This is the worst book ever. I was reading it and I actually wasn’t sure if I was reading satire or not. It isn’t helpful or insightful, or intelligent, it’s just dumb.

As one can probably gather from the cover design, the tone of this book is, um, interesting.

Still, it gives a good explanation of why the belly lift helps with back labor. A quick read.

Introduction
This book is all about the belly lift. King writes and illustrates this book in a way that even an elementary age child can understand it. The author gives great instructions on how to alleviate back pain during labor. The book has child like illustrations that perfectly show how back labor can occur and the simple belly lift method that a woman can do by herself to alleviate the pain and put the baby in the proper positioning for birth.

Purpose
The Author wants every woman to know how to alleviate back pain and shorten the length of their labors. Back Labor No More gives suggestions for women of all body types—those with long torsos, those with short torsos, those with a titled pelvis, etc..to use to help position the baby in the optimal position for vaginal delivery which in turn decreases the length of time one is in labor.

Impressions
I find this book to be very helpful and easy to read. Reading this book has helped give me a quick easy way to explain to a client how to perform the belly lift and when to apply it for a client. I will put this one in my doula bag for sure.

Interesting and logical. My first was born after days of excruciating back labor, so I will definitely be tucking this information under my belt in case it rears its ugly head this time!

I feel like this method really helped shorten my labor. My first labor was 21 hours. After reading this book (a short read by the way), my labor was 9 hours from start to finish.
