Rate this book
Do you live your own dreams or someone else's? Are your spiritual beliefs from your own experience, or do they come from books and teachers?
"You have to put your heart and love into any approach to God," says author Harold Klemp. "As a spiritual being, you owe it to yourself to give this life one good whirl, to put everything into it, and to make it worth living." Through stories, inspiring viewpoints, and simple everyday exercises, the author shows how to clearly recognize the relationship between the physical life and the spiritual self. The Golden Heart refers to one who has a loving, aware, and creative attitude toward life. Every day we have opportunities to grow in our ability to meet life's challenges. Harold Klemp helps the reader understand the practical benefits of spiritual awareness. As you begin to grow beyond your built-in attitudes and expand in your point of view, the author shows you how to see more of the spiritual horizon of your own life. One day you will notice that you are no longer asking God to make your life better; now you are taking full responsibility for your own actions.  The Golden Heart is a thought-provoking book on how to achieve a greater spiritual understanding, regardless of your background.

After reading two of Harold Klemp's books, I have finally come to the conclusion that Eckankar is vague and simply follows in the path of many other spiritual findings for it to be unique. I've read about the Tao and frankly, I found it much more interesting than Eckankar teachings.
Two chapters striked me as illogical and downright bizzare. One where Eckankar teaches you that all dreams have meaning and that you must act on each and every dream and find out why your subconscious mind has come up with it in the form of that dream. I found this absurd. We dream countless nights and sometimes dreams mean absolutely nothing! There are more comprehensive readings on dreams and they make more sense than Eckankar.
The second chapter talked about hidden messages. If for example you are taking vitamin b and not sure (or whatever) and then you miraculously see a bee on TV, then that's a hidden message. Huh??!!
I'm not against the whole book. The HU chanting is amazing. Tried and tested! Yes, I do believe in Om, and Hu and reciting mantras with their power of igniting the senses and getting closer to "the soul" and God. I hope I can get my hands on another book about Eckankar that can enlighten me more. Because, at the end of the day, you need to gather much information to be able to accept any new concept.

These are basically transcripts from seminars. They tend to be short, simple, and engaging. They're definitely not as saccharine or contrived as the whole Chicken Soup franchise. It's kind of like a Reader's Digest for the New Thought crowd.
