Beautiful photos, quite amazing. But two main subjective faults. Not a book for vegetarians, even the veggie section has a lot of meat. The geographical photos and narration appear to have nothing to do with the recipes. The recipes are divided by meat, poultry seafood etc and not by region, which is unfortunate.

China; the beautiful cookbook is a collection of Chinese recipes and landscapes that show all the beauty of that magnificent land. It shows big blue lakes; the great wall; a set of beautiful kids and some kind of Chinese aborigines; and it transmits the feeling of grandiosity: everything in that country is big and abundant. It sets up a relationship between a Chinese region and a type of food Beijing = Poultry and vast lands; Shangai = seafood and Rocky Mountains; Guangzhou = meat; goats; ships; Sichuan = grains; pasta; bread; delicious desserts and a big river surrounding a rocky mountain. Junnxh = fruits and vegetables and terraces full of crops. With all that good stuff; I wonder why Chinese people are so fit and slender!

Another awesome find. Truly a layman cookbook for the Chinese food obsessed. (Me:) Detailed with added pictures to guide you in the finished product. When I perfect this style of cooking you all will be beating down my door. But... I have to wait until I can get to the city to get the ingredients as the gas station here does not carry what I need. The woes of a small town.

This book has amazing photographs and interesting information. I really like the way Chinese people present their food. I learned about all of their regions and the history of some of their most beloved dishes.

Love this book! The photographs are so beautiful and really make you want to make them. My favorite recipe is the Ma Po Dofu. Also love the steamed fish with scallions.

More restaurant style than home-cooking. Not the best in the Beautiful series, but still informative with a decent selection of essays and recipes and history.
