It’s not the fall that hurts. It’s the sudden stop.

I shouldn’t be attending funerals for those I love, and I shouldn’t be wondering if I’m next.

This new world is crueler than the last. With my horsemen slowly slipping away, I’m left with a numbness I’m not sure how to navigate.

Those I’m warned to keep my distance from keep dragging me closer as I struggle to breathe in this nightmare I’m living.

The show must go on though, and we must power through the pain.

The only thing I know is that we’re strong.

We’re on the edge of forever. Something tells me I’m not going to like if we fall.

But deep down I know it’s not a matter of if.

It’s when.

This is book three in Mayfair University, the story of Rosalie and the horsemen. Contains dark content. Visit author’s site for more information. This is a one female, four male romance. This is a placeholder date.

Leave your expectations and sanity at the door - you won’t be needing them here.

I really don’t think I can describe how excited I was to finally get my hands on this book. After months of reading, re-reading, highlighting and theorizing the previous books, some long-anticipated answers were at hand, including the answer to the biggest question - will this be what I hope??

The answer, unsurprisingly, was yes. It was everything I hoped and more.

On The Edge is perfectly named - Rosie and her men feel like they spend the whole book teetering precariously, trying desperately to stay balanced and avoid plunging to unknown depths. There’s so many pieces in play now that each character is like a plate spinner or a juggler trying to keep anything from falling. By the end of the books, some plates have stabilized a little, and others are perilously close to falling.

This book is truly a part of KG’s Chaosverse - we see characters from other series and stand alone books making appearances. It’s a wild, heart rending ride that sets the scene for the final two (YES, two!) books. Hold onto your hearts and anything else you want to keep intact.

What?

I wasn’t sure if I was going to pick up this book or not. I really didn’t like the second in this series. I found it so repetitive and predictable. And sadly, this book wasn’t much better. I think 3 books into the series, we get it. Rosalie is miserable and struggling with the guys. And the guys won’t let her go and resolve everything with sex. But there’s need to be more. I think things get lost because this isn’t just tied to the Kings of Bolten anymore but now is being tied to Chapel Crest. And as a result, the book has all these random things added that just don’t feel necessary to the plot. Like finding out Fox’s first name isn’t Fox.

It’s frustrating to me as a reader because this series has the potential. But this book feels like it’s a duplicate of As We Fight with only a few extra things added. Nothing really changed or progressed with the plot.

I'll start with the positive....The scenes with Fox, Anson, and Rosalie at Christmas were great. It reminded me of some of the more carefree moments found in the Black Falls High series. I liked that Fox developed an understanding with Anson and realized that Rosalie needed his friendship/love just as much as she needed her horsemen. The last 50% of the book flowed at a much better pace with less repetitiveness and more fresh scenes/dialogue. I felt like the story wasn't just standing still, but actually progressing after the 50% mark. It reminded me why I really love this author's work because she is able to bring out emotions in these characters that make you hurt for them.

Now for the issues I had...
I went in knowing there was dubcon, non-con in this book, but I will say that I completely lost respect for Enzo. It started in the last book, but after one specific incident in this book I just couldn't look at him the same (I didn't remove stars because of this since I was aware of the trigger warnings before reading and chose to read it anyway). Honestly Rosalie seems to become more and more of a doormat for all of them as the series continues. She just lets them get away with it because they apologize or shed a few tears. He seriously hurt her enough that it affected her ability to sing and she just brushed it off.

And just like in the last book I felt like I just kept reading the same thing over and over again with not much actual progress in the story (it wasn't until 50% in that it felt like the story actually progressed). We have the guys constantly talking about wanting the best for their girl, worrying about how unhappy she is with the whole situation.

We have Enzo hating who is becoming, having the power to say F traditions I'm going to go live life and be happy, yet deciding that family obligation is more important than helping the group he supposedly loves to find true happiness again.

We have Cole constantly reminding everyone he wants her to have his baby. We have Ethan creating dangerous drugs, while knowing they could end up in the wrong hands. We have Fox agreeing to something and then being hurt/sad over the choice he made (and everyone constantly mentioning how messed up he is about that choice).

We have Rosalie having feelings for someone else who actually puts her happiness above anything else, but choosing to ignore those feelings to stay in a relationship where she felt pressured into making choices she did not want and trapped in a life where she is controlled and treated like a child who is incapable of thinking for herself/making choices about her own life. Not to mention being physically and mentally hurt by someone who claims to love her so much simply because she was being honest about wanting to run away from the life she was trapped in (and then just pretending it is ok because he was drunk and didn't mean to do it).

Honestly Anson was the only likable male character in most of this book. He made a huge sacrifice in order to protect Rosalie and she wasn't even his girl. He put her happiness and well-being before his own wants. He was the only one who even noticed that Enzo had seriously hurt her.

