Gorgeous book! I love that the chapters were arranged by colour. I found the pink and purple chapters particularly beautiful - they’re not colours I would usually choose, which just shows how carefully-chosen and varied the shades that the author chose. A great book for colour inspiration, not just for interior design but for any other colours you might choose.
When we bought our home, the previous owners had painted everything white. It was the most boring interior you have ever seen. So, we set out to paint each room a different color. It is not as easy as it may seem, and a lot of the paint sites are very staid and don't take many chances when they recommend color choices.
This book, this amazing book, goes through all the colors of the rainbow, and suggest colors that will work with each major group. And then shows the colors in action, and pints out what colors are represented in each of the rooms that it portrays.
It was hard to choose which pictures to show, to represent all this vibrant color. The rooms go from rustic, to contemporary, to out of this world. The examples are well thought out and quite stunning.
I would recommend this book for the casual and dedicated DYI workers, who is trying to get the ook they want, without having to try every color in the rainbow.

The choice of colors of your walls, your floors, your furniture is one of the fundamentals of arranging your living space. As I am soon to be moving out into an apartment of my own, I decided to read Love Color for some inspiration. I was not disappointed. The book delivers a great many amazing pictures of houses, flats, rooms, corridors, entrances, etc., arranged according to the color they represent, from blue and green through the warm colors (yellow, orange, red), through pink and purple, through greys, “naturals” and white. Most of the pictures are accompanied by a small graph showing the color contrasts in the space depicted.
My particular color “love affair” has always been with blue, and I have to say that after reading this book, this is still true. The blue chapter (and, to a lesser extent, the green one) was my favourite, and spoke to me the most. However, all the chapters are worth looking through, even if the color combinations are sometimes a little too intense to put in an apartment.
A book worth checking out if you are planning on arranging a new living space or renovating your old one.
What a gorgeous book! I feel like I've been on a mini vacation just looking at the beautiful (and of course colorful) photos. The layout is clean and crisp and the information is informative and accessible. I highly recommend it.
I've always been a bit boring when it comes to decorating. I use some color, but tend toward more neutral and functional rather than going for pretty your exciting. This book covers all things color, from figuring out the colors that speak to you to assume pops of color to using color to give a room the feel you want. The photographs throughout offer ample inspiration for adding color to your own home.
Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Ivy Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
This is a gorgeous book full of color inspiration in all palettes. I really enjoyed the fact that the color inspiration is decidedly international and has an old world aesthetic, instead of the cookie-cutter home decors in so many decorating books. There are really saturated colors here, with lots of photos of vividly painted villages, weathered walls, textiles, and other color scheme ideas besides the standard pretentious living room or BH&G magazine kitchen. The author also uses clothing, nature and other elements for color inspiration, which really appealed to me. I liked her idea of gathering colorful items in colors that we love and then putting them together to decide on color schemes. I also liked the focus on using different textures and materials to manipulate color.
There are some colors that I generally really don't like, but I found myself liking them in some of the examples in this book. There were many that I really didn't like, but I take that as a good sign because it shows what a range of styles and tastes are represented.
At $35, I think the retail price for this book is a little high. I'd recommend getting it from the library first and purchasing it if it's a good fit.
I viewed a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
Love Color is a gorgeous book filled with ideas on choosing the right color combination and incorporating these colors in your home. There are so many color palettes to choose from, and Love Color includes tips that will boost the reader’s confidence in selecting their own color style when sprucing up their homes. It also offers tips on textures, patterns, lighting and choosing colors that can improve the reader’s mood and enhance their emotional well being.
The photos in this book are stunning! The colors are rich and vibrant and I like the concept used in this book where each chapter is sorted by color, thus making it easy to find ideas. Each chapter starts with a brief overview of the color discussed and then proceeds to show different color palettes used for each interior. I’m seriously considering buying a paper copy of this book. If you’re looking for inspirations for your home, this book is for you.

