I'm gonna have to give this a 3 star rating because while I did enjoy it for the most part, I did find it lacking in some ways.
The first issue is that this book definitely needs some editing done. Throughout this book there are grammatical errors, like the sentences don't make sense because the wrong words are used or doubled up.
Secondly, I felt like we missed so much connection had between Sunshine and Pack Kahele because they were already friends for several years (sight unseen) before the start of this book. If there was at least a little flashback or prelude to how she met them, more than just a one sentence explanation, I think it would have been better. Also, I wished that Sunshine had more interaction with her Alphas. Like, of course she was with Julian a lot because they were very good friends beforehand so they hung out regularly... but in this entire 400 page book she only hung out privately and separately with her Alphas under a handful of times. I wish there was more built up connection in that regard. Additionally, it was really weird to see the interaction between Sunshine as the beta and her pack because she constantly was saying "they make her feel like an omega" which was a bit off-putting in my opinion because it sounds like she's not only wishing she was but also subtly trying to compare herself to Julian. I also found the heat very weird, like it was super focused on Sunshine and her care and pleasure when it should've been focused on Julian as the omega. Like everything that was remotely omega-esque was very Sunshine focused which gave off weird vibes.
As a side note too, I hated how her name was constantly used. Because her name is also a stereotypical endearment, it made using her name a bit hard without any other endearments. In conversations with the pack they called her Sunshine frequently, and by that point it felt impersonal. It's like if her name was Susan and they constantly just called her Susan instead of any other sweet nickname. Like yeah, Julian called her baby but that was before they started dating so it had a friend vibe to it, then Logan called her darling once or twice, and Luca called her kitten a handful of times... but that was it, they mainly just called her Sunshine, which was unsettling.
Also, this story was very low drama. The most tumultuous thing that happens are petty squabbles, and I think that's crazy for a book as long as this one.
Over all, it was an alright read and I enjoyed it for the most part.