Knowing this series was supposed to originally be a duet and is now going to be stretched into a 5 book series, it honestly doesn't surprise me that it feels a bit drug out with repetitiveness. I loved the original Black Falls High series so much, so it is hard leaving less than 5 stars on the Mayfair series, but it just doesn't have the same flow/pace as the original series.

I need to see character growth, story progression, and need to feel like I'm reading fresh dialogue/thoughts/scenes throughout the entire series. So far Mayfair has been the guys pissing off Rosalie, her being unhappy in the way her life is at the moment, the guys doing very little to actually improve the way they treat her, hoping into her bed to prove they love her, bossing her around, the guys unhappy about the things they have to do for Enzo's family, and Anson being the one constant good thing in her life... and repeat over and over.

Yes authors are free to tell the story in whatever way they feel is best. They don't always see the overly repetitive dialogue/thoughts/scenes as repetitive or see how they take away from the story instead of adding to it for some readers. It leaves some readers feeling like they had to walk through quicksand to get to something new/fresh in the story.

Not all readers notice the repetitiveness or how it causes series to feel more drawn out than necessary because they love the characters so much and aren't ready to move on. It is a personal preference thing, but happens to be one of the things that most negatively affects my reading experience and that is why I did have to take off a star. It's not a bad series, but I do feel the repeativeness could have been eliminated and this series would have been a solid 5 star duet or trilogy (depending on how book 4 and 5 go).

I will still continue reading because I am hooked on these characters, but it is getting harder picturing a future with all of them together after the way they have treated Rosalie (right now I wish Anson would run away with her so at least she isn't being treated like a doormat or toddler all the time).

I will also say the whole storyline with Everett/Alice and the fact they literally eat people was a bit much. And the plot twists seem to be getting more outrageous with Fox's dad and his confession. It just felt like these things didn't fit with the rest of the story because they were so out there compared to the rest of the series. I'm not even sure what to expect in book 4.

3.5 stars. I’m a bit conflicted: the writing is good, the main characters continue to interest me, stuff (usually bad) happens, the mafia/underworld ties deepen, and a few lingering questions were answered or info revealed. And yet, this one (like the previous) dragged a bit, such that it often felt like little progressed. This book continued the dreaded buildup to an upcoming precipice and I just hope that in the final two books of the series, things don’t fall apart too disastrously! I want only good outcomes for Rosalie and her four horsemen.

I love these characters

I have adored the Horsemen and have been super committed to their story and experiencing their happily ever after with Rosalie. I adored their growing bonds and shifting feeling and internal conflicts.

My misgivings about On The Edge are that it felt repetitive and lacked clear direction.

With so many of K.G Ruess books occurring in the same world and at different points in the timeline, I felt very conflicted at the approach of certain plot reveals. To me they felt that they were placed their for shock value rather than need in the overall story.

With the added information that this series will now be 5 books long, I hope that more editing and story plotting occurs for the rest of this series.

Talk about a SUPER emotionally charged, angsty ridden, suspense building, mystery expanding, evolving hidden secrets, mind bending plot twists and turn and drama packed story.
On The Edge was heart racing, soul crushing, gut wrenching, yet mind blowing, flabbergasting-ly incredible from everything that Rosie and Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo aka The Horsemen had you endure all throughout.
Never allowing for a moment of reprieve in this wild, hectic and chaotic rollercoaster whirlwind that made K.G. Reuss keep you hanging On The Edge.
And yet it was all worthwhile!

Firstly it needs to be said that if there was ever an author who always has me wholeheartedly feeling everything down to the very core upon reading any and all of their books, then it’s K.G. Reuss!
On The Edge was the latest one, whether it was feeling joyful, adoration, love and happiness, or seeing heartbreak and feeling pain and sadness, whilst also experiencing extreme frustration, annoyance and anger.
You name it, K.G. ensured it was felt way deep down inside to the point of where it seemed like you were there right alongside Rosie, Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo in their POV chapters encountering all that they did too. Alongside the emotions and sentiments too.

The character development was on point yet again, adding an even more in-depth look into Rosie, Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo. Allowing you to truly get lost in each of their POVs, their inner monologue expressing all that was needed to be known, said and informed of right down to the littlest detail.
Particularly when it came to the progression from each of the characters, the unravelling of even more deeper and extensive layers in seeing what made them who they are. On top of seeing how that played into the growth, that some of them experienced and went through.
Especially in the many new situations and events they were faced with, hurtling them through major twists and turns from the shocking surprises that awaited them in what was quite possibly a wild rollercoaster ride narrative.

Despite Rosie, Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo having their own individual paths they had to navigate through alone at times, considering all that they were dealing with from all that was going on.
It didn’t stop or change the fact that there was an existing link between them that always seemed to found a way to have their paths interconnect back to each other. Even without the connection they already shared within their relationship.