Dislikes: I only read through the blue and got really sick of hearing the word inky. The author is a color connoisseur, why can't they come up with other color descriptions besides inky?
That the whole books is around decorating a living space. I kept thinking how the advice was great for things like coordinating outfits and perhaps even makeup, plus it would apply to even more people. After I thought that, I did see 2 outfits. One wasn't my style, but one I want to purchase.
The book was called Love Color instead of Love Colour? Colour is used all over within the book. Either they needed to change all of it or leave the title to match.
Liked: The color swatch in the back. That could come in handy.
The look book full of color. It gave me new ideas.
The author stating that you make your combinations the way you want them. Who cares what others thing. I agree, not everything has to be for others. Do some things just for you.
I enjoyed this look through choosing and co-ordinating a colour palette for your home. The photos of actual rooms and houses were accompanied by a colour block to show which colours were used in which proportions, not just the objects or walls we tend to focus on, and we could see if adding a touch of yellow was a good mix for us or not.
I enjoy seeing beach houses on holiday, or villas, in strong colours, but I would not want to live with that all year. As for anyone with a family member with autism or ADHD, I thought a section should be given to explain that garish patterns and strong colours can be too upsetting. We are told which are calming neutral colours. We should also be told that dark colours are depressing, that paint shades are graded by how much light they reflect, and that a dark or strong paint is very hard to remove, requiring many coats of pale paint.
Looking through the book, I came away thinking that I am happy to wear jewel colours or pastels, but I would only want to paint my house in pastels and add jewel cushions and books. We can all choose our own preferences. I downloaded a copy from Net Galley. This is an unbiased review.
Good: * Lots of photos of colorful walls, furniture, and objects. * Lots of affirmation for letting your own preferences drive your color choices.
Not so: * Very few of the featured colors resonated with me at all, despite my liking of color. * Lots of rustic images: good for helping us think about color over perfection, but I was eventually turned off by so much looking aged, stained, patched, mismatched. * The final chapters on gray, black, brown, and white lost my attention: too dull. * Why change the title to the American spelling "Color" if you're just going to keep the British "colour" everywhere else in the book?
This was fun to page through—a lot of words, though. I mainly flipped through until I found a color or photograph that intrigued me and spent more time on those pages. I was surprised by the colors I was more drawn to!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this colorful book.
This book was a riot of color! It was full of helpful suggestions for combining and using color to express oneself. It was applicable to not only interior designers but also others such as quilters and fiber artists.
The photography was excellent and there was enough of it. It certainly helped to illustrate the creative juxtaposition of colors, clearly. This book would be a useful addition to the library shelf of anyone that works with color.
This is a gorgeous book. I love how each chapter is organised by colour So it's easy to find ideas. I'm the person who has a completely white house furniture walls etc but I love to add colour by using vibrant coloured cushions bedding and paintings. I must say this book is such a joy to read and look through and you will definitely be left wanting to change something in your home!

The book is quite different from what I thought it would be. Only after 40 pages, there’s a “how to use this book” section. Frankly, it doesn’t feel like just anyone would be able to pick this title and read it leisurely. Definitely not feeling welcome to atmosphere where the expert tells you the know-how about colours.
A fascinating book about colours and how to use it. I was enthralled by the wonderful pictures, the colours and find the text engaging and full of useful ideas. Highly recommended! Many thanks to Quarto Publishing and Netgalley for this ARC
Love Color: Choosing Colors to live with by Anna Starmer is a new stunning book by Quarto Publishing. A visual, wonderful colored reality this one, created for inspiring your good taste and for propose to all of you the perfect and colored house of your dreams. It's simple after all to transform thanks to our personal taste a common, simple house in the essence of ourselves. It's just necessary a bit of imagination, and following our tastes, without, adds the author, any kind of fear, because our house is our house and it must reflects our person.
And so...Let's stop with that anonymous white, without character; let's add something about ourselves in the house, the most private space in grade of giving us protection and safety: the mirror of our soul.
Each of us have special affectionate colors and they will become the life companion of our existence. We can see them reflected everywhere and they will calm us, they will present us the best mood, they will relax us or they will donate excitement, strength, energy. Sure: positive vibes. They in fact reflect our character.
Where to start if we want to painting again our house for example? The author suggests of buying several magazines for a lot of advice; and using, let me add, this book wisely, adding some imagination, you will create the best palettes of colors for your house and your life, for experiencing in every corner of your house a special place where to find a spark of you.
Highly recommended also if you love special books, interiors, houses.
I love this book, it is so fabulous - the colour are so glorious and just so "got to have". We have been living in our newly moved in house for a year - with white walls, ceiling, doors - in fact everything white. I have been itching to get my hands on a paint brush, but was unsure on what or how to start.. Now I want it all, at the turn of each page - I just fall in love, and it happened over and over again. This is a beautiful challenging book, which give you the incentive to be yourself, to use colour that makes you feel good - even if its white - but to use it with feeling. Even if you don't want to go completely with the walls, some of those wonderful effects can certainly creep in as burst of colour in accessories to light the spirit and challenge the mind. Love this book.
This gorgeous book by a color expert gives you lots of excellent ideas for choosing color schemes. I appreciated that the author urges readers to start with items of sentimental significance in creating color design choices. Many palettes are featured in the book, with tips on contrasting colors, working with textures, and use of lighting. The author does a great job of bolstering readers’ confidence in making bolder uses of color and incorporating colors that simply put them in a good mood.
Thank you Quatro Publishing - Ivy Press for this ARC .
