This book takes a different perspective on addressing habits. What makes it different is the insertion of the Four Tendencies—Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, and Rebel which the author uses as a lens at which to view behaviors to address habits and that was helpful because it reinforces the idea that there is not a one size fits all approach for habits. We have tendencies and unique characteristics that have to be considered to be understood and to form habits.
This book takes a refreshing approach to habit formation by introducing the Four Tendencies—Upholder, Questioner, Obliger, and Rebel—as a framework for understanding behavior. I really appreciated this perspective because it highlights that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to building better habits. Instead, it acknowledges that our personal tendencies shape the way we respond to expectations, making it easier to create strategies that actually work for us.
Interesting. I’ve never heard people and their personalities and tendencies categorized like that before. It makes sense why people act the way they do and how we can all work to make ourselves better than we were before.