Did the story leave you On The Edge? Why yes it did. Then again it wouldn’t be a K.G. Reuss book if it didn’t.
Although it was a little on the tamer side when it came to the cliffhanger that was delivered in comparison to the previous ones from the series. On The Edge still left you reeling, especially knowing now there will be two more books still yet to come, meaning more torture.
Yet there's no doubt in my mind K.G. Reuss will definitely make it worthwhile.
Can’t wait to see where Rosie, Fox, Ethan, Cole and Enzo’s story will take us in Mayfair University series next book Into The Fire.

Holy crap! This book was sooo much of everything! Prepare yourself to have your mind blown by all the secrets that come to light, the information dumps, and all the breadcrumbs leading to more chaos. I swear my jaw dropped so many times, my anxiety was through the roof, and I may or may not have gotten a little emotional whiplash.

In this book, we continue to see Rosalie and the horsemen struggle to find a balance between their lifestyles, their dreams, and their relationship. At the end of the day, they all want each other to be happy but most importantly to be safe. The problem lies in the methods they all take to ensure that safety, and unfortunately, happiness and freedom tend to be the sacrifices for that safety. Doesn’t help that Rosalie keeps spending so much time with a certain character that I don’t like. Wasn’t pleased with any of that in this book and have a bad feeling about where things are headed with that.

There are so many different things going on in this book, both bad and good. I still cannot believe the plot twists and certain character connections we find out in this. A lot came out! Through all the craziness and struggles, there’s still plenty of hilarious moments that will make you smile and chuckle. Tons of spicy times as well. The cliffhanger wasn’t too bad this time, but I’m definitely going to be sitting and thinking about everything we learned while waiting for the next book! KG really knows how to spin an amazing web of interconnected chaos that will have you completely invested in all of it!

This series has had me in a choke hold from book 1, page 1. The horseman are my guys, but in this book I’m side eyeing Fox. Questioning every move Enzo makes and worried about Ethan!!! And Cole, well Cole is perfect he doesn’t ever do anything wrong 😊 I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t hate Anson Bare Dick in this book either!!!! I feel it tho…it’s breathing down the back of my neck, it is the beginning of a downward spiral straight to hell for them!! I can feel the heart break MY heartbreak for the aftermath I have envisioned. I’m just waiting for the next twist, she has it all set up for us now with the end of this book. The bread crumbs are really crumbing in this one, “open your eyes. Follow the crumbs” Secrets? Marriage? A baby? Death? Betrayal? What is the Missing Piece?? 👀

Wow. Rosie and her horseman are headed down a path that I’m afraid won’t leave them intact. This book has all the feelings. It leaves you feeling scared, angry, frustrated, and worried for these characters who you’ve grown to love won’t make it out of this world unscathed. I can’t wait to see where the next books takes us.

In true K.G. fashion, we are left reeling, shocked, angered, saddened, and everything in between when it comes to Rosalie and her horsemen. These characters can never seem to catch a break, and all the struggles they constantly face just rips at your heart. The secrets that become exposed and the chaos that continues to ensue leaves you anxious and on the edge of your seat wondering if they are ever going to be safe and if they will ever truly find happiness again because they just keep going through the ringer!

There are so many bit and pieces of the unfinished puzzle that are revealed with the breadcrumbs that K.G. just keeps sprinkling for us. The ominous revelations have me scared for what’s to come, but I know all I can do is trust the process. Their world is on the brink of imploding to epic proportions and leaves you wondering if they will all make it out alive. So dive in, buckle up, and enjoy the ride of the emotionally, psychologically, and mindfuckery experience to be had with this book because in the end 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩.

This series has been a wild ride. It sucks you in, and just when you think you know what's going on, something comes out of the blue, and you realize you didn't know a thing. Seeing these characters unravel knowing where it's heading is heartbreaking, but necessary to get where they need to be in the end. Cannot wait for more of this world.

Also, the cross-over between Bolton, Chapel Crest, Mayfair, Rayton, etc. makes these series even better! Make sure to read them as well for the full experience. They are on the darker side, so read the TW!

Some of the worst things: leelee is not a fucking nickname. Foxy, the worst nickname there is. Fox is a
Cool name, leave it fox. Ani, blech.

The sex scenes are so fast and not descriptive. The plot is wild and darker now, don’t know where the fuck it’s going. I’ll keep reading.

This book (and really everything KG writes) is always on the tippity top of my list to read as soon as it hits my kindle. I've wanted this book for months, theorized until I was (more) grey and drove myself crazy trying to figure out how certain things would come to play, which honestly is pointless because SO much is happening at once. We see so many crossover characters in KG's books, and this is no exception -- a few that will make you lose your mind in anger, and some that will question all your original theories. The breadcrumbs are plentiful, and I'll be holding my breath until the fourth book is in my needy hands!

All while I was reading, I had one main thought; how aptly named this book is. Rosie, her men, and Ani are all on a precarious edge just balancing all the dangerous aspects of their lives and trying to keep everyone safe, as well as trying so hard to stay in the bubble thay they've been in previously, where if they just love hard enough, everything will turn out OK and everyone will be happy in the end. But the undercurrent of anxiety in all of these characters is like a live wire, and one wrong move is going to tumble it all down.

