Some thoughts:

Pros:

- I liked the angst in this book, though I do wish it had been more drawn out—too much of it got resolved too quickly for my taste.

- A lot of the things I liked in the Maid and the Orcs were present in this book, and I enjoyed Thrain/Kitty/Varinn more than I did Geva and Rathgarr in the last book.

- We get to see more of Dammarr and Thrak in this story, and I thought their arc was very cute.

- Thrain’s alcoholism was handled very tactfully and with much empathy, which was great to see.

Cons:

- There’s a LOT of repetition in this series, so I wasn’t especially surprised to see a lot of themes and plot points I recognized from earlier books in this story, but it felt more extreme than previous books had been. In other words, The Beauty and the Orcs really did feel like The Maid and the Orcs in a different font. When you really enjoy a series, as Fenn’s fans do (I do, too, to be clear) you’re willing to tolerate a certain level of repetition because you presumably like the material that’s being repeated; that said, there does come a point where it’s too much. I think we definitely reached that point with this book. I know Fenn must have really great new ideas bouncing around in her head—I just wish we got to see them.

- I love a long book as much as the next gal, but this one felt longer than it ought to have been—it felt like we kinda lost the plot in the middle there and just ambled around for a bit before we found it again.

- I sense I am probably in the minority here, but there were just a few too many sex scenes in this book for my taste. I don’t think every sex scene needs to advance the plot, but I want to feel like each one is adding something to the story, and I just don’t feel that with these books. I would happily substitute several of those scenes for more plot- or character-building.

My hopes for this series going forward:

This doesn’t seem like the last MMF relationship we’ll get from this series (Ulfarr and Killik’s story will inevitably get told at some point), and I hope that/those relationship/s will feel as unique as the MF relationships in this series do. Maid and the Orcs/Beauty and the Orcs were too similar to one another for me to be able to enjoy yet another book that feels like it was cut from the exact same cloth.

I’d really like to see a change of scenery at some point—I think Fenn has built a cool world here, and it would be a shame if we never got to explore other parts of it. I want to read some stories that focus on the other Orc Settlements, for example, and explore these cultural differences Fenn teases from time to time. As much as I enjoy long series, I think at a certain point it inevitably feels like you’re spinning your wheels a bit, and moving away from the Mountain once in a while could help with that.

Note: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

Another Orc Sworn story, a bit more expansion into Finley Fenn’s Orcish world! Unfortunately this installment was a meh read for me. I know. I’m mega sad about it.

There were some GREAT parts in the overall story that I loved! Namely, the handling of an MC suffering from addiction. Thrain is addicted to alcohol and his journey was handled so carefully and with such accuracy. We get to see his emotions, his relapses, his victories, and how it affects those he loves and it really tugged at my heart. Absolute 10/10 job. The expanding world of Orc mountain (the Great Grisk Showroom Shop!), the further expansion of Orc culture, and the introduction to our first non-binary orc were just absolutely delightful. It’s all the things I love most about this series with some new info to really flesh out the world-building! There was absolutely unique and interesting sex scenes that were fantastic, but at roughly 750-ish pages, there were TONS of sex scenes that could have been edited out and the story would have been just fine without them.

I was so excited for another MMF couple in the series, but the dynamic between Thrain, Varinn, and Kitty was really unequal and I kept questioning why Kitty was even in the story. This was really Thrain and Varinn’s story and had it been just those two working their way back to each other in spite of the hurt between them, I would have enjoyed this a lot more. Poor Kitty is in every scene with our Orc boys, but she’s either watching, waiting, or a therapist helping resolve their issues and I’d have rather she just not be in the story than to have one personality trait: getting Varinn and Thrain back together. Any emotional scene between Varinn and Kitty is interrupted by Thrain having another emotional meltdown and I eventually felt like the trio should coparent and remain friends. I felt bad for Kitty after the 5th “oh, you too” moment. And by the big declaration, I had a hard time believing Kitty was anything other than a foil to get our Orcs together. The pregnancy isn’t really a big part of the story which felt odd considering it’s the catalyst for these three characters becoming entangled together. So. Lots of Varinn + Thrain relationship development, Kitty holding up the wall, and pity hugs for Kitty after the fact. Didn’t love it.

