Piaget for Educators

Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development, because of its tremendous significance for understanding how humans develop, has special relevance for educators who wish to become better teachers. Moving from the theoretical to the practical, this volume aims to address, through narrative and example, the specific needs of educators by showing the usefulness of Piagetan theory when making educational decisions about children, curriculum, and instructional strategies. Chapters include guest editorials highlighting aspects of Piaget's theory not already covered. In addition, each chapter includes references, questions, and interview tasks designed to help readers extend and apply their understanding of Piaget's ideas. Short self-evaluations covering the content of the chapters are also included. This book represents an effort both to present Piaget's theory and to make the theory practical for educators.