I said in my review for the last book that it felt like Fox was purposely distancing himself from his girl and his friends and this mafia style life, but his character growth really surprised and impressed me. Honestly I feel line him and Anson are the only two that truly have the means to protect Rosie as well as actually listen to all of her wants and needs. I just love them so much.

My heart absolutely broke for Cole. He wants so much to have another baby with Rosie, and trying to keep her safe in his arms at all times whiling trying not to stifle her career and happiness is hurting them both. I think my heart is going to be shattered by him the most.

Ethan-- MAAAN. KG was not playing around with all that has happened in regards to him. He really shined in this book, and we saw a side to him we haven't seen before, that I hope we see more of. His friendship with Cole is honestly so perfect, and I know all of you will agree.

Enzo has been making me mad this entire series, and that ramps up during this book, but i also felt all his anguish and stress/anxiety like it was my own. He's making every chess move possible to keep his sunshine safe, but in doing that he's killing the spark he fell in love with so much. Is he selfish for keeping her? Is he selfish to keep taking and taking from her until what they once had is no more? And not only that, but he has his hands in so many pots at once, that it's overwhelming. This once steadfast and strong, immovable force is now crumbling in every direction, and even though you want to blame him for it, you just can't. There's a reason why he's the best anti hero.

As for Anson -- look, I've always loved him. I will continue to love him no matter what happens, and I dare you to read this book and not fall for him. The things he does for his LeeLee, how he literally destroys part of himself to make sure she's never harmed left my chest physically *aching.* I'm an Anson Stan for life, and yall can stop denying how amazing he is now.

I highlighted SO much of this book to scream on the discord once this is released. The last 20% was pure craziness and we've barley even scratched the surface. I cannot wait for more!

I am so happy I discovered this author!! I am just at loss for words and can't wait for you all to dive into this madness!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions **

**PSA** I know we're all excited for more of KG words, since her books are seriously my addiction, but don't be that reader that's rude and is demanding her to put out books at certain times. She's human and she has a life outside of her career. If you think messaging her something nasty is going to make her release a book faster, think again. It costs literally nothing to be kind.

K.G Reuss is an unreliable author. This isn’t meant to be hateful but a warning to new readers.

Know that she constantly misses deadlines and books will not come out when she says they will. Also, every series interconnected and you’ll have to buy her entire catalog to enjoy the full story to any characters. One or two book planned series becomes three or more sometimes. So if you think it’ll be something, it’ll probably be something else.

She always finds some excuse, but every book she releases gets pushed off months at a time, and more than once.
This is clearly her poor planning.

She doesn’t plan her works out, she writes what she feels in the moment. That is fine so long as you don’t tell your readers it will be one thing, then change it after they’ve expected that original plan. It is manipulation to mislead readers after you know they’re buying your work because they want that original plan. Now are you going to blame them and say that they should just expect authors won’t follow through with original plans and to only spend money on series that are finished..? That is scummy.

The author works on many different stories all at once. She works on what she feels like doing, even if she has an unfinished book planned for upcoming release.

The author defends the predictable behavior when readers raise concerns. She says if she releases work any quicker it would be garbage.
So my response to this is…. then why do you put release dates at all? Why promise one thing then not deliver.
If every date is pushed off and you have terrible health that your time dedicated to writing is unstable, it makes more sense to leave it open as to not purposely mislead us every time.
We are not guilt tripping you when we reasonably wonder why there are posts at every release about how you have to push off dates. We would have understood if this was a rare occurrence but it happens all the time. So at least warn new readers that you often miss deadlines because of your health and they shouldn’t actually look forward to that date, and that a one or two book promised series becomes three or more because a lack of pre planning. Also what was seemingly an interconnected universe of two series, becomes three then four then five. Suddenly you have to purchase the author’s entire catalog if you want the complete story of the characters you liked. This will also take years to finish.
Do not deny this is purposely misleading to boost sales. You will respond to this saying “they don’t have to read all the books” but you know if they don’t, readers do not get the whole story. Also that you promised it would be one or two books only. Or that it would be released in a certain time frame. Some will say, don’t start book universes that aren’t finished. But it’s purposely misleading to lie to readers that it would be finished a certain way within a certain time, then go back on your word and prolong it in many ways.

Also, the author purposely misleads readers with the kind of content in her books. She will say, it has no cheating. But when readers reasonably raise concerns how the book had a guy kiss another girl, touch her, sleep with her, flirt with another etc, she says it isn’t cheating and to go find other stories. The author knows many people consider that cheating and purposely mislead people to get more reads because she knew people wouldn’t read it if they knew. Then she always says to just trust the process. As if that justifies not telling readers of the contents and hurting them.
She eventually did add a forewarning about how the men are not cookie cutter nice boyfriends, but still not adding that there could be what a reader considers emotional cheating, especially when she’s still advertising the books as having no cheating on Facebook.
If any new readers see this, decide if this is the kind of author for you. Don’t get your hopes up.

