How To Build An Underground House

Rate this book
Malcolm "Why don't we see underground houses all around us? You tell me. The US can today boast only three or four thousand earth dwellings. Inertia was no doubt the cause of such a poor showing but the anti-environmental mood of the Eighties had its effect too. Now there's new enthusiasm, based, this time, on less man-centered concerns. People want to do more than just save energy. They want to lessen the physical impact of architecture on the land."

This is a nice hand written, hand illustrated introduction to the concepts and issues involved with building an underground house. It is by no means comprehensive but really a great guide to the things you need to start thinking about as you make plans.

I requested two Malcolm Wells books at the same time, not realizing that they would be practically unreadable. Had I borrowed only one book, I would never have tried a second. The writing makes my head ache and the drawings simply confused me more than they cleared up any questions I had. Never again.
