Edwyn Gray is a British author who specialises in naval writing. Educated at the Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe, Gray read economics at the University of London and then joined the British civil service. His writing career began in 1953 when he started writing for magazines. His first book was published in 1969, and he became a full-time writer in 1980.
After being declared sunk after a sea strike off Norway, Nick Hamilton and the Crew of the submarine RAPIER continue to fight for the English Navy as hostilities break out in WWII. RAPIER and some foreign submarines become the 'Ghost Fleet', conducting missions in support of the Admiralty. They are sent to rescue British troops trapped by German forces at Dunkirk and then another surprising turn of events forces Nick to question his Government's orders.
