In twenty-first century America—a dark contrast of decaying cities—the Outlands are ruled by roving bands and Chemlands populated by mutants. Ordinary citizens are oppressed by money manipulators and daily violence. Marshal Thomas Jefferson Cade is one of a new breed of law enforcers. Teamed with his cyborg partner, Janek, Cade investigates the disappearance of Darksiders in New York. Then a female reporter also disappears. The case becomes personal and Cade must choose between love and justice.

A future cop and his cyborg partner try to find out why the people who live underground are disappearing. For the first 11 chapters, every single one featured a shoot out then things calm down and we get a little space travel. The book is very simplistic with a tv cop show vibe. Nothing original but if you want a quick read it's not the worst thing in the world. The odd couple roommate stuff had potential.