I LOVED Dammar and Thrak and honestly? They stole the show. I kept waiting for more appearances of them instead of the main couple. Fingers crossed they get a story!

Thanks to Finley Fenn and MaryKate for an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

I so desperately wanted to love this. It has all my favourite things, orcs, fmm, a slight dislike to lovers vibe, pierced 🍆 etc. But I had to dnf after giving it a good go. I had to stop 400 pages in.
The story felt like it wasn't getting anywhere, and for a 700+ page book, I'd really expect there to be a decent storyline running throughout it.
The writing was giving me a headache with how repetitive every piece of dialogue was or whatever kitty was thinking, it was the same conversations and the same pieces of text over and over. 'Varinn giving Thrain the same ultimatum' 'Varinn hates kitty and her scent' 'Varinn wordlessly feeding his 🍆 to kitty' 'kitty needing to be fed' etc etc
And the overuse of 'Oh.' Was driving me mad. I counted the word oh was used over 600 times in 700 pages. I don't know if this is the author's writing style or just how kitty is being portrayed?
Also, kitty's complete lack of personality other than her wanting to be 'fed' and whenever her feelings are hurt, she constantly brushes it off and seemingly forgets about it. Her only personality trait seemed to be being horny, and i get it girl, because thrain and varinn are hot but she seems to lack any other emotion. It really felt like this was Varinn and Thrains' story because half the time, kitty was pushed aside or seemingly forgotten.

I feel so disappointed it just didn't hit like I was hoping. Potentially has room in the last 300 pages to get going again bit I just couldn't bring myself to read anymore of it. Maybe it was just this book I didn't click with, and some of the previous orc mountain books are different and more captivating to me personally.

My Review

I adore this series so was excited to get stuck into my latest fix, this newest delicious orc tale is M/M/F and focuses on the Grisk clan specifically Varinn and Thrain who both have an ongoing and extremely tempestuous relationship with each other. These two have been completely infatuated with each other since boyhood when a pivotal traumatic event forced them both into close proximity. Though they care deeply for each other Varinn has always longed for a mate and child to carry on his scent line something that Thrain is obviously unable to give him.

Kitty is a female who has been taught to use all of her many assets to ensure her own survival. When events place her directly in Thrain’s path and also being vulnerable after her long-term protector threw her away like yesterday's rubbish Kitty now finds herself in a perilous situation.
Abandoned and pregnant with an Orcling on the way she does the only thing she can and sets off to Orc Mountain encountering Varinn along the way. The circumstances behind Kitty’s situation and Thrain’s thoughtless behaviour setting the course for all that is to come.

This one initially had a lot of angst we are also dealing with an addiction as Thrain has severe issues with the drink and had done for many years. Varinn’s first impressions of Kitty or Katherine as he calls her are harsh he thinks her a certain type of female and he isn’t shy about letting her know he thinks this either. What begins as one thing though swiftly morphs into something deeper and Kitty finds herself wanting this all to be real wanting both Orcs for her mates and protectors. But it’s certainly not plain sailing Thrain has some serious demons and Varinn can be closed off and overly harsh and has a deep need for control.

This one was just as hot as its predecessor's lots with copious amounts of fluids and sexy times as usual this was incredibly explicit and that is definitely one of my favourite things regarding this series. I definitely appreciated that Kitty wasn’t your typical heroine she was way more worldly and experienced due to her profession and life experiences but she was also vulnerable and eager to please her prior life and the men in it have been far from kind, but once Varinn got over himself and realised just what a treasure he had acquired in her it did become a whole lot easier.

This also had a heavy praise and control kink and the spice was through the roof these three were seriously filthy together but also incredibly sweet as well. I enjoyed this a lot and as usual, the writing was excellent. The world-building was again good and I also loved catching up with all of the usual recurring faces that reside at Orc Mountain this was another definite winner for me I voluntarily reviewed a copy of Beauty and the Orcs.

