A really beautiful call to reclaim power after trauma or loss.
To the unfamiliar, this book might be too woo-y to take seriously. However, there is a serious amount of overlap between Ingerman's approaches and currently accepted psychotherapy methods. Ingerman distinguishes herself by humanizing the issues we all confront by extending the scope beyond the human, and draws a path toward transcendence.
Sincere, compassionate, and spiritual without the pitfalls of traditional religious theory.
I don't know, this really didn't do a lot for me. It reminds me of "Spirit Song" another book I wasn't too keen on although it was structured differently. There were some exercises at the end of each chapter which could be used with some spiritual counseling clients. Although according to this book, I should undergo a soul retrieval as it's possible that a part of my spirit was taken when I left medical school which is entirely possible although I think a part of me left when I arrived in Augusta.
This book it was wonderful for Ayahuasca integration and spiritual growth integration as well. She provides so many tools, questions, and exercises to encourage you to dive a little deeper before you full emerge from your healing process. It’s a must read for anyone on the shamanic or healing path.
I read Soul Retrieval years ago and I've forgotten much of it (I should reread it), but I really liked this follow up. It gave me a lot to reflect on and I related to a lot of the experiences shared. I like how the author states we are always growing and the process is never complete.
