didn't kill him) It's an interesting history though. Less blokey feeling than Barry Crump but that sort of story