I really like this book and I love Orc culture so much that I reread those parts in joy. I also love the angst, I nearly cried at some parts. Why 3 stars? I felt that it was a bit repetitive and not only that, I went here with the expectation that it would be MMF in the equal sense (I LOVE MMF). They were not equal at all. I felt like I was reading an M/M book with a dash of F. It's like Thrain and Varinn's book with an, "Oh you're there." moments with Kitty. I actually felt bad for her after the 3rd time they screwed and she was hugged to them like a pet.

Keeping the peace in exchange for her peace of mind? No. It's like she's a side character that was forced to be there and everything about this book is about the repair of Thrain and Varinn's relationship and she was helping along. She might as well be a friend. She's treated like a mate with all those jewels and care but all else? There was minimal grovel as they were forgiven too easily. Keeping secrets like those and making little effort since she happened to be forgiving and kind and she still accepts scraps of what should be offered to her.

I finally read Kitty and Varinn moments and there was Thrain (I admit I was irritated with Thrain a lot of times in this book but make no mistake, I love this adorable orc to bits), making an emotional speech (with valid reasons and actual illnesses but don't mind me, I'm just being my frustrated self) and boom, Kitty is forgotten (aside from a few glances). I love the Thrain and Kitty moments but there's so few of them. *Sigh* I'm sorry. I actually felt pity for Kitty here. Make no mistake, I LOVE Thrain and Varinn's relationship and love. I teared up when they finally reconciled. It's just that... I felt empty when I remembered that Kitty's there, too.

On the other side, I LOVE Dammarr (and his dresses) and Thrak, I hope they get their own book. Ulfarr and Killik? Yes please. I want a warrior or fighter FMC for a change, to handle those two. I'm taking a break from grumpy/sunshine. This book is great, though! I love the characters, the world building and Orc Mountain itself. It's just the MMF pairing. It should be an MM book with an F friend at this rate. It's like Kitty's forced between them, she actually said it on the book. It's here:

He’d promised to be honest, to earn her trust again, to be — a friend. And he had been, he had, and maybe that was why it hurt so much.
I wanted to do something — unforgivable. And maybe you’d come in and pick up the pieces.
Because again, it had been about — them. About Thrain and Varinn. Not about her. Maybe it had never been about her, for either of them, from the very start.

You know what's sad? I think I agree with her.

A little less angst and a little more communication than previous Fenn novels, but somehow even more sex. Amazing how that's even possible. It's a little similar the Maid in the Orcs but with a slightly different dynamic between the characters. I also loved the introduction of a heroine who is down to clown sexually rather than harboring regret all the time (though I also love those heroines, don't get me wrong).

Very spicy. Very long. Very heart-warming.

I have not read any of the other books in this series so I have nothing to compare this book to. That being said, I agree with almost all of the non-five star raters.

I spent a lot of time skipping through the enormous amount of dick sucking throughout this book. I get that it helps with her morning sickness but what the actual fuck? And just speaking of the spicy scenes that I skipped over- I only found like two instances that either MMC actually focused on her during any of their escapades.

Do they even know she’s there outside of being their own live in sex toy/therapist? She came into this story and fixed all their problems and yet they still continued to lie to her and hurt her. Even at the end of the book nothing really gets resolved in regard to her feelings but don’t worry because the MMC’s are doing really well in their relationship.

Sure they gave her some fancy jewelry but even that felt more like it was just a forced tradition instead of a “I want you to have this as a token of my love.” Even Varinn’s declaration of love to Kitty still was about his need/want to control her. And then Thrain took the opportunity to take that moment from her, much like he did quite often throughout the entire book, and turn it into being all about him.

This poor woman almost died because of all their shenanigans. I vote she leaves both their asses. They’re clearly not in a good headspace to have a third partner. I don’t really think either of them even wanted a third partner, they really just wanted a womb to grow a baby. That’s all they wanted from her. They said it so many times and then referenced it while “apologizing”. Constantly they apologize to her throughout the book and then just keep on treating her like shit and like a sex toy. Nothing ever gets resolved or actually discussed because someone is always weirdly getting their dick out. I can see it happening like once but every single time? I understand make up sex but it just feels weird and off putting after the third time.

Kitty lied when she said they were good to her. If she was my friend I would be telling her every single day to dump them and making sure they knew I hate them for treating my friend like that.

There are two things that slightly redeem this book: the kittens and the sweet baby angel Dammarr who deserves the world.