On The Edge
By K.G. Ruess

How did I feel when this book ended? Wrecked and ready for MORE! There are SO MANY questions left unanswered and have already planned a re-read to look for more Easter eggs KG likely dropped that I missed the first time I read this book. She’s known as the Queen of Cliffies, and this book is on par with this moniker.

Alright, so On The Edge (OTE) follows up from As We Fight (AWF) and it picks up right away. Rosalie (“Rosie”) and her guys (Enzo, Cole, Ethan, and Fox … + Anson???) are still navigating their way through their relationship as college students, managing classes, extracurricular activities, etc. The guys are still insanely jealous of the time Rosie spends with Anson. Enzo becomes more involved in the “family business” which creates worry and anxiety for her guys as her safety is paramount to them, yet they can’t walk away from what they agreed on – working for Enzo’s father – even though they know this is ultimately the only way to ensure her safety long-term. For this reason, Rosie is “permitted” to continue to be friends with (read: escorted around by/protected by) Anson. As expected, the more time Rosie spends with Anson, the more she questions her feelings for her friend – is it more?

We learned several key plot twists in AWF that continue in OTE – most notably the discovery of a change in a family tree that would create quite the stir in the Mayfair mafia world if publicized. Guess what? It happens again in OTE and after I picked my jaw up off the floor, I was living for it! It’s not who you think, and for me, came from LEFT FIELD! KG with the rollercoaster – hands up, time to hold on & scream!

In OTE, we see more of the Bolten and Chapel Crest crew crossing over. If you keep up with KG’s fan page on FB or her Discord channel, you knew this was coming. I was wondering how everything would intertwine stories and KG put it together quite nicely. Anson is more involved in the Chapel Crest story than I originally realized, and I found myself pleading with him to be careful with all of the folks he does business with because they are some crooked folks! I am looking forward to seeing how this progresses through Into The Fire (ITF, book 4).

Everett Church and Alice Landry are literally the devil incarnate. I am predicting Everett is going to end up being the cockroach that NEVER D!ES, despite all of the figurative sprays with poison, stomps, and traps set. Ugh!

Some quotes from the book (no spoilers, unless you speak Sylar’s “language” as these come from him) that had me reeling, and I know there’s more to them than what immediately meets the eye – this is what has me literally ON THE EDGE waiting for ITF to drop!:

“Foxes are tricky beasts. Cunning and sly, there’s more than what meets the eye. They hide in forests and mountaintops high. And before long, the hand which is held joins another. One man. One woman. And now. . . a new brother.”

He backed away. “Attend the party tonight. Make the move. Seal your fate. And when the fox comes out from the hole he’s hiding in, it will be your duty to spread those demon wings of yours and do what you do best.” “What's that?” I asked, my heart pounding hard. “Fight.”

We know in the upcoming books, there is going to be a significant death (funeral referenced in Jamie’s book, Double Dare You) that will break us, the question is: who will it be, and can we survive it?!

On The Edge is the third book in the Mayfair University series (spinoff of In Chaos Black Hills High dark romance). The book continues where we left off from book 2 with Rosalie, the horsemen, and Anson. We find out more about the De Santis lineage and get a different perspective on what the men went through years ago. Fox's world is tilted a bit when he finds out the truth about his DNA and the lies he was told by his mother (I hope that we get that scene when he confides in the guys about this in the next book). Rosalie is engaged and trying to stay upbeat about planning her nuptials. She's feeling trapped and rightfully so. The kings sneak into this book as their timeline lines up with the horsemen so much so that we're privy to the horsemen's point of views when Bianca goes missing. Read Dirty Little Secrets and you'll get even more information.

There's a lot of emotional repetition in this book and the guys don't really get any better with Rosalie. We get a whole lot of Anson and Rosalie where I feel like we're pushed closer to him joining in especially after a particular scene that I was screaming at the book that it wouldn't happen just to save Anson's life. There's assault within the group as well toward Rosalie that I was very upset and disappointed about. I just don't understand how anyone can love fiercely enough to assault them. That's very toxic and unhealthy which the character identified and apologized for. He was held accountable by the guys, but Rosalie didn't really give much of a reaction except for crying uncontrollably.

Book 3, I recommend, but note there is assault within the group.

First and foremost, I am a huge fan of K.G. Reuss. Not in the creepy, Misery way, but in the "one click" everything she writes way. This author can do no wrong in my eyes. Let me tell you, On The Edge, will have you on the literal edge.

This is book 3 in the Mayfair University series, which follows Rosalie and her Horsemen (from Black Falls High series) into college.

As usual, Ms. Reuss has once again sent the story into the complete opposite direction that I expected. We see the Chaos Universe crossing over and I am here for it.

When you embark on a long haul book journey, this is where the author shines. Now that Rosie and her Horsemen are in college, you'll see them starting to fall into their roles as adults and partners. You will see some characters growth and epic amounts of angst.

