Gotcha!

Rate this book
Mrs. Zookey’s class is studying spiders and their prey. Richard can relate, because Patrick has been preying on him all morning.

Patrick is the biggest pest in second grade. He gets away with stuff other kids don’t. Today he’s out to get Richard. When he does something that makes him look smart or Richard look silly, he flashes a sign: Gotcha! Richard has been zapped, powed, and bonked. Even his friends at Table Two are laughing at him, and there’s no relief in sight, because Mrs. Zookey wants Richard to be Patrick’s partner for an entire field trip. But sticking with Patrick is asking for trouble, and the “winner” gets all wet in this funny, fast-paced Table Two chapter book, full of interesting spider facts.

Not sure about this one. Although I gave it two stars I would not go out of my way to recommend it and I certainly would not put it on a summer reading list. While the story is about second graders and their study of spiders it revolves around two boys. One a bully and the other just your average kid. Of course as in real life the bully never gets caught and the other student always gets into trouble. I thought the focus was just to negative. Most bully's do not need any new ideas. And I would not want my second grader to be part of any field trip where two students can just wander off and almost drown.

Good book for those students that want to read chapter books but are not ready for all those that are available. Story of a stressful relationship between two students that ends positively.
