did-not-finish

[Adult reviewer, YA book]

The first of the 2 stories was... okay. Predictable, more insta-love than actual plot. A potentially fun part was when the sisters switched places, but that was not taken advantage of, humor-wise or otherwise. There was also a timing/appearance of a character scene that was laughably coincidental, and removed any hope of suspension of disbelief.

I have no interest in present in reading the 2nd story. So marking this one as DNF (did not finish) for now.

VERDICT: 2+ stars, not a 3 for me. Tweens or readers into insta-love will probably rate it much higher than I did. Adults may be a bit bored with this one; although there are a few mildly interesting scenes, it brings nothing new to the genre except the twin sisters angle (one goth, one not).

Thank God I'm finished this book!!!

Ok, where to start. The Blood Coven Vampires, Volume 1 contained the first two books in the series; Boys That Bite and Stake That.

Boys That Bite, I wasn't really sure what to think of it. It was OK with very annoying aspects. Well I thought the protagonist was annoying so that's pretty much a bad start. The storyline was fast paced which was good but everything else for me just fell apart. I just couldn't get into the world. It was like completely not what I was thinking and a complete modern twist that I can't say I liked.

Other that all those spoilery things that annoyed me I really disliked the protagonist. And her boyfriend was called Magnus!! You can guess what Magnus I was thinking about everytime I read the name - Magnus Bane. Unfortunately he wasn't like Magnus Bane, but who could be??
Anyway I thought that this was slightly better than the next installment.

Stake That!, I think was worse than the first book. We change protagonists in this book and we are reading from the point of view of Rayne, Sunny's (the first protagonists) twin sister. Rayne is a big blogger so as you can guess this book is written like a blog with comments and eveything at the end of the chapters. It's written like a blog till the last few chapters until Rayne finally figures out that posting up your life involving vampires, slayers, and mastermind plans is not a good idea as abusive comments starts to be posted on her blog.
Like Sunny, Rayne is unbearable. She is even more annoying than her sister. FYI was definitely overused.
And one major thing that got to me was that the first chapter was the exact same as the last chapter of Boys That Bite, maybe a few words were changed but it was the same. There is recapping and then there is copying and pasting what you just wrote.
So, half way through this I was just there thinking "Why am I reading this, when I have so much better books on my shelves waiting to be read?" But I stuck it out till the end nevertheless.
This isn't the worst thing I've ever read but it's not far from it.
I'm not going to be reading the next installments.

Surprisingly pleasant is the only Way to describe this book. After reading the first half of the book I was extremely hyped. I fell in love with Sunny and Magnus' story and all I could think was YES! Another GOOD typical vampire story series along with Vampire Academy, Morganville Vampires and Twilight. If I'd had just read the first book, Boys That Bite, my review would have been a perfect four stars, but unfortunately I read volume one. So as soon as I finished book one I moved straight into book two and to my dismay I fell deeply disappointed. What happened to my favorite vampire Nd human couple? Well they were replaces by Sunnys twin sister's story Rayne. (frowny face) The second book was good for what it was but I still hold Magnus and Sunny above Rayne and Jareth since they seem like some mediocre duplicates to me. I was just anticipating hearing this amazing story about Magnus being all high and mighty and Sunny trying to fit in. Perhaps I was just looking for more book cliches when it comes to YA Supernatural Sci-Fi. It's cool this book moved a little outside the usual frame but I felt robbed of a good happy ending with Magnus and Sunny and after reading the second half now I feel robbed of Rayne and Jareth. But I am aware I have five more books to read so perhaps my reviews for the series will grow better with the series furthering. Furthermore it's a good book and is very interesting. Quick read and keeps my attention without making me bored or forcing me to start skimming. So 3 & q
1/2 stars and perhaps more as I continue the journey in the series.

So far I like this book. The story moves pretty quick and the charcters are interesting. However, the descriptions of the charcters is lacking, kind of lazy actually. Everybody looks like this or that actor...

Okay, so I finished this book. I've got to say I kind of liked the first half of the book better than the second. But all-in-all it's a pretty good story.

Full of filler. Contains books one and two. Full of contradictions. (Spoilers) Book one tells us that Rayne has a slight taste for red meat. (Raw hamburger in the fridge.) Book Two tells us that Rayne is strict vegetarian and gets sick at the sight of blood. If you can get over the contradictions, filler junk and whiney teen angst there is a really good story to be told. It just happens to be hidden under a thick layer of crap. Oh and now the mean cheerleaders are werewolves! Great.... It's like Buffy, The Lost Boys, Angel, a handful of pre-teens and R.L. Stine were thrown into a blender, made into paper and bound into a book.

Good book the only thing I really didn't like was when Rayne recaps her day on the blog. It kind of made me want to stop reading because I already read it once.

I almost missed this book so when I found it and started reading I was instantly hooked!!! I have had alot of misses on good stories for a while so I expected this book to be the same so I started lightly reading a bit of it to test it out and oh was a surprised! What got me was the tone of the author and how she expressed alot of the characters inner feelings. Sometimes it can get boring for characters to explain or emphasize the experience their having, but this was not the case. The spunky attitude of the characters had me feeling really connected. Like if I ever wrote a book this is the one that would be perfect and I have never felt this way before! Now at first I wasn't sure about having both sisters stories, and it took me a little with Rayne's side, but I quickly fell in love with the story and I even saw a side of Rayne that I didn't see in Sunny's story. The beginning of each journey was not ideal for the characters, but through going through obstacles they found alot about themselves and who they can be with the other person. I really hope other people will try this because I have to say it's a must read! (and I even got the autographed one!)

It was cute. It wasnt horrible but it wasnt an OMG book either. The story line was very cute and romantic but i just didnt like how everything went so fast! for example: 5 Seconds after she meets Lucifest he gets killed by some random fat slayer that popped out of the ceiling. It happens to be that on the day that Sunny sas that Heather is NEVER absent, two seconds later the teacher announces that shes absent. I just didnt like how that flowed but dont get me wrong i enjoyed the book. I gave it a 7 out of 10.

Another YA vampire series worth checking out.
These books are about a preppy sister and goth sister who become closer thanks to vampires. This series is packed with vampires, werewolves, vampire hunters, high school drama, and blogging. An enjoyable read with a romance like no other. The one sister becomes a Vampire Queens and the other a Vampire Hunter. Read to find out how they handle their new positions.

OMG really good. I loved it more then I thought I was going to. It was pretty intense and it made me cry, I was tricked about something. So romantice, all of the book. Sunny and Ryane are twins that are completly opposite from each other and in a way its like me and me! I'm like both of them. It was a really good book.

I don't recommend this for the under-15 set. It definitely shows that the series is intended for that particular demographic. Not a bad thing, but being 25 myself, I really can't relate to the teenage characters and don't care for them much either. I'm not sure I'm going to continue to read the series. Interesting addition to the world of YA vampire fiction, but sadly not memorable.

Surprisingly I actually really liked this. It's about two twins and how they become mixed up in the vamp world but in the process find their soul mates. Will read the other 5 books in the blood coven vampire series. :-)
