Rate this book
What's Left Us  is a stunning fiction debut by one of the most promising new writers in Canada. The novella and stories in these pages startle and engage the reader with their humour, warmth and grace. The novella traces one week in the life of a young, unmarried Irish woman about to give birth. The heroine is a hip, independent woman who muses on memory, love, loss and inheritance in a clever, wry and moving way. The other stories are set in Dublin, the U.K., Vancouver and Ontario and continue Hunter's funny and insightful exploration of quirky characters and situations.  What's Left Us  offers us exacting and exciting words by a prodigiously talented young writer.

Kirjan alkuperäinen nimi What's left us tarkoittaa ennemmin "mikä meidät on jättänyt" tms.

The stories mostly take place in either Ireland or Canada, where the author is from. Poetic writing and well-drawn characters. I particularly liked the novella at the end.

i really loved a number of moments in this sweet book of short stories. there were some stories and characters i connected to more than others, but most of all i connected to the quiet tone of this book. i think it may be partly that irish author thing, the tone i recognized and loved in this book is similar to that of a Roddy Doyle book. i have started looking into what other books by this author i can read.

The short stories are okay....some better than others, but I really enjoyed the novella.
