"Hunter Morgan is at the top of her game with WHAT SHE CAN'T SEE as she joins two opposite people . . . who clash and bash as they search for a horrible serial killer." ¬–Suzanne Suzanne Colburn, Reader to Reader/The Belles & Beaux of Romance

A Serial Killer With No Mercy

Perfection is hard to find. Such young and beautiful students—the best and brightest. A good crop. That’s why they must die. I cull the best of them. For my collection. Then I make them even more perfect.

A Game With No Rules

FBI Agent M.K. Shaughnessy is investigating the deaths of students and her instinct tells her the recent deaths of Chesapeake Bay College students aren’t accidents. No way! But that’s not enough to convince her new partner and experienced agent, Adam Thomas, who is dogged and stubborn. “You can’t assume it’s a serial killer if there’s no solid evidence,” he says. She knows he’s right.

She has all the evidence she needs with the next death.

A Nightmare That Never Ends

Immersing herself in the case and the facts, M.K. Shaughnessy matches wits with the cunning cold-blooded psychopath killing students. But she has overlooked a crucial detail. She can feel it. It’s niggling at her and what she can’t see is right in front of her. It will cost her dearly.

The murders grow more shocking by the day.

Now all I need for my final kill is something over the top, a finishing touch. My final trophy kill will be more precious than anything yet.

The killer will be targeting M.K.

This is actually a re-read for me...from several years ago...and an enjoyable trip.

FBI Agent M.K. Shaughnesssy is paired up with Special Agent Adam Thomas in order to investigate the systematic murders of young men and women attending the local college. They are all killed in different ways and it's only the latest victims that they begin to see where the bodies are missing 'trophies' .. a hank of hair from one, a finger from another, a breast from yet another.

Adam's daughter is a student at the college. A budding reporter, she comments on these cases, much to her father's dismay. She doesn't realize that with every report, she's moving closer and closer to the killer ... who is planning the next kill.

I enjoy a good Romantic Suspense and I have always found this author's books to be more mystery and suspense than romance.

The plot is a good one ... easy to follow even with a lot of possible suspects popping up here and there. I love the interaction between the characters. Liza Jane (Adam's daughter) is the teenager who is living on her own for the first time and loving it. She's very opinionated ..and everyone swears she gets it from her father. Adam is a loving father and is happy-go-lucky on the outside. He's got layers and layers on the inside. He finds M.K. very complicated ... but that's part of what attracts him. She has issues with her family as they disapprove of her choice of job.

All in all, a very good read. I did check and although there are several books by this author, she hasn't written any in this vein for quite a while. If you like a touch of romance with your mystery, this is the author to follow.

Very intriguing storyline. I was on the edge of my seat. At first there were parts that were useless to the story but upon reflection I feel that everything was important in order to understand the characters. I loved that I was never sure who to suspect. I received this book from eBook Discovery. I am voluntarily posting this review. This is my honest review.

Oh my Hunter Morgan - the more of your books that I read, the more your writing, intrigue, mystery and suspense thrills me. I've now read 4 of Hunter's books and they just seem to get better and better! So here we have an apparently mismatched FBI duo, Adam the experienced older agent with surfer good looks and dress style, and M.K. who is slightly younger and after some years in a desk position, has now graduated to a field agent. The electricity between these two crackles, and is quite mesmerising throughout the book. Adam has a 19 year old daughter, Liza Jane, who attends Chesapeake Bay College in Ashview. Liza Jane wants to become a star reporter and gets involved with a campus reality show. Then as usual in Hunter's books' the bodies start piling up and Liza Jane starts showing some admirable detective skills as well. The killer starts taking trophies from the victims, small at first then getting progressively more daring. Now the killer also starts seeing a psychologist, to apparently sort out internal conflict, and we meet "Blue" - the only name that we know the killer by. Throughout this book I was convinced that certain of the secondary characters was the killer, only to change my mind after reading a few more pages. In fact at the end when the killer is revealed I was totally gob smacked, never having suspected that person.