This book gave me the full range of emotions. I don't know who to trust, love, dislike, because everything is, On The Edge. I'm not a nail biter and managed to chew a nail off. Why?

Cole is suffocating Rosebud with his overprotective nature and his strong desire to have a baby with her, despite knowing that her career is important to her. Timing is everything, Cole. Enzo (I'm eye rolling so hard), all I can say is that he frustrates me to no end. He just keeps getting worse. Meanwhile, I felt Ethan really stood out in this book.

Meanwhile, Fox and Anson seemingly are the only ones that can truly protect Rosie moving forward. This is just my personal opinion, but I feel like these two are the only ones really listening to what Rosie wants. Yes, I like Anson, despite the connections within his family.

As a K.G. Reuss fan, I am in awe of her ability to produce such an intricately woven story that has plot, excellent characters and the spice. **Fans self**

Written in multiple 1st POV. Please read TW/CW before diving in. Highly recommend.

The chaos of Mayfair University with K.G. Reuss's third installment, On The Edge. This book ramps up the tension and intrigue as it dives deep into familial legacies and the tangled web of relationships that are at once intoxicating and infuriating. While the first half takes its time to set the stage, it’s after the 50% mark that the story catapults into a whirlwind of emotions, revelations, and unforgettable quotes.

Anson shines in this installment, and it's hard not to fall for his unwavering loyalty to Rosalie—no matter how misguided it may seem at times. His protective instincts, juxtaposed with Ethan's unexpected bursts of raw honesty, make for dramatic and often hilarious moments. Speaking of Ethan, his fierce yet fractured backbone leads to some unforgettable quips, including the audacious "You can f*** in three ways..." that put a goofy smirk on my face.

Fox grapples with genetic truths and his evolving identity, the layers peel back to reveal a character transformation that leaves you eager for more. And let's not forget Cole's eccentricity—who knew mashed potatoes and a holiday-themed "massacre" could make for such banter?

Rosalie, though adored by the men around her, often feels like she's caught in a cycle of submission to their darker tendencies. While she tries to embody a foundation for a strong female lead, her journey towards self-advocacy feels stunted amidst the chaos of her male counterparts’ overwhelming control. The repeating cycle of her interactions with Anson and the gang left me yearning for a bolder assertion of her character and rolling my eyes thinking "UGHH NOT THE CYCLE...... AGAIN"!

The arrival of Skylar, I knew there was a reason that I loved you so much.... I can't wait to see you all again soon

in an unexpected turn of events, this series has expanded to five books! Am I stressed? oh absolutely. will I read them all? fuck yes.

what I liked: I really enjoyed where this plot line is going. we were told it was necessary to extend this particular series, and it makes sense once you get into it.

i’ve missed this universe a lot. i forgot how emotionally invested I get with these books. the world building genuinely doesn’t feel as though it’s fictional, that is something that I really love. rosie is still my number one girl…now the guys…I really can’t even say much because men think they know everything, they might jump off the page and try to tell me otherwise🥴

the characters are really going through it and I truly love how realistic the consequences reflect the actions in such a real life way. that’s part of why kg’s books are so good, there’s no cookie cutter trauma that’s solved with a good ol naked salsa dance.

overall, I really want to keep my emotions from being too loud because I definitely think it’ll be more fun to go in blind…just know I’m screaming, crying, throwing up.

good luck & see you on the other side!

what I didn’t like: some of these characters are crusin’ for a bruisin’. outside of the plot, I did find myself getting a little slumpy. It may have been because I was binge reading or if the amount of content just overwhelmed me. I think if I had planned a bit better then I wouldn’t have felt that way. so if you’re going to binge it set aside some time to do it, otherwise just read it in batches. The story is good either way.

special notes:
I did receive this book as an arc but these opinions are my own. I do recommend this series, this book can NOT be read without reading its prequel series, Black Falls High and the previous 2 books in the Mayfair series.

if you follow my reviews then you have noticed I’ve changed up the formatting a bit starting with this review. I honestly got a bit burned out from doing the very extensive reviews, so this is what will be seen for the foreseeable future. The content and overarching review content will be the same but I’m just typing what’s in my head straight up instead of making it fancy. thanks for sticking along with me!

triggers:

Dub con, violence, emotional and mental abuse, murder, death of characters, gang violence, mafia violence, emotional cheating, drug use and abuse, other woman drama, other man drama, abandonment, cliffhanger, overdose, depression/mental illness, breath play, knife play, somnophilia, physical violence, on page sex, group scenes, alcohol use, arranged marriage.

this list is straight from kg’s website which can be found here: https://www.kgreuss.com/black-falls-high

link to the book:

this book will be on ku (although this is subject to change as the author intends to go store wide her her books) and releases on august 31, 2023

Yea.. Unfortunately, KG Reuss lost me on this one.
I started reading her books with the Kings of Bolten series - and despite there being some parts of that series that have bothered me, I have ate that series up.

