Lauren Katherine Conrad, often referred to as "L.C.", is an American television personality and an aspiring fashion designer. She is best known for being featured in the MTV reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and for her spin-off show, The Hills, which follows her personal and professional life as she pursues a career in the fashion industry. She earns an estimated $1.5 million annually for her television appearances, fashion line, and product endorsements.
L.A Candy by Lauren Conrad is a lighthearted and fun read filled with juicy details and relatable characters. Although, this read is quite the easy one, it’s very straightforward and I got wrapped into it quick. The author, a MTV reality star who is well known for her fantastic role on the teen show, The Hills was the reason I decided to give this book a try. Jane and Scarlett two best friends basically intertwined at the hip, do the whole cliche “move to LA” thing and get recognized by a famous TV producer. Intrigued by the idea of becoming famous, they star in their own TV show with two other girls. Two different settings, on and off the camera create conflict and ups and downs which makes the book even more worth reading. On top of that, guy drama and petty fights between stuck up castmates keeps the laughter going. Even though, this book is a pretty good read there are still some little details that could be tweaked. For example, the language in the book is easy going but it’s so underdeveloped and unsophisticated, I feel as though I’m reading a first grade book. In addition, I feel as though the plot and certain situations in the book were very cliche and unoriginal. One of my favorite characters and one of the most relatable was Scarlett who outshined with her witty humor and sarcastic behavior. Easily recommended by most with it’s laughs and drama hidden between every page especially for those in my age group.
These books were sooo good! At first i was just going to read the first one not knowing there were 2 more to the series. Once i finished the first one in a week i had to have more. I saw at the end the end that there were two more and bought them that night. I could not set them down and probably finished the last two in a week.
The series strangely parallels Lauren Conrad's fame life with little twists here and there. Jane is obviously the protagonist and with her trust, witty, out there best friend, Scarlet on her side the book gets more fun to read. I really enjoyed it and recommend it to people who like to watch reality tv and don't like to read. It's like reading a reality television show. Loved it and have re-read the series three or four times. Good and fun read.
I liked all three L.A. books. I was projected many things to "The Hills". And now I want to re-watch the show. Is it me or everyone who did read Lauren's books saw her in Jane? And Hannah was like Whitney, right? Gaby = Steph etc. By the way, I liked all the parallels too. I don't know for sure but maybe I will read the other three books about Maddy. I am pretty sure I will like it as well.
L.A Candy is a book series written by Lauren Conrad. L.A Candy is a book series about what goes on behind cameras of reality TV shows. Lauren Conrad gives insight on the manipulative ways of producers on reality TV and how some things that you watch on TV are never how they seem.
This book is like a soap opera/reality tv show drama, but you are reading it. I really liked the behind the scenes look at reality show stars. This books was very interesting and is really unique in that not many books choose to write about reality tv.
Great story line and a great read, overall! I was hooked and could not put this series down. I was actually quite sad when I got to the end, I want more!
Oh how I LOVE these books! Seriously, they are some of my favorite. As a HUGE fan of “The Hills” and Lauren Conrad, I found her books extremely interesting. They aren’t completely biographical per se but as a writer (though non writers can probably figure this out too), I can see pretty clearly who characters are based on and what scenarios she’s referring to. You actually DO find out a lot of behind the scenes info of “The Hills” based on what Lauren Conrad wrote. It’s entertaining and you can see different character traits she fictionalized to throw you off the scent because it really isn’t based EXACTLY on the people of “The Hills” and the characters she created are pretty entertaining characters all on their own. I highly recommend this series, even if you never saw one single episode of the show, you would still love these books because they are just that good!
