A dedicated Irish bigfoot hunter and his doting granddaughter who is determined to prove her grandfather really has seen the big furry creatures for real this time. A werewolf tasked with protecting the mated bigfoot pair and making sure they are not discovered. What could possibly go wrong?
This was a short and sweet paranormal romance with Roarke, the brother of the hero from the first book in the series. I enjoy Vicki Lewis’s werewolf packs, humor, and steamy romance. Camping with a werewolf who is determined he won’t fall in love with a human while you both track bigfoot? Fun times!

A Werewolf in the North Woods is a cute, flirty read with paranormal undertones but the bulk of the story line focuses on lovin'. The Bigfoot intrigue was a fun added bonus and offered an interesting twist on an old myth. It's not essential to have read A Werewolf in Manhattan prior to tackling the second novel. The main characters of this series are brothers but other than that each story is independent of the other. A great read if you're looking for a few giggles and some R-rated action. For something that comes off as Chick-Lit, there's a surprising amount of family values and monogamy worked into the plot. All around, A Werewolf in the North Woods is a straight-forward, feel-good book. A great way to break things up if your typical reads are on the darker side.
I got a kick out of the fact that Bigfoot is alive and well in this story. Not only that, but Roark is actually trying to re-locate them to a safer habitat in order to protect them from prying eyes. They have a few funny characteristics that I couldn't help but chuckle over. For starters, they smell absolutely horrible! This little tidbit obviously made it easier for a werewolf to track them. There are a few Bigfoot nuts in this tale. One in particular believes everything that he's ever heard about the creature. At first his neon outfit, harmonica serenades and home-made gadgets seemed a little far fetched. Later on, I thought about all of the people who wear aluminum on their heads and then his character didn't seem that out there.
I enjoyed how Vicki Lewis Thompson focused on a were's heightened sense of smell. Most authors seem to overlook it which is surprising considering it's one of the distinguishing traits of canines. The main reason for Roark's initial attraction to Abby was her enticing smell. I'm not talking about perfume but rather her "natural" scent. The duo goes hiking through the wilderness in search of Bigfoot and Winchell comments on her unpleasant sweaty state. Wallace shocks her by admitting that the more ripe she smells the higher his attraction is to her. That's a new one! I don't know of any men who prefer their women to be stinky! I really appreciated Thompson's attention to detail and the way that she uses a few werewolf quirks to her advantage. Plus it was good for a laugh!
The characters and world aren't overly detailed but I hadn't expected them to be either. I got exactly what I wanted out of this novel: sex and werewolves! Earlier I mentioned that there is a surprising amount of moral fiber in this read. Abby and Roark's relationship started off as a physical one but it quickly became apparent that it was more than that. I liked that they took their growing feelings seriously and that the nookie only occurred between the two main characters. I'm not a huge fan of overly promiscuous heroines. I admire Winchell's dedication to her grandfather and her willingness to back him up even if the old man's claims bordered on ridiculous. That's how family members should treat each other; with respect and affection.
A Werewolf in the North Woods offers a girlie perspective on the furrier side of paranormal fiction. I had a smile on my face the entire time. Well, except when I was reading the naughtier parts that is. Then I was trying to hide my physical responses to the content from prying eyes. Reading at work during my lunch hour can be awkward at times! I'm hoping for many more installments in the Wild About You series. Wolves, smexy men and sizzling hot bootie calls are an explosive combination that I'll never be able to get enough of!

This one was much better than the first. I found the story line without as many holes, although some times just conveniently fall into place, I found the situation more enjoyed, and I found the characters more enjoyable. Although I loved the idea that Emma, the lead female in the first in the series, was a writer there is something about Abby that seems to make her more relatable. Maybe it’s the fact that she is doing everything for her Grandfather. I dunno, but I know I like her. I know that I like that she uses her feminine wiles to get Roarke’s attention. I like that this one took place outdoors too. Something about them not being tied to a room all the time made this book far more fun to read. Then there was Roarke. This guy has man masks to wear. The nerdy professor (he takes on an Indiana Jones persona thinking people will take him seriously), then there is the Alpha male strong and determined, and then there is the shy guy. This book had many different emotions, many sexy moments, and a pretty great story line that introduced some furry new beasts.
Good:
Abby: She’s determined. I like that. She is not afraid to blackmail someone for a good cause. I like that too.
Roarke: He’s nervous and shy to shift in front of Abby, he’s also possessive, passionate, determined, a genius, and doesn’t want to fight with her. Love it!
Bad:
There are some minor things such as the emphasis on expensive watches, Abby coasting by with some not so believable lies and some awkward storyline moments. But, although they were awkward they didn’t necessarily hurt the over all story
Overall (Writing style, story line, and general):
Overall the writing was decent, the characters were loveable, and the story was one that I appreciated reading. I’m definitely picking up the third in the series, and I will have to check out the novella. I have to say I am glad that I found another adult series of the supernatural genre.

