There is a lot of good information here, but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I wanted more of a general overview of how to "run" a garden - how to manage it throughout the seasons and when to do whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing to keep my garden happy. Instead, this book focused more on planning a garden than actually having a garden, which is fine - it's just not what I was expecting.
I didn't read the whole thing but I enjoyed getting a general overview from the first half. And the section on soil testing was really neat and I'm excited to do it with the kids.
There’s good info in this book, however, it is very poorly presented. The majority of the book is wall after wall of text, apart from a few pages in the middle, the book is without color, which for me is the worst offender. No color pictures of plants, almost impossible to tell the hardiness zones on a map based on various shades of black and white. These Dummies series were popular in the 90’s but they show their age. There are some DK Series books on Gardening that look to be much better.
Read this a while ago, it’s alright but there are better intro guides to gardening with better diagrams and images. So it’s fine, a good book but there are other good ones worth looking for.
I just skimmed bc I ended up having other books that had more detailed information but from what I gathered in this book it supplied information in setting up a garden not so much in keeping one happy. That's still helpful but not quite what I was looking for. If you want a sparknote for gardening this book is for you.
A little more detailed than what I needed or wanted. It did have some helpful information, but I think I was looking for something more concise-- just what to grow and how to grow it without it's scientific history-- maybe something simpler like "Gardening for Really Dumb Dummies"
Si propone ai neofiti, ma dà alcune nozioni per scontate. Non tratta nessuna pianta nel dettaglio, ma fornisce alcuni spunti interessanti sullo stile delle composizioni e su come attirare farfalle e api.
This book was not what I was looking for. It had some information that I found useful, but for the most part, it was a waste of time reading it. The photos were not that great, and it also was a bit dry and boring.
