I read this Italian version, although Goodreads lists it as a Greek-learner book. Of all of the easy books I’ve picked up for language learners, this one is the funniest. It’s like a Raymond Chandler detective story, with a hard-drinking, chain-smoking detective working on a case. Femme fatale? Check. Added to the cliché are a few Italian stereotypes by the author. Our detective, Esposito, is from Naples, loves opera, drinks grappa, and la cucina napoletana. Also, this is the first easy reader that featured cocaine abuse. A wild ride.