I wanted so badly to like this book. I was planning on reading the other MMF book but now I think I’ll pass. Sad.

TLDR: This is a terrible throuple and they should break up but Dammarr is perfect. The end.

3.75 stars. tbh Kitty seemed like a third wheel therapist for half of the book. It was making me feel bad for her sheesh. I can’t believe it but sucking dick was getting old. And “good Grisk seed”. So much good Grisk.

This story follows Thrain, Kitty, and Varinn and I liked it enough. It was a bit long but those baby orclings make appearances on these later books and I love them!!

I keep forgetting to write my review after reading the book so all I remember is that at parts I thought it was too long and wanted to skip parts to get to the action I also remember not being as satisfied with Charles’s demise. So far most of these stories have had a very satisfying conclusion with the main antagonist. Most are awful to the main character and Charles was no excuse. Kitty did everything for him and because he picked her up in a not so nice work place for women he treated her very badly. She was the smart businesswoman who earned him money. Money he would gamble away. I wanted him to suffer more!! But I guess a future without his good luck charm would suffice. My petty heart was not happy.

No rating on this for now, my own view on it is bias from my own experiences.

Primarily I want to focus on the substance abuse aspect of the book and how I thought it was handled. Addiction runs in both sides of my family - I lost a family member to it this week which is why I’m postponing rating the book.

I’m well versed in alcoholism from the view of the family and loved ones - I felt that this book addressed the messiness of recovery well and understanding that addiction is a disease and that relapse is often a part of recovery. I think it was well researched in the recovery process and the aspects that go into it - there was focus on building up a supportive community, changing your environment, finding new hobbies and interests, and the importance of having impartial people to talk to as well as for accountability. Overall I felt that the portrayal of alcoholism and recovery was well researched and accurate to my experiences.

BUT spoilers below

It’s great that addiction and recovery was portrayed in this way - but it’s important to understand that the impact on relationships is long lasting and that loved ones should also seek support. The angst seemed resolved too quickly for something that should have been fleshed out more for the sake of all three (and baby) of them.

It's hard to find a place to start this review so let me begin by saying, first and foremost, this is absolutely my new favorite book in the series and despite the fact I say that with every new release I gave the utmost faith that this one is going to stick.

Finley's writing truly gets better and better with each and every book and I could not be more proud of my orc mom right now. This was a true masterpiece, clocking in at over 700 pages, and there wasn't a single fault that I could find. And trust me– I'm always looking.

I don't want to comment too much on the plot because I fully believe it needs to be experienced– what I will say is that I enjoyed our fmc's openness, her willingness, and most of all her beautiful heart. She was such a joy to read and while our Grisk disaster boys are just that, an absolute disaster, you know our fmc here is going to set them straight. As they always do. And along the way she finds not only herself but her place. Her home.

This book had my chest aching with emotion at every turn and I have to applaud Finley for her descriptive style because I know that's the main reason her stories always hit me so hard. Not only are her descriptions so alive they make you feel them but she's also very careful. You can feel the care and compassion that goes into each of her works. The consideration, the time, the energy, the love she puts into these stories is so vibrant you can't help but fall in love with her world. And I really, truly have.

Themes:
• single POV
• one night stand
• accidental pregnancy
• MMF
• pierced peens
• alcohol abuse & recovery
• dominant & submissive mmcs

** a few spoilers down below**

Finley has always written her world of orcs in a way that I admired– they cast no judgment, no shame in their culture over sexuality, gender, or even race and color. In a fantasy world you can make it however you wish. And Finley has done us such justice with Dammarr's character in this book.

As they discovered themself I found my own self absolutely giddy. Seeing Dammarr explore expression through his clothes and jewels, watching as Thrak accepted them, and finally learning the lore of the hán in orcish culture… as a non-binary reader who uses gender neutral pronouns and dresses like a femme presenting male, I understood his journey and I felt so seen by it. And that's why representation matters. Thank you, Finley, from the bottom of my gay heart: thank you.

