The book is a fictionalized account of the Christmas Story. The Bible recounts the accurate factual story of Jesus's birth. In "His Name Shall be Called", the author explores the possible experiences of the people involved; Mary, Joseph, Elizabeth, the shepherds, the Wise Men and others, and imagines what their real-life experiences might have been like. While Mary was visited by an angel, she was human with all of the emotions and frailties that entails. She also still lived amongst the people of her village in a time when pregnancy outside of marriage usually resulted in death by stoning. What would that have been like? What would it have been like to give birth in a stable? To have Shepherds come to find the baby? This is an opportunity to consider the impact the events of those days would have had on the people God chose to bear witness to the birth of His Son.
