* This book is no longer published. After some decisive thoughts, I decided to remove it in May of 2011. *
Seventeen-year-old Evelyn Moore never believed that something bad could happen to her. She lived alone with her parents in a small Iowa town. One dark night in October, everything changed as Evelyn is raped and beaten almost to the point of death by a stranger, who she never saw his face. Ashamed of it, Evelyn refuses to tell anyone what happened to her and bears the weight of her own pain. Her parents don't understand and she pushes her friends away. When the worst happens, Evelyn leans on a strange boy named Caleb that comes into her life only when she needs it.
"Falling Star" is the story of one young woman's journey to find faith in God after being sexually assaulted and learning to overcome the pain of life.
I’m a writer who really loves “Star Trek”. I’m a geek. By day, I'm an infant teacher with eight adorable and fun kiddos. By night, I write young adult contemporary. I can frequently be found cuddled under a blanket with a cup of coffee and binge watching "The Office" for the umpteenth time.
I confess that I'm not always the best at finish things. One of my biggest fears/joys is reading and experiencing something for the first time. You can only experience that in a unique way, once. For that reason, I struggle with finishing the last book in a series or the last episodes of a TV series. I don't want it to end. I prefer to keep imagining what ifs and to enjoy it. Meaning, I've never seen the last episodes of some shows or finished the last chapter. I'll get there, but no yet. I want to keep enjoying it. Endings aren't always everything. :)
While this may be a topic that needs to be addressed, the author stopped short of the chance to help other girls with similar problems to what Eve had by not showing Eve the falsehoods in her thinking. Ending where it did left the reader helpless and hopeless, but there were so many opportunities and characters in Eve's life that could have made a difference, to the story and to the lives of real girls seeking answers from this story.