In progress review @57%:

It’s not that I don’t like it it’s just…for the first time it feels like the author’s constant reader is male, not female. I’m not submissive so maybe I’m missing something, but…do subby women actually get off on descriptions of male characters being serviced like they’re gods being worshipped? This language over and over and over? This feels like the person who would enjoy this is a dude. Are dudes reading this? Maybe so! Idk.

I’m just having difficulty figuring out what the heroine is getting out of all this. I’m not complaining about the rivers of semen, obviously, how could I be reading this series otherwise, but it really seems like there is no sensual element to any of it. She’s just sucking it down because it’s an anti-emetic protein drink and she’s pregnant and can’t keep anything else down. If she’s even like orgasmed so far, I overlooked it. I do want there to be SOMETHING other than blowjobs in these books, and so far there has almost been nothing for the heroine except sucking (one!) dick (a lot).

I feel like the best sex in the book was tragically the blackout sex Kitty and Thrain had offstage in the first chapter. At least his tongue probably works.

Anyway the best element to me is the quite realistic addiction stuff, particularly the dynamic between the guys and how Varinn in some ways enjoys Thrain feeling like he isn’t good enough for him. He likes the power that gives him. It’s ugly but very true to life. We’ve all known people - couples - like this.

𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖/𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒:
So we have to get the smut out of the way for this review. This is Finley Fenn... and Orc Mountain... the copious amounts of Orc seed and total kinkery in these books far exceeds what I normally read. Or have ever read. And most of you know I'm not really into that level of smut-ness.
EXCEPT with Finley's Orc Sworn romances. Because she's made it into such a required aspect of these stories, and the storytelling is so superb, that after starting the first book I found myself barely comprehending the level of smut I was consuming! It's just so good, all of it combined. When I go into smut, I expect smut, but with Finley you get so much more. The stories literally grab you and pull you in.
There is always such an emotional storyline that just hits you very strongly in the feels. I can't put my book down when I read her stories!

And I've found I prefer the one sided viewpoint from the heroines in these because it adds to that level of unknown as to what the other MC(s) are thinking. It really puts you in her shoes and that builds onto the emotion.

I adore this series so much. And I was beyond excited for another Orc Sworn poly romance after The Maid and The Orcs! Just wow. That's my review. Wow.

I found it so unique how Thrain felt like a dominant lover when we first met him. But then after meeting Varinn I was like holy sh*t sign me up for this bad boy. I absolutely fell in love!
I loved seeing the dynamic switch after meeting Varinn. Which made those few moments where he let's Thrain take over stand out so much more. It really made for such a unique dynamic between the three of them. The only thing I felt was missing for new was not getting to see Varinn bite Kitty! I was soooo waiting for it. I love when characters in monster roms mark their mates and I was so wanting to see the experience with them!

This was a wonderful read. I couldn't put it down. Finley just knows how to make you put yourself into the stories she writes and it makes every aspect so much stronger as you read. I'm so happy to have been able to get an ARC for this as I hate to wait! Loved it!

This was my first foray into the Orc Mountain. I've been curious about the series for a long time, but I sadly don't think it's for me after reading The Beauty and the Orcs.

What I loved:
- the very interesting and imaginative use of jewellery
- the complexity of the world
- Thrain was such a wonderful disaster and the depiction of his addiction and journey to recovery was written beautifully
- I loved how Kitty grew and started standing up for herself and her own wants
- the last 25% were fun and exciting and made me really love Kitty, Thrain and Varinn.
- Thrak and Dammarr stole the show for me. Yesss for Dammarr finding themselves and them figuring it out together. I loved their journey to self-discovery and although they were side characters, I absolutely adored them
- the emotional roller coaster that this put me through
- the language and Orc lingo was fun and really added to the story.

What didn't work for me:
- the amount of spicy scenes felt a bit tedious and repetitive after a while
- the pacing was a bit off - the first 20% really pulled me in, but the middle really dragged for me and felt a bit like the plot was forgotten under all the "Good Grisk seed feeding" and other bedroom activities. I think this book could well have cut a few hundred pages and gotten the same emotional payoff.

Lots of pros but this just didn't work for me. I can see why so many love the Orc Sworn series as they are very nicely written, but it was sadly not for me.

I was very kindly given an ARC for my honest opinion, thank you so much! 🩷

“You’re all we’ve ever wanted in a woman, Kit,” he said, a little choked.
“Both of us.”

