Maximilian and his friends are living a double life, while secretly spreading the outlawed religion of Jesus of Nazareth. As their brethren fall victim to torture and murder, their situation becomes more and more dire until they take a daring step that sends shockwaves throughout the whole Roman Empire.
One of my favourite books, combined theology, history and philosophy all in one. This book kept me up late at night (3-4am) despite my early wake ups. It was worth sacrificing sleep. Each page left me awe inspired thinking about when I’m going to read the next page. Would highly recommend. God bless.
"Time is the submission of man to God." - "We still have to choose. Choosing is a part of attaining perfection." - "Simply sensing the state of being created erases all other matters." - "The awakened have died. The awakened have died."
This book was so intriguing and well written. I finished it in one sitting, I truly could not put it down. It is a religious book but it touched me in a way I never could have imagined. It started quite slow but when it picked up it became one of my new favorite books of all time! 4.5/5
