This volume contains portraits of the cinema's heroes and heroines, villains and vamps, and their magical romance, glamour, adventure and style. Each period boasts its own stars and personalities who have captured the affections of generations of Greta Garbo, Katharine Hepburn, Marlon Brando, Sean Connery, Meryl Streep and Eddie Murphy.
Three for the text, which is fine, mostly, but very basic; four for the excellent photos. I should also note that although this book is credited solely to Macpherson on here, the cover also lists Julie Welch and Louise Brody as authors.
The one exception to the text being fine was the Streisand piece. I don't have any special affection for Streisand, but that appraisal was clearly written by someone who has no regard for her at all, and stands out (in a bad way) for that reason.