A Woman and an Orc meet in a bar….. and no! this is no cheap joke but more of a rich and beautiful heart wrenching story. Everything just spirals out from there and you can only hold your breath and be on the edge of all that is unfolding in this book. Kitty is such a strong and intelligent woman and in a world of men she is what I call a powerful woman. When she gets involved with Thrain and Varinn she thinks she needs to earn her place when in reality it is Thrain and Varinn who needs to earn their places with not only Kitty but also within themselves. Strong themes are represented in this book and I loved how well it was written. Their Spice is a complete other story and SOOOOO GOOOOD! Summer has begun and this book makes your temperatures go even higher! I pray for you to have something to cool down because you will need it!

I am so impressed with the world building Finley Fenn has done in this series! From the history of the orcs and their relationship with the humans to the culture and traditions of the individual orc clans, there is so much detail and thought put into everything. The Beauty and the Orcs is a little bit less angsty than some of the previous books, so for me I felt like we could enjoy some of the details, such as the Great Grisk Shop-showroom even more because this read was a bit more cozy and a bit less stressful than the first few books of the series.

Finley did an awesome job of creating these three loveable characters who all had great emotional growth by the end. To write a throuple where the chemistry between all three is equally enthralling is quite an accomplishment, but you couldn't find a trio who are more compatible than Kitty, Varinn and Thrain. The history between Varinn and Thrain had me weepy and I was convinced Kitty was the person they needed. Thrain's alcoholism was dealt with so carefully and kindly. It felt honest and true to life.

A recurring thread in this series that I enjoy is that each fmc ends up contributing to the community in ways the orcs don't expect. They quickly come to realise what they were missing and show their appreciation by taking the best care of the women. I could read this a million times and never get sick of it. It's so good. It reminds me we all have something to offer our community or family, even if we don't think so like Kitty did in the beginning.

I also love love love the spice in these books and Beauty was no different. It was so creative and very "grisk"! I can't wait to read whichever story Finley writes next.

Wonderfully angsty characters, with a sweet h who is pregnant, an H with an addiction, and other H who is seen as their judge and jury. This story is how they learn to see beyond appearances. Loved seeing them work together. Liked this trio very much.

The Thoughtful Throuple of Orc Mountain 💚

Another home run by Finley! I’ve wanted to learn more about our Grisk Disaster Twins, Varinn and Thrain, since we got to know them better in Governess and the Orcs. Varinn is such a good teacher, it was obvious he deserved a son of his own ❤️ I was immediately invested in Kitty and her keen eye for the trade business - what a great new aspect to bring to our Orc Mountain family! And we get to grow with Thrain as he struggles with his substance issues. Fans of the miscommunication trope, get excited for a triple serving! Through it all, we get the sneaky orc schemes, the overthinking human, the bond of love and brotherhood, and the happiness of finding one’s place.

And as per usual with our naughty orcs and their mates, expect plenty of… ahem… ✨juicy juicy bananas and peaches✨. And glimmering Grisk gold!

I loved the tie in to more of the Orc mythology and learning about the Orc family history, it makes the world feel even more complete and I can’t wait for the next book!

This book was something else. Very gratuitous! So much so, I started skipping a few scenes! So much fluid and squelching and prostrating!

I loved the dynamic and the angst between the MC’s. I love Fenn’s writing style. I wish she would write some more mage books, but I’ve heard she abandoned them to focus on the orcs. It’s a shame, because the mage books are my favorite by this author.

DNF @ 84%.

The "but no, but yes, but we can't, but we must" of Finley Fenn books gets so tedious sometimes. As does the FMC being an overly nice milquetoast.

What a deeply uncomfortable FMC to read. Bowing, scraping, begging for attention, begging to be chosen. Blegh! 😮‍💨😣

Also, I'm not a fan of a throuple where the woman is an afterthought. The way this story played out the FMC could have not even been there. She was such a backseat character. The author could have just made a MM romance about one partner struggling with addiction and them finding a surrogate once he was sober. Varinn was a POS and Thrain constantly made all the attention go to him and made every moment about himself or himself and Varinn.

