Dark Creed

Rate this book
Family isn’t supposed to abandon you when times get tough, but that’s exactly what my stepbrother did.

It’s been ten years since I’ve seen Creed. He left after his mom died, and he never looked back. He claimed if I ever needed him, he’d be there.

After my dad comes home in a drunken rage and nearly kills me, I’ve finally had enough. I call him, not expecting much, but hoping he’d remember. Hoping he missed me. Hoping he’d help me.

And he does. He invites me to stay with him, and I accept. I have no one else.

But he’s changed. He’s harder, crueler, different from the boy I remember, and he starts to look at me in a way a stepbrother shouldn’t. Possessive. Like he owns me, my soul, and everything I am.

It’s wrong. I grew up idolizing him, and now… now it’s nearly impossible to pretend he’s the same boy, even harder to picture him as my stepbrother. I can’t help but start to fall.

Some lines were made to be crossed.

Listen I like some dark romances filled with smut and can handle some taboo, but this is not good. I was nabbed by a bookstagram reel and checked the goodreads rating without looking at reviews to be spoiler free (my mistake). However, either I am insane or the people who wrote the 4+ stars are. This reads like a bad 2005 wattpad alpha "romance". It relies heavily on flashbacks, the dual prospective is repetitive instead of engaging, and the characters are seriously lacking.

Taylor is running away from her abusive father whom she lives with while she is taking college courses and reunited with her stepbrother after 10 years (The age gap is also 10 years) and they instantly fall in love through jealousy. However, Creed the stepbrother is insanely controlling and reads abusive to literally everyone else and yet is also very vanilla since his character isn't fully fleshed out (more the author saying he works for a group who does bad things and then that's all we have to emotionally connect to as the reader). I've read some dark romances with plenty of murder and such, but at least those characters were interesting.

The scene with the mean girl ex Haliee is awful. It is sexual assault. (Spoiler Alert and Trigger Warning to skip this paragraph)................................ Haliee is the mean girl ex who is poorly written. She is a sex worker whom Creed would pay for sessions, but this session is under false pretenses. He ties her to a chair to teach her a lesson for being mean to Taylor and not leaving him alone. So to punish her he ties her to a chair to watch him and Taylor, and then he forces her to "clean up Taylor". He asks her if she thinks she is stronger or faster than him, and tells her she will stay there until Taylor is done. Additionally, Creed thinks beforehand how Hailee can't get involved with the cops due to her line of work and how his line of work helps him hide away bodies. No thank you Creed and Taylor. Being a sex worker does not mean this is okay. If this was written differently with Haliee's consent then I could have considered a 2-3 star for the potential of a story. This book drastically needed beta readers and a lot more editing. Moreover, with this scene in particular there needs to be trigger warnings and an understanding that this couple is toxic.

The over all feel of this book is immature. If it wasn't for the smut these character's internal dialouge sound like teenagers who are acting as adults. I am incredibly disappointed and icked out. I recommend checking out Sara Cate's
Salacious Player's series or Katee Robert's A Touch of Taboo series if you haven't yet instead of reading this.

Dark Creed

Another deliciously dark book by the queen of dark romance herself. As usual I really enjoyed reading it and was honestly intrigued by this world.

Hot and Spicy Darkness

At 19 yrs old Taylor Hall did not expect to be living this harsh of a life. She is forced to take care of her aabusive alcoholic father and his house while trying to go to college to escape. She thought she could handle it until one night her dad did the unthinkable. After escaping she had no where to go so she called her step brother Creed that she hasn't seen in 10 yrs for help. Creed thinking he could redeem himself for abandoning Taylor to succeed his mother in their chosen line of work immediately agreed to help his "little sister" in her time of need. Little did he know that family vibes is not what either of them felt once they saw each other and now they are both struggling with these feelings of want and need!

When I say this book grabbed ahold of me and wouldn't let go, I can't tell you how much I mean that! I usually am guilty of not writing a review until I have read the book twice, but here I am letting you know to READ THIS BOOK! The "lessons" OMG read the "lessons" I promise you will not be disappointed! It was heart felt, steamy, with a touch of darkness, but all around one of the most amazing books I have read this year! I wish there were more than 5 stars to give! I give it 1,000 stars! I wish there was more Taylor and Creed! I wish there was more Guild because I am addicted!!!
Well done CM Wondrak!!! Well done!

It’s not bad BUT I absolutely hate when writers add in the “she’s not like other girls” trope and this author writes statements that kinda shame women for wearing makeup multiple times. I hate that shit. Hate hate hate. No need to shame women to build up a character.

It's amazing!

I have read many of CM's books and devoured them all. I definitely would love to see more M/F books from her. Although its not her usual type of book this had many of the type of scenes I love to read in her books. Each of the people in this book had a deep sadness to them, each we're not people that conformed to society rules and each had felt a separation from most others in life. Even those they had things in common with but never really felt a connection. This is a lighter taboo relationship because its between a sister and her step brother. He's not what one would say a great guy yet he's not without morals although fucked up one's lol. It's a lighter read than I'm use to with this author but I loved it. The character build up is there, the history between the two is detailed and there's a lot of the sizzling, panties on fire sex scenes that CM is known for. I read this in a day and I really liked the fact it was a standalone. Anymore would have been too much but the length was enough not to cut important details out. I just devour her books and hope there will be more M/F books and maybe a series next? If you haven't read her books this is a great book to read and if you have then you already know how much you'll enjoy this!