I loved her Nerd series, while the world-building is really weird here.
Paranormal-lite.
I didn't get into the first book not into this either. The romance was mainly boinking and then suddenly the heroine is all fine with all the secrecy of the werewolf world after disliking it for most of the book.
I prefer her straight-up contemporaries, feels less forced and natural.

About half way through reading a novel, I can always tell when it’s going to be a five star read. I start deciding what I want to write in my review while I’m still reading. Now though, I’m sitting here and have no idea what to write. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy this read, because I did. It’s a fantastic way to sit and kill a few hours. The characters were just okay, not really that memorable, so I’m not sure what I can say about them. Overall, it’s a cute story. There are some humorous moments, some sexy moments, and some slightly suspenseful moments. I’m not dying to read book three in the series, but I will probably read it when I want something light and fluffy.

I really enjoyed this fairly lighthearted shifter romance. It was not a wisecracking joking type of book. Just not deep, dark and ominous. Nor was it erotic although there were several nice love scenes. I liked both the hero and the heroine. She was well written as a person with a background that would lead her to accepting the existence of werewolves fairly easily. The shifter world was drawn in lightly but it all made sense. I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series and I'm quite looking forward to them.

Did not finish. I read half the book. Conversations felt like TV sitcom style dialogue.
Some reviewers liked it for the perky chick lit feel. But it didn’t work for me.
Roarke is a wolf-human-shape shifter. His community of werewolves keep their existence secret from humans. Abby discovers he is a werewolf and blackmails him. She tells him she wants to accompany him in a search for Bigfoot. Roarke wants to relocate Bigfoot to a safe area away from humans. So they take camping gear and head to the woods for a few days.
If Roarke searched alone, he would do it in wolf form and be fast. He would use smell and speed. But since Abby is with him they travel human walking speed which is slower. I was irritated with Abby. She repeatedly says “I’m not going to slow you down. I’m going to pull my own weight and carry my own back pack.” She says this as if I’m supposed to admire her? Her mere presence slows him down. I did not admire her.
Abby has been hot for Roarke since the moment she saw him. She talks him into having sex. After she has an orgasm, she changes her mind and stops without pleasuring him. She says she made a mistake. They are not to have any more sex. She doesn’t want to be another notch on his bedpost. This did nothing for me.

The narrator Abby Craden made it worse. I did not like her interpretation of Abby. It was glib and sarcastic. I would have read some of Abby’s sentences with a more sensitive and sincere feeling. Some of Abby’s sarcastic lines: “Is that so?” and “Thank you very much.”

Just finished the sequal to "werewolf in manhatten". Here we have the story of Roarke, Aiden's brother, and Abby.
It all starts with a big foot sighting by Abby's grandfather. He is discredited and made to feel the fool by Roarke. Roarkes is just trying to protect the big foot creatures as well as the secrecy of Were's who own land near the sighting.
Abby is mad. Mad that her grand father has been made to look a fool. She catches Roarke in the woods shifting and gets a few snaps. She uses those pics to blackmail Roarke to taking her with him when he searches for the big foot.
So in the course of three days they fall madly in love and decide to overcome their diffrences of speices.
Okay, the story was fun. I loved the annoying donald character. He is a Big foot fan hunting him down. He gets tangled up into their mess and believes that the were's the are kidnapped by are actually vampires. Pretty funny stuff.
What I don't like...I hate these lets make a lifetime commitment after three days of uninterrupted horizontal get-to-know ya's. Yes this chic lit paranormal romance scprit, But I hate it. it drives me nuts. At least with the first book in this story the characters had met before. The main character their had put the female under surveliance for awhile so he knew her character pretty well.
That aside, their romance was fun read. I particullary liked the word play and references to little red ridding hood. I like lippy female leads.

I thought this was going to be a supernatural romance mystery, like many other books I enjoy, but this is more of a straight romance with lots of sex and very little plot. I like this author, especially her Nerd series of romance novels, but this was not my favorite.