I found myself skipping spicy scenes. I have never in my life skipped a spicy scene. But they were so male centered, I was so over it. They barely even touched her.

This book was needlessly overlong too.

Dammarr was lovely though.

This took me so long to finish because it is just all smut. I never thought I’d say this but like… where is the plot? Why was there 300 pages of sucking d*ck? I don’t know!!

Kitty gets pretty drunk after she gets dumped and has a one night stand with an orc. She ends up pregnant and goes to seek out this orc but comes across his very upset mate instead.

This was a little slow to get started. I felt that Kitty is kept in the dark for a while and she is so very willing to please, it takes a time before the reader gets to start to piece together what is going on. F.F. keeps you distracted by giving you a bl*wjob about every other page. I also tend to get frustrated by the writing style sometimes, there’s a lot of interrupting thoughts, sidelong looks and grimaces, that she doesn’t clue you into until much later.

However, I really enjoyed being back on orc mountain. There is a lot of day to day goings on and you’re just along for the ride. It’s such a kinky inclusive place to be.

The dynamic between Kitty, Varinn and Thrain was fascinating. Once we settled into the story - like 45%. I loved it. Kitty and Thrain start to really realize themselves. Daddy Varinn was a surprise. He had a majorly dominant personality in and out of the bedroom. So it was a fun dynamic to read about. I was glad that a lot of this focused on adjusting into this poly relationship and the pregnancy (past 20%), is an afterthought not the focus. There is a ton of kinky play with s*x toys. I mean, this book has so much s*x. But with Varinn being such a gentle dom - lots of denial, praise, and rewards - there was so much that came to light during these s*xy times.

So it’s a rocky, angsty ride but by the end of the story there is a great grovel (Kitty deserved it!!) and they all 3 settle into a relationship dynamic I really enjoyed. I felt the relationship building was a lot more balanced than in the maid in the orcs.

I loved the substance abuse disorder subplot, it was handled well, and the non-binary subplot with Dammar. And I adored Kitty’s character so much! She deserved all the worship she gets.

"But it is to our gain, to know that you're comfortable and content," she replied[...]"And it's to your credit most of all," she continued. "When you feel at home in your own skin, and your own clothing. That's going to help grant you peace, isn't it?”

I am absolutely devastated that this is over for now. I shall be crying in a corner from a reading slump until I can get over this.

Katharine “Kitty” finds herself dumped by her benefactor. After all the business acumen she’s given him, the connections, her body, he leaves her high and dry and heartbroken. What’s a girl to do but find someone new? And she does for one night, with a handsome, clever, rakish orc named Thrain.

But Thrain was deep in his cups, all but mated to another, and jumps out of bed the next morning with a fire behind him, leaving Kitty desolate and alone, and pregnant with his son. So when she finds herself unbearably sick, unable to fend for herself, and homeless, she decides to travel to orc mountain in search of Thrain in hopes he will help her.

Instead, she’s found by Varinn, a large, controlling, kind orc who just so happens to be Thrain’s ex. He vows to care for Kitty and her son, revealing that Thrain has a problem, and he needs her help to set him straight, as he would do anything for Thrain, and thus begins their farce.

Kitty and Varinn work together to heal Thrain, to push him to be a better father, a better Grisk, and to fight against the illness binding him.

This one was such an up and down. There were barely any outside conflicts and it really focused on the couple and their relationship and watching them all heal and learn and be honest with each other. And Varinn’s absolute devotion and reverence to not only his mates and his son but also to his entire clan was just so heart warming. Ugh. Had me crying in the club more than once.

After the first two I read in the series, I did expect these characters to argue a lot too (which has honestly been one of the bigger problems I had with the series) but was pleasantly surprised that Kitty was a much calmer main lead.

Except Varinn actually says something early on that would have had me fuming the entire book! I received what I wanted, but at what cost?

In all seriousness though, I rather enjoyed our trio in this book. There’s still a bit too much uncertainty and miscommunication going on for my taste, but Fenn does write a story that keeps me invested regardless.

OMG Finley Fenn has done it again. This book has super sweet Grisk disaster boys, a FMC who is quietly brilliant, and heart wrenching insight into a piece of Orc Mountain history that had only been hinted at in the past.

