This book does not provide magical keys to understanding or secret revelations, neither does it crack any codes to unlock the "never-before-unveiled" secret message of the Book of Revelation. It is a straight-forward exposition of the message of Revelation, begining with the belief that it was given to inform us of the great principles that shape our world. There is a Truth-teller and there is a liar, and Revelation reveals their character, their works, and their end, (at least in the case of the liar.) "Revelation Plain and Simple" takes the reader passage by passage through Revelation as God tears the mask off Satan and reveals the fallacy of his lies and the perversion of his character, all in time for the reader to turn away from the false "truth" of the enemy and believe God. The principles taught in Book of Revelation are incredibly relevant and practical for any person living anywhere at any time. The Book of Revelation is so much more than the basis for charts of end-time chronology. It is the gracious revelation of the Righteous character of God, the powerful and Victorious Lamb of God, and the lying character of the enemy of our souls. Revelation tells us about the end-times in a way that is relevant for all time.

The Book of Revelation is incredibly instructive, powerfully positive, and completely understandable. It is the desire of the author that we be freed from our fear of this wonderful book and faithfully believe and obey what it says.

This is one of the best books on Revelation that I have ever read. It doesn't attempt to put the events John saw into some sort of timetable or chronological order like so many books do; and it isn't so vague and symbolic as to not be relevant to us at all. It isn't meant to be an in-depth treatise written for scholars, but an aid to help the average believer hear the words of our Lord as He speaks to us through the ages.

Pastor MacKinney does not bring his own ideas or preconceptions to the table. He lets the words of Jesus, and the vision given to John by God, and recorded by him, speak to us. They are relevant to Christians throughout the ages, and they are relevant today. The book of Revelation itself will speak to us and unseal its mysteries as we go through the events described within, if indeed we are the generation to live through the end times. Because Pastor MacKinney allows it to do this, this is one of the most relevant and practical books on Revelation I have ever read. Its words resonated in my spirit and on page after page, there were new insights I had missed before even though I have read this last book in the Bible many times. It is joyful and anticipatory; not scary and anxiety-producing.

God gave us this vision, not to be a mystery only understood by Bible scholars, but for believers to understand and take to heart. "Revelation Plain and Simple" is an important book that helps us do that, and I heartily recommend it.