Insurance Adjuster Abby Winchell wants to ensure her grandfather has peace of mind and he won't have it until someone proves the sightings of the Bigfoot are real. Abby just needs to prove it's true and she knows that her grandfather is seen as an old cuke and not taken seriously.
She must work fast and take care of matters before her grandfather gets even more determined to stay put and prove everyone against his findings wrong. It could be a dangerous play either way.

I'm not much of a paranormal reader, but I have gotten hooked on this series. I really liked Roarke in the first book, and I was glad to see that this book was about him. And then the Indiana Jones jokes started, and I just went head over heels for the guy. I mean, a hot werewolf in nerd clothes? Sign me up!
When the action heads out into the woods, things get really hot. Abby and Roarke can't keep their hands off of each other even though they know they can't be together. Their love scenes are passionate and tender. One particular scene in the rain is just breathtaking.
In between, they have great conversations. Abby doesn't let Roarke get away with anything. She holds her own every time, and that is impressive considering all she is dealing with. She earns Roarke's respect at every turn. They make a great team as they face several obstacles. They are a terrific couple all the way around.

Totally in love with Roarke, but I think I gained a little extra appreciation for Aidan too.
I liked how this book contemplated the whole werewolf thing, and the discrimination against mating with a human as well as the sacrifices that must be made in order for that mating to be successful.
This book once again proves that not only is Thompson gifted in writing intimacy and romance, but she is also a gifted story teller. She thinks about all the details and the reader is fully immersed in a whole other word.

Abby & Roarke begrudgingly take a hike together to find Sasquatch, what an adventure. Their trek brings them too close together to deny their attraction. They are very protective of each other and her knowledge of his family secret brings danger to the camp. The tales they tell are elaborate, antics hilarious and entertaining, their sacrifice is admirable, their chemistry force them to deal with their feelings regardless..

Poor Roarke Wallace. His brother just married a human. He feels that weres should just mate among themselves. Abby Winchell is another story. She was out one night with her grandfather's camera and she has some amazing photos. Now Roarke has a choice. Either he can help her get proof that Bigfoot exists or she will release the photos that there are werewolves around. What's a werewolf supposed to do? Especially when Abby's scent is driving him crazy. Just a fun book to read!

A fun read
Overall, a fun and enjoyable read. Abby and Roarke were as much fun as Emma and Aidan. Hugely different challenges, but just as fun. I enjoy how these fiercely independent human females tame the wildly alpha werewolves.
I am a bit disappointed with the abrupt ending. What happened with Gentry? Did he suddenly decide to quit being an a$$? Was Grandpa okay with his resettlement? Too many unresolved threads. Otherwise, a fun read.

Not sure blackmailing a werewolf is a good idea...
What I enjoyed:
* I liked Grandpa Earl, who has spent his life searching for Big Foot
* Abby was nice and I liked how she wanted what was best for Earl

2.5 I didn't enjoy this one as much as the first book. The cheese factor was turn up a notch as to almost be too cheesy for me. I think it was the addition of Bigfoot that threw it for me For a species who wants to be anonymous, the wolf packs in this series do a horrible job of keeping things secret. Not sure if I will continue with the series.

This was a pretty good sequel. The author is definitely refining her writing as each book comes along. It was fun to watch the world build through the brothers eyes.
Definitely Rom/com meets hiking in the PNW. Would be a great airport read or if you're looking for something quick and easy going. I'm definitely enjoying this world so far and I'm excited to see where it goes from here.

What a Great Story!!

Abby's Grandfather had sighted a mated Sasquatch pair on his property. This sighting was causing her grandfathers neighbor( who was an alpha of a werewolf pack) fear of being discovered. So they had sent a college professor, who was knowledgeable in to discredit his sighting and relocate the Sasquatch pair.

This book could have been called the werewolf and the redhead go camping. Roarke and Abby are both in the woods for different reasons; Roarke needs to find a mythical creature and Abby needs to get some answers. Along the way, lust turns to love and two people find true happiness.

I can not believe that it has taken 10 years for me to get around to reading this series. I have really enjoyed the author's writing, very good storylines. I have enjoyed werewolf books that had them still in secret from the humans. On to the next one!

Better than the first book. This book was a sweet lighthearted romantic romp through the woods. A couple of scenes had me laughing.

Oh my this book was funny and some good steamy scenes. I couldn't put it down it was that good. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