MY OPINION ONLY

For the most part it was ok. I didn't care to much for the characters. Honestly Creed didn't seem to bad@ss to me just a Bully. And honestly I didn't care for her either. She had no backbone and they way she always just melted right away for Creed was unrealistic. She wasn't much of a friend to Beth either. And Creed keeping Tom a secret from her when she told him to leave him alone and also still haven't told her what he really did. Makes him a liar to me. I didnt see it as love sorry only obsession. Controlling. And not in the good way in my eyes. He never let her get her way and used sexuality to shut up basically. It had no drama no action I thought it to be a bit boring. It had potential tho just didn't finish out with a bang in my opinion. Don't let my opinion persuade you tho. It was only mine. I like my books a bit more dark. This wasn't dark at all. This was a vanilla book and that's OK. This story is mostly about sex. And her at school. Like I said mostly boring. But read it you may love it. I gave it 4 stars because you may just love it. Most people do. And I dont want to swade you away from it.

**I didn’t see any trigger warnings but I may of missed them. If there isn’t any, there is a whole scene with S/A. **

This had SO much potential. I hated the dual prospective, it was the exact same thing I just read in the previous chapter… super annoying and felt like bad filler. The abuse scenes felt like it was being written by a 15 y/o. I was always waiting for Taylor’s dad to come and beat the shit out of her or run her over. It really needed to be more “bad” to give Creed the chance to have a big knight in shining armor moment. It just lacked enough bad to warrant the (epilogue) punishment. For the Haliee scene… that was S/A. I’ve read some dark romances but that was just… ick. If they had consent, it could of been such a good scene.

Anyways, 2 out of 5 because I did finish the book. I just wish the author had given us more character development so we could give a shit about the MCs and maybe some trigger warnings.

I speed read this book like my life depended on it. There was little to no plot, so it was mainly smut, but I ate it up. The spicy scenes were the perfect length and had you wanting more. Which, luckily, you got more and more. Even though I enjoyed reading this I did give it a 3 star review. Since there wasn't really a plot other than the dad being a dick, I didn't feel compelled to keep reading. I really was just there for the smut. I also went into this book very blind and was put off a bit by the two main characters being ex-step siblings. While sure they hadn't seen each other for 10 years, they still grew up as being brother and sister. However, their relationship was intimate and beautifully written. I am a sucker for a possessive man.

LOVE!

I will be the first to admit love this author so much. She doesn't usually write just m/f. It's normally an. But let me tell you, she stole my heart with this book. Creed hadn't seen Taylor in 10 years but dropped everything without hesitation to help her. The feelings they both have for one another have definitely changed. Creed is THE perfect book boyfriend that only a woman can write. Do yourself a favor and read this book.

This was hot 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥

I love Taylor's growth through this story and I feel in love with Creed myself. The step sibling thing didn't matter really since they weren't really raised together as brother and sister. This was an enjoyable read but I was left with questions about other characters in this story
I recommend reading this if you want a short one (for me it was) to pass the time. You might need a cold shower later though

Good read!

After reading Desecration of Innocence this author became an instant buy for me. When I saw this book drop I read it that night, and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m a fan of both main characters and how their relationship evolved! Love over the top jealous men and women who handle them!

Bad Guy Goodness!!

This was such a fun read! Not as dark as some of her works, but Creed is definitely all dark deliciousness. Taylor is not a one of those action packed kick butt characters, but I loved how she stays true to herself and that her relationship with Creed fills those lonely parts creating something beautiful.

Another amazing book by one of my fav authors! This one is really a divergence from her usual more intense style, but it still has a bit of mystery and edge. Really though it is a lovely semi-taboo story with so much heart and a stone cold fox hero with just the right amount of obsession!

Just didn’t like it…

I didn’t like the main female character Taylor. She was just a bit too helpless to me. I also felt the main male character was over the top. Particularly the scene with Hailee…it just went too far. If Creed actually felt so intensely about Taylor, I don’t think he would’ve had Hailee do what she did.

This book was okay. I didn't find a connection with the couple, and the FMC was just too helpless and closed off. No true emotional connection was felt. I also thought the male characters' back story wasn't enough. Towards the end, it felt rushed.
But it was an okay read that you could read on vacation and enjoy.

Honestly, bored.

There was no real attraction in this couple. No chemistry at all, just two people on a page. I skimmed a bunch of still was barely trudging along. This one wasn’t for me.

Creed and Taylor

This is a fantastic story 👏, I normally don't like a man really waiting 10 years to go get his girl. It is so boring, no drama. But CM Wondrak made this book so good. I enjoyed every moment of Creed and Taylor story

Steamy stepbrother romance

I enjoyed this dark and taboo romance. Add in the age-gap with some f0rcêd voyeurism and yes this book got steamy. Creed (MMC/stepbrother) is a hired unaliver and Taylor (FMC) is the sweet college student needing a place to stay.

Devoured!

This book was very well written. I enjoyed the story line very much. Details are the chefs kiss. Did not drag out anything. Details, but to the point. Thank you for your creativity. Now on to another one of your books!

Dark grey

This romance is more grey than black and a bit tamer than other Candice\CM Wondak books . I enjoyed the hot sizzle along with both points of view and introduction to the Guild . At least I hope its an introduction with other guild books to follow.

This is probably one of my favorite step-siblings trope romances, because it also adds the darkness of the criminal world. The plot is your standard forbidden romance stories, with some added trauma and mystery. If you're looking for a good smut read, this is easily digestible for first-timers in the world of step-sibling romance.

Another steamy dark read from CM Wondrak! She nailed the step-sibling dynamic and how they turned into something more for each. Creed was possessive and hot - a dangerous combo 🥵 loved it!
