After Nikki Turner read The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah she was dismayed that there weren't other books like it. "I wanted to write the kinds of books I wanted to read," said the bestselling author, whose 2002 debut novel, A Hustler's Wife, would go on to sell more than a few 100,000 copies.
While Nikki Turner's first two novels were published by a small publishing house in the Midwest, in 2004 she signed a 2-book deal with One World, an imprint of Ballantine Books, which is part of The Random House Publishing Group. After publishing the first book under that deal, The Glamorous Life in 2005 as well as a short story collection edited by Nikki, Street Chronicles: Tales from da Hood, One World quickly signed Nikki up for three more Nikki Turner Original novels and negotiated a deal with her for her own book line, Nikki Turner Presents. "I want to give new authors the same kind of opportunity I was given," said Nikki. "I want to produce authors who will be household names."

I'm not going to sugar coat this review. The book made no sense whatsoever. First of all, the chances of a 15 year old girl captivating the mind of a seasoned hustler is not believable. Then he meets her mother to ask her for permission to date her in full hustle gear, with a hustle mobile parked on the curb... I think not. Granted, the book is fictionally characterized, but the writer seems to try to base the theme on the realities of "the game." Not even close. It was the fairy tale version of young girls with rich dreams. I think this was a excuse to expose the use of street slang, and throw in a few clothing label names for added effect. If you want to read about life in this perspective, then read "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sister Souljah. She puts it down so real. And you walk away with a truer sense of being with a hustler.

READ EVERYTHING NIKKI TURNER! You will not be disappointed! She poured her whole heart into this series and it’s one of my all time favorites! This series is so real, so raw, so street, yet so eloquently written! I think this one may be my favorite in the series! It shows Yarni in a different ride or die while still developing a life in her own light.

I am truly enjoying this series. When your enemies are identified to you, what an eye opener. Is Dez and Yarni ever gonna be happy? Between their enemies and the Feds, they can’t catch a break.

The book that I read was "Forever a hustlers wife". This book was a very serious book. The wife happened to be the lawyer of a hustler, who went to prison for 10 years for a murder that he didn't commit. With her husband being around the wrong people,he now lives the drug dealer life. This book takes place in Richmond Virginia. The spark between Yarni Taylor and Des blossomed as soon as they met each other. Yarni who is the lawyer gets separated from her family and friends, because of the life she wants to live.

With her being a lawyer she is really risking it. Being a lawyer and having a drug dealer husband is HARD. When she had to deal with his case everything went down from there. The likes of this book is that the author did something different. She has a well known lawyer dating a drug dealer. In this world you don't really see many lawyers dating/messing around with a drug dealer. That was something very new. The dislikes of the book is that this book has mixed feelings. One chapter is all good then the next is all bad. Everything kept changing. For some reason I couldn't understand the book.

A recommendation to anyone about this book is that this book has ALOT of stuff going on. So anyone who likes books with a lot of different mixed feelings , and different things happening back to back. I REALLY recommend it.

I am only giving this book 2 stars because I forced myself to finish it.....to see if there were any redeeming qualities. There were NONE.

This is a sequel but really a stand alone as it is more about the hustle(r) his new sidekick, new business, new father in law, new sister in low.....oh god. And also God, as a scheme and a redeemer. The hustler husband vows to change his ways after his baby is born but then does the exact same thing later and vows again to stop. He claims he loves his wife but counsels his mentor that 'money before women' should be his credo. He fights charge after charge that were fabricated to get him in court, but admits to his wife that he will never confess to anything he did do (BUT he would do the time for it....)

The wife on the other hand is still playing ghetto chick. She acts questionably as a lawyer and a citizen, not caring that such things would get her disbarred.

As for the outlook on black life this book gives: if you are repeated given chances to change for the better, why don't you?! There is no reason this very wealthy family family needs to keep getting in situations that compromise their lives and supposed better motives than their 'less smart' associates.

But 50 Cent endorsed it. So there's that.

This was an excellent read. It starts right where the first book left off and you guys know I don't like spoilers but Yarnise was a relatable character for all women who k ow what it's like to ride or die until the end. she was smart confident and never gave up. I think the hidden mea ing I. these books is she's the real hustler and the brains behind everything. Nothing like a queen on the chess board. This book was definitely a checkmate reading the third installment now.

I loved this book as well as the one that came before it and after. It was well written, the story flowed, and the characters are too much, lol! Great read, even after being read a dozen times all ready! It never gets old.

I read Forever a Hustler's Wife around X-mas time. I read it in two days, but I wasn't impressed with FAHW compared to Hustler's Wife. I think because everything was new in Hustlers Wife is what made it exciting. Don't get me wrong now FAHW will having you hanging on the edge of your seats, but only in certain situations. It has a slow start to me and didnt' really start getting intersting until the middle of the book. Out of Five Stars I give FAHW 3 1/2. Another note is you have to read Glamourous Life first before you even try to read FAHW because there a certain characters in this book that you won't know about unless you read Glamourous Life.

I likeed this sequel to A Hustler's Wife by Nikki Turner. I'd be lying if I said it was as fast paced as the first but it didn't bore me and I was interested. I loved the twist with Desi and Khadijah towards the end- I never saw that coming at all, even with the few sporadic clues thrown in that something was up with her. I really got into the characters of Des and Yarni from the very beginning so I'm sure that's why I sailed through the sequel so fast. The book was obviously left open for a third and I'd give it a try.

I am giving this book 4.5 stars, it was a page turner from beginning to end. I must say that Yarni loved her husband Des and would do anything to show her support and love. It was fully of drama, but I loved how Yarni being a professional lawyer stood her ground as a sista married to a big time King Pin she knew when to be professional and when to keep it real. I really enjoy Nikki's writing style even though she had a lot of characters she made it flow and easy to read. I am looking for something else of hers to read now. It really was a good book.

This book is entertaining at its worst. Des character is not to bright to keep running around being the hit man and still have to hustle the streets for money. And Yarni is not much of a good Attorney when she continues to surround herself with the street mentality. Like I said this book is entertaining listening to how everyone's life is jacked. There is no one person within this book who had a positive purpose in life that would help someone turn there life around. The first book was more realistic.

I love Nikki Turner books, your storyline is always about some gansta romance drama, and I like the style she uses. Des, is a typical gansta, wanting the same thing most ganstas want. Money respect etc. He is the ideal example of how a man tries to get out of the hood and is faced with battles that pulled right back.

This book is part two of 'A Hustlers Wife'. So far I am enjoying it a lot. Its a continuing story of a unlikely couple, and the drama they continue to face. Drama brought upon by unloyal workers, sheisty business partners, and bitter people. This couple is fighting to keep their relationship strong and together through it all. I'm hoping they can pull through.

Second installment of the Hustler series. Yarni and Des face more challenges of the street life, but make adjustments to become legit. Yarni is now an attorney and Des starts a church (wow). With so much death and destruction around them, they both tire of the game and make changes to live right. But you can't do dirt and not expect your past to catch up with you...