So then I read the Black Falls High series, where these Mayfair characters are first introduced. And again, despite there being parts that annoyed me, I devoured that series.

So of course, I moved on to Mayfair U and continued to read about Rosie & her horsemen - but the series just lost me. I felt like maybe I was forcing myself to pretend to like it, but ultimately - I'm lost.

It's very repetitive - the whole rosie not wanting to be a part of this life, and her men not wanting to lose her but refusing to change anything and refusing to give her any freedom to be happy. It's getting old. They are constantly arguing, then they use sex to "make up" and then they're arguing again about the same things. Like the girl is MISERABLE, and has little moments where she stands up for herself, but then she turns all weak just because they give her a kiss on the cheek and is all "jk I'm so happy" - but she's miserable. It's not cute.

The story is being dragged out, which is the same thing I'm now feeling about the Bolten series because she said the 5th book was the last but jk now there's another one. It's just all very repetitive & gets old.

OH. and Chapter 6 of this book - yea, not okay. I understand there's CNC scenes and whatnot, but that wasn't CNC... that was just NC. No matter how you sugarcoat it. That was honestly like... traumatizing to read & then she's just like "oh they love eachother it's fine". NAH.

anywhoo. long story short, I was in to the series, and now I'm not. K byeeeee.

KG knows how to write a dark romance and honestly she’s one of my insta buy/reads

But this book didn’t quite hit it for me, it felt a little repetitive at times and the boys went from I love them all to now they really irritate the crap out of me.
Ethan and Enzo aren’t annoying AF. I liked Enzo originally but one of the first scenes in this book really rubbed me the wrong way and honestly he needs like a massive redeeming factor at some point because that I was not down for - now I know dubcon/noncon are automatic in these books but Enzo being like that with Rosalie I just couldn’t get over. Ethan is a massive hypocrite, he’s need a bucketload of therapy and making these drugs, drugs he’d murder if anyone used in his ‘family’ because they can do such awful things especially after his childhood, just makes me dislike him so so much which is a shame as I loved him in black falls high.

Fox and Anson are the only guys I really liked in this book, and honestly wish fox would just run away with Rosalie at this point especially if he really loved her.

And don’t get me started on Rosalie, she’s just accepts every fuck up they do, sure she might sulk for a few hours but then alls forgiven, especially if they throw in a few tears. She really needs to stand up for herself, because all her guys do is lie, act shitty to protect her but actually hurt her way more, and just sink lower and lower in my opinion. Rosalie has always been annoying for me and I love a strong FMC and she just isn’t one, and her guys just railroad her and don’t even protect her from each other. Hopefully the next book is better

Let's throw in some casual cannibalism to *really* get that shock effect 😍😍😍😍
Lmao, these books is pure entertainment for me now. I wanna see how far KG Reuss will take this.

Literally 90% of this book is repeating itself♻️:
Rosalie hates this lifestyle -> the guys promise to be better -> Rosalie shows scepticism -> they fuck -> -> Rosalie cries -> She wakes up the next morning with a smile and life is good again -> aaaaaand repeat!

Throw in: Rosalie and Anson is hanging out and laughing -> Ethan says: "She looks happy, doesn't she?" -> Cole and Enzo goes out of their minds -> they confront Rosalie and bans her from seeing Anson -> they argue-> they fuck -> Rosalie hangs out with Anson once more -> and repeat 😂

Also Enzo straight up rapes Rosalie in chapter 6. Cole also borderline SAed her. He also assaults her by choking her every time she upsets him. That was a very hard read. They're all suppose to be in this loving and caring relationship, but every time Rosalie says something especially Enzo or Cole doesn't approve of, they just manhandles her and forces themselves on her. It’s quite disturbing actually. After Enzo rapes her, Rosalie cries, he asks for forgiveness and she gives in. Gotta love this author lmao.

I love me some dub/non-con, but not when the main characters are in a loving relationship. That is messed up.

I have more highlights from this book than I from all my other books put together. And all my highlights have notes that says "eeeeeeeewwwwwwww David". Not a good vibe.

I really can't fathom why people are giving this series such high rating. It truly baffles me. Oh well, like I said; this is pure entertainment now 🍿🍿🍿

Okay, this one was a definite improvement over the first two books in the series.

Still think Enzo is a selfish, gaslighting asshole. Cole also gaslights Rosalie, thinks of nothing but sex 24/7, and his breeding kink is obnoxious. Neither of these self-absorbed dicks care in the least what Rosalie wants or needs. They don't love the woman she is. Just the barefoot and pregnant version in their imaginations who only exists to service their needs. God, will she just dump them alread?

Fox, on the other hand, apparently had a personality-restoration transplant and he's back to being the thoughtful guy we met in the first series. I really liked him in this book. I want to say that I never saw that one twist coming, but his resemblance to Anson was mentioned all the way back in Black Falls High, so it wasn't a complete surprise.