I particularly loved her treatment of the substance abuse recovery process. It was so gentle but with firm boundaries, and the rewards for success were *ahem* WELL worth it, IMHO.

Also, Finley Fenn is the master of navigating the relationship dynamics related to their preferences. It's not the first time she's written something that I never thought I would enjoy reading about, and left me on the other side like, "I can see why people like that." It's masterful.

(I was provided with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.)

Listen, the world building, character development and smut is on fucking point. I get that it’s not in everybody’s preferences but this is a different narrative and a very unique way of writing. Fenn is all about freedom and loyalty, strong women that are just starting to find their feet in a very ancient society were their rights are very much crippled. It’s what I love the most about this series, how little by little you can see the development.

Maybe a bit long this one and kind of in the same train of the other MMF book in the series but it’s totally enjoyable, I would love to see another trio where the love comes at the same time for the 3 of them or that the males didn’t share such a strong bond first as I felt a few times the female was a little bit left out even though at the end it all works out.

Again, I’m a huge fan since I saw the recommendation on Ruby Dixon’s fb page, didn’t hesitate and started the series, it was different, it was strangely addictive and still is.

Now, who wants to buy shit loads of condensed milk? 🤤😅 or maybe if you are a little bit more adventurous, shit loads of baileys? Hahah. Good reading ppl.

It was so great to be back in Orc Mountain with Finley Fenns Orc Sworn Series. I love this series so much, one of my top monster reads of all time and each time a new book in the series is released they get better and better! These aren’t your average fluffy monster romance reads. They’re filled with real issues and mental health problems that the characters have to work through.

I really liked how this one got started and how the FMC met the orcs. My heart ache for the things the FMC went through and the things both MMCs go through. Life isn’t always easy at Orc Mountain. One MMC has a substance use disorder and it makes their relationship unsteady trying to maneuver their way through it. They all wanted the best for one another.

The MMCs were already ‘together’ but Kitty made their relationship so much stronger and helped bring them to a much better place.

The smut in this one. Holy Christ. If you’ve never read Finley Fenn smut then you’re seriously missing out. Lots of toy usage, piercings, dominating and submitting. Thrain has such a dirty dirty mouth, I loved it!

There’s a non-binary side character in this one and we slowly get to see Kitty help them find themselves and I loved seeing that representation!

If you enjoy monster romance and haven’t started this series then go buy book 1 asap!

good, but really not my thing

I’ve been into the Orc Sworn series, bc I love a good angsty, smutty romance, but this book took a bit of a different tone from the rest.
While there was still a ton of angst, it was smothered in groveling (just not my kink) and redundant uncertainty (genuinely frustrating) from the FMC, Kitty, and secondary MMC, Thrain.
It was also almost 800 pages😵‍💫, and with how often the characters repeated themselves, it really didn’t need to be. I was skimming at the end there, because I just wanted that HEA and to be able to say that I finished it.
I enjoyed the story themes/character development overall— overcoming addiction (Thrain), relaxing authoritarian rule (Varinn), and realizing one’s self worth (Kitty). I also am a fan of the grumpy/sunshine and throuple tropes, but I wouldn’t read it again.

Back to Orc Mountain 🏔️!

This was an okay entry to me. I loved the angst, and I enjoyed Kitty but for some reason Vairnn was not it. He was a little too spoiled with his worshipers Thrain and Kitty kissing his feet haha.

I do think this could have been cut significantly. At about 60% things took a turn and we had some last minute “secrets” get revealed that I felt didn’t need to be there (looking at you Thrain).

I did love the addition of Fenlik and he felt like almost a throwback to the start of our bloodthirsty orcs. Still crossing my fingers for a more dominate heroine to put some of these orcs in their place. They have enough “help-mates”

If Finley keeps writing these I will keep reading them ☺️

I have been waiting for Thrain and Varrins story since we met them. I will admit this had somewhat the same feel of the maid and the orcs, not necessarily bad but noteworthy. This is definitely heavier with the addicton aspect but I appreciate the storyline and the realism.

Overall I did still enjoy this chapter in the series. Not my favorite but they cant all be. If you enjoy any of the previous youll like this.
