Oklahoma governor Buffalo Joe Hayman, chosen to give the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention, is felled by a stroke. Lieutenant governor "One-Eyed Mack" gives the speech to resounding acclaim and finds himself on the short list of possible vice presidential candidates.

Book 5 in this series and my final one. This was the best - written in 1992 it could have been written about this past summer of political conventions. Talk about spot on - it was uncanny. Jim Lehrer sure knows his politics and how to satirize it. Best lines in the book - when asked why he had changed his name from Donald to Mack - he replied, which do you like better - Mack as in truck or Donald as in duck?? Too apropos!! Definitely read these 7 books in order, I didn't because my library didn't have two of them and I had to order from Amazon. I'm going to miss the One-Eyed-Mack!!
Entertaining book. No matter what your politics are, I couldn't help but think of Sarah Palin as I read this book. Though written decades before she came on the political scene, this is a humorous look at One-eyed Mack's rise to sudden fame.