And Ethan? He's just so broken, it's hard to stay angry at him. He clearly wants out of this whole mess and Enzo refuses to listen. I was really hoping for Ethan and Anson to have a conversation about Church. I thought Ethan would figure out what Anson's sacrifice was, but maybe in the next book.

Anson is still my absolute fave. He broke my heart and all I wanted was to bundle him up and make cocoa for him. He deserves all of the love in the world. Loved seeing a ruthless side to him at the very end.

Who the hell is Sylar? Two scenes in the entire book and I'm OBSESSED! I must know everything about him. Does he have his own series? Will he later?

It's not an exaggeration saying this book is a Rollercoaster ride. The emotional damage and whiplash we subject ourselves to when we open a KG Reuss novel shows our devotion (and possible mental illness 😉). To keep with the amusement park (of torture) theme, I did find myself feeling like I was stuck on a carousel going around and around. It seemed like the same argument and inner monologs over and over again with no forward movement. I always know, going into a Reuss novel, that there's a butt ton of triggers, I'm prepared and very rarely bothered. But, Enzo got me this time.... I would be remiss if I didn't admit, I actually find myself loathing him and falling out of love with all the Horseman this time around. Congrats on bringing out so much emotion from me Ms Reuss, that's talent indeed!!! But if anyone can somehow make me like them again, it will be the magic of Reuss.
Ugh, don't get me started on Rosie, she's such a spineless doormat and I can't stand it. I miss the Rosie from In Silence. When she was on her revenge tour and out to stick it to the guys. Where's the fiery personality that usually comes along with a red head?!?
Thank goodness for Anson, he is the light in this fun house of terror. I've been #teamAnson since day one and will continue to sing his praises (get it). He is the only one with Rosie's best interest at heart and wants her to be happy and follow her dreams...
The breadcrumbs and cameos are making my mind spin, so many theories, thoughts and conspiracies I LOVE IT!!!!!
Bring it on, I'm ready!

Worlds Colliding- a WARNING about Chapel Crest crossover content

This book is an excellent continuation of the horsemen’s story and it intersects with other “worlds” KG writes. However, I purposely did NOT read the Boys of Chapel Crest due to the trigger warnings and level of darkness that was warned. So imagine my discomfort to encounter a scene depicting graphic child sexual abuse and cannibalism in this book, all connected to the world of Chapel Crest. I think it’s unfair to intersect these worlds when we are so far into a series. I’m deeply invested in the outcome of the Horsemen series and I’m angry that I have to read through these extra dark themes to see what happens with them. It’s not what I signed up for when I started reading the series. If you have avoided reading Chapel Crest because it’s too dark then please BE WARNED that darkness bleeds into this book, I was not prepared for it and don’t want anyone else caught off guard. KG I love intersecting worlds but please be mindful that if people are avoiding your darker content on purpose then adding it to another series that people are so far into is upsetting to the readers, I am certainly not speaking for everyone but I can’t be the only one upset and feeling blindsided. With all of that being said it’s a good book that keeps you on edge just like the title and I will keep reading to see what happens to Rosalie and the guys.

In On the Edge by KG Reuss, life isn't about the fall; it's about the sudden stop. Funerals for loved ones shouldn't be routine, and the chilling thought of being next shouldn't be a constant shadow.

This world is harsher than the last, with the horsemen slipping away, leaving behind a numbness that's hard to navigate. Those warned to keep a distance keep getting closer, entangling in a suffocating nightmare.

But, hey, the show must go on. Through the pain, strength becomes the lifeline. On the edge of forever, there's a sense that a fall is imminent. It's not a matter of if but when.

Book three in Mayfair University delves into Rosalie and the horsemen's story, a mix of suspense and the complexities of one female and four male romance. Dark content adds layers to this tale, creating an atmosphere where every moment teeters on the edge. Check the author's site for more information, but be prepared for a journey that keeps you balancing on the edge.

The intensity and emotional ride that is Book 3 in Mayfair University is beyond words to engulf the need to read this series. The Horsemen and their Rosie are starting to have some division amongst them and it is heart wrenching. They have been through so much and there is no end in site. Their world is starting to become more dangerous than before and now there are new and deadly players being revealed and our sweet Rosie is stuck right in the middle. Rosie is still struggling with her future and she loves her horsemen and has no intention to be without them but their world is being shook and shattered; which could lead to unexpected and gut wrenching consequences. There is great progression with each horsemen and Anson in this book and it is quite an entangled mess of emotions. We get more insight into each of Rosie's men which is makes us have a better understanding of what is going on with them but there is so much discord that the stress and anxiety throughout this novel is going to drive you crazy!!

K.G. always delivers books that are going to make you scream, cry (sob really), and destroy you emotionally, psychologically, and mentally. If you have not entered this Chaos Universe then you need to run and start all her amazing series because once you meet all these amazing characters you will have no desire to leave. Happy Reading!!
