The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle
It is meant to be a celebration but it ends in tragedy. As fireworks explode overhead, Evelyn Hardcastle, the young and beautiful daughter of the house, is killed. But Evelyn will not die just once. Until Aiden - one of the guests summoned to Blackheath for the party - can solve her murder, the day will repeat itself, over and over again. Every time ending with the fateful pistol shot. The only way to break this cycle is to identify the killer. But each time the day begins again, Aiden wakes in the body of a different guest. And someone is determined to prevent him ever escaping Blackheath...

Where the Crawdads Sing
For years, rumors of the 'Marsh Girl' have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Girl, Woman, Other
This is Britain as you've never read it. This is Britain as it has never been told. From Newcastle to Cornwall, from the birth of the twentieth century to the teens of the twenty-first, Girl, Woman, Other follows a cast of twelve characters on their personal journeys through this country and the last hundred years. They're each looking for something - a shared past, an unexpected future, a place to call home, somewhere to fit in, a lover, a missed mother, a lost father, even just a touch of hope...

About the author

Stuart Turton

Stuart lives in London with his amazing wife and two daughters. He drinks lots of tea.

What else?

When he left university he went travelling for three months and stayed away for five years. Every time his parents asked when he’d be back he told them next week, and meant it.

Stuart is not to be trusted. In the nicest possible way.

He’s got a degree in English and Philosophy, which makes him excellent at arguing and terrible at choosing degrees.

Having trained for no particular career, he has dabbled in most of them. He stocked shelves in a Darwin bookshop, taught English in Shanghai, worked for a technology magazine in London, wrote travel articles in Dubai, and now he’s a freelance journalist. None of this was planned, he just kept getting lost on his way to other places.

He likes a chat. He likes books. He likes people who write books and people who read books. He doesn’t know how to write a biography, so should probably stop before he tells you about his dreams or something. It was lovely to meet you, though.

Stuart's debut novel is called The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle in the UK and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle in the US. They're the same book. Don't fret.

This review only relates to The 7 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle and was recommended to me by my daughter in law , who thought it was great . I'm afraid I could not follow it at all - for the first ever I even jumped pages and read the last 50 pages to try and understand the solution. Baffling.
Waste of a week's reading .

I found this book really hard to get into and abandoned it a few times. I'm really glad I persevered as it was beautiful. I finished it in my own blissful book bubble, unaware I was silently sobbing during a flight. Don't give up on it!

I think I might have liked the four or five deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle but seven iterations were too many for me. The writing was fine and the characters were well done so those positives boosted it to two stars as I can appreciate the ability of the author and the story they had in mind enough to warrant that.

This book may very well appeal to more patient readers so don't let me deter you from giving it a try.

Che fatica, anche se comunque volevo sapere come sarebbe andata a finire.
