Good and useful content. Easy to read, understand and relate to. There are a lot of religious references from Bible, may be comes from the year the book was written in.
With one toddler and another kiddo on the way, I figured that this was an opportune time to do some reading about life balance. (Yes, I too question whether such a thing actually exists--especially when you have kids!) Even in the best of times, making self-care a priority is a constant struggle for me. So I need all the help I can get in this area.
This book contains a lot of common sense about mothers' needs and how to go about getting them met. But just because we know we should be doing something doesn't mean we know how to go about doing it. One of my great frustrations is when books tell you, "You should be doing thus and so" or "Don't do this," withour bothering to tell you how to do it or not to do it. The Mother Load fulfills the promise of its subtitle: How to Meet Your Own Needs While Caring for Your Family. Emphasis on the word "how." This book provides ample practical advice and suggestions to help moms, something so desperately needed in our be-all, do-all society, in which mothering can be an isolating and exhausting experience.