This is a tense, tight and exciting story, that I read in 2 evenings, thus going to bed far later than I should have, but the suspense and the mystery just made we have to find out who this killer was. Extremely well written, fast paced, with plenty of explanatory side stories to flesh out all the main characters'. I can only heartily recommend this book for a great read, one of the best!

Very enjoyable thriller. Pair of FBI agents hunting a serial killer, one agent's daughter doing investigative journalism, killer hunting college kids. Explosive ending, but sadly I guessed killer's identity very early on.

Very good plot and characters. A little on the long side, like a lot of description of things that are outside the story or main characters, but it's never boring.

Entertaining!

Great story, very enjoyable but too many typos. The author needs to proofread his books more carefully. Serial killers are so fascinating to read about.

Needs a better editor

Great and twisting plot line. Many spelling errors and a few completely wrong words. Very surprising for a published book. Still, I enjoyed reading it.

FBI Special Agents M.K. Shaughnessy and Adam Thomas are no strangers to death and destruction. They might be relatively new to the office, and even a little reluctant to partner up, but they know that when a Senator's son is killed in a car accident, they're going to need to work hard to determine that it was an accident. After a talk with the Medical Examiner and the Chief of Police in the county where the accident took place, both Special Agents are convinced that the tragic loss of life of the Senator's son and three of his college friends was simply an unfortunate accident.

Some people, however, are convinced that the tragic accident could have been avoided. One of those people is Liza Jane, Special Agent Thomas's daughter, who happens to attend the same college as the dead students-and also writes for the school newspaper. Now reprimanded by their boss for allowing his daughter to stir up Senator Palmer all over again, M.K. gets the distinct feeling that Liza Jane might be on to something. Other deaths, other so-called accidents, have occurred recently, all with the same mystifying circumstances as the college student's deaths.

Now there seems to be a serial killer targeting young men and women, and M.K. and Adam are drawn into the tangled web of a killer. With no real clues where to begin their hunt for a deranged killer intent on destroying the city's youth, they end up closer and closer to danger. With Liza Jane and M.K. dragging an uncertain Adam into the investigation, the two ladies don't realize that they're being led deeper and deeper into the twisted minds of a killer unlike any they've ever faced before.

WHAT SHE CAN'T SEE is a haunting yet engaging thriller that pits two FBI Special Agents and a young woman against the twisted mind of a killer who is having trouble separating reality from fiction. Hunter Morgan has once again written a police procedural novel with underlying hints of a romantic suspense plot, and come up with a winner.

I have to say that the ending was complete surprise. You'll never guess who the killer is, and in a book of this type, that's always a sure bet that you need to keep on reading.

It wasn't until I came to write this review that I realized that this book is classified as a romantic thriller. Up until then, I thought that it was rather good. Anyway, there are places where it IS quite thrilling. All in all, the plot seems rather far fetched with a certain amount of repetitive actions which make all the law enforcement people seem dim. Several of the people are in need of counseling, and both Sophie's ex, Adam, and her present husband Mark have some deep dark secrets which haven't been revealed.

One of the silliest books I've picked up in a long long time. I could only manage to get through a quarter of it before I tossed it, but I did go to the end so I could see who the murderer was -- imagine, Dr. Wood, the female Medical Examiner, is really a hermaphrodite with a chip on his/her shoulder...
Don't waste your time or money on this piece of tripe.

Thought it was a pretty good story. The FBI at its best. It entails a woman, M.K. Shaughnessy and a man, Adam Thomas, both Special Agents for the FBI. They go through a whirlwind of a mass murder. That's all i'll say or I can give it away. He has an adopted daughter which needs raining in. He's divorced. She's never been married you can take it from there.

The good part: It's a suspense story, and some of the characters are quite likable, good plot, too.
The bad part: too predictable and it's such a drag to read. seriously.
