Never Say Never #4

Falling for the Rookie

Rate this book
People rarely catch me off guard. I’m Collin St. James, the starting wide receiver for the Virginia Thunder, and playing football has kept me on my toes. But nothing could have prepared me to mentor our newest teammate, kicker Charlie Nicholson.

I wasn’t caught off guard because I had to take someone under my wing, or because Charlie was easily banging sixty-yard kicks through the uprights. It happened when the rookie’s silver helmet came off and long blonde hair spilled out. Completely baffled, I edged closer and took in the prettiest blue eyes I’d ever seen.

Charlie wasn’t only a complete knockout, she was also my younger sister’s closest friend, and when she smiled at me, I knew right then and there I was in serious trouble.

The last thing I needed was a distraction, but thanks to my gorgeous new teammate—and, to my surprise, my roommate—that was exactly what I got.

A light, problem free, no misunderstanding read just like I wanted. I enjoyed it very much just like the rest in the series.

I haven't stopped swooning hard since the first chapter of Falling For The Rookie by Carina Rose. This sports romance was heartwarming perfection. Charlie and Colleen are so adorable together. They are many things..team mates, house mates, best friend's brother but above all they have such a beautiful connection built of love, respect and of course, sizzling hot passion! The whole crew of Thunders and their extended family is a big part of this story's attraction.

NFL star Colleen St. James didn't expect his sister's best friend Charlie to be their new kicker and also her housemate. He remembers her as this shy nerd girl but this woman is straight out of his dirty fantasy. But she is off limits. Charlie had a crush on him for ever and staying together and playing together isn't easy for her. When will they give into the temptation?

Colleen is an amazing hero. He is charming and gorgeous and has a sexy confidenve. From the first day ,he felt over protective about Charlie. He tried to tell himself that it's because she is his sisters best friend but soon, he had to admit that he likes Charlie and it goes beyond their sizzling hot chemistry. Seriously what's not to like? This woman is kicking balls ( literally). She is smart and talented and a gifted athlete as she is the first and only female player in the league. She had feelings for Colleen but she didn't let it cloud her judgement or her performance in field. It was a slow burn as Charlie tested his limits at every step and finally everything exploded. It was low in steam but the chemistry was magical. They both had to take some tough decisions and make some tough choices at the end. But that heartbreak only consolidated their connection. I loved how the players are a family and I feel I know all of them closely yet I want to know more. It was sweet and heartwarming with just a little spice. And I loved every second of it.

I reviewed an early copy voluntarily

Sometimes life throws you a curveball (I know I am mixing sports metaphors here), especially when it comes to love. So what if the love of your life turns out to be your roommate, your team's new kicker, AND your younger sister's best friend?

Wide receiver Collin St. James faces this dilemma when Charlie Nicholson joins the Virginia Thunder. As his sister's best friend, he is now beholden to keep an eye out for Charlie. Surely, he can keep some distance, right? Well, not when Charlie also becomes his roommate.

I am always down for a strong female character willing to break barriers, and it was great to get that in Charlie. She is focused and driven, but she also balances that with finding love from someone she's wanted all her life.

The couple's chemistry is engaging and steamy. I am equally a sucker for a man who takes granted someone who has been under his nose all along. I enjoyed Collin's falling into love a lot.

I have adored this series, and this fourth installment is no different. It can be read as a standalone, but I did enjoy seeing characters from previous books.

** I am voluntarily reviewing an advance copy of this book. Thank you to Carina Rose and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for providing an ARC. **

Falling for the Rookie is Book Four in this absolutely fantastic series by Carina Rose. We meet Collin St James star Wide Receiver for the Virginia Thunder, a man who seems to have it all, a great career, great friends and family, no trouble with the ladies but when one encounter on the football field upends everything he knows.
Charlie Nicholson is a young woman who has all the book smarts to be a doctor which has always been her dream but when an opportunity comes her way to be the only female kicker in the league she takes the chance, but what she never expects is that her forever crush would not only become her mentor but hopefully something more.
Collin & Charlie have undeniable chemistry and sometimes taking risks is what you have to do to make what you want a reality.
When you get to the end of their story you won’t be able to keep the smile from your face because knowing that there just might be that HEA will be worth it all.

Tropes
Sports romance
Sister best friend
Roommates/ forced proximity
Age gap

This was such a cute, lighthearted sports romance. It follows Collin who is already on a professional football team, and he gets in charge of mentoring the teams new kicker, Charlie.

Charlie is trying out football after only playing soccer, after being recruited to a team. The team Her best friends brother happens to be on. Charlie hasn’t seen Collin since she was little, and has always had a crush on him.

Collin isn’t aware Charlie is a girl much less his little sisters best friend, who use to stare at him all the time. Collin is put in charge of mentoring her and getting her accustomed to the game. To make the twist even more Collins sister, tells Charlie she can live with Collin.

Their romance is so adorable, and it was the fluffy romance I needed. It’s low spice, but high on adorableness.

The swoon is big with this cute, "clean" romance by Carina Rose. Collin St. James is in for the surprise of his life when his little sister's best friend turns out to the the team's new Kicker. Charlie Nicholson is breaking barriers in professional footballer as the league's first female kicker. She's also being mentored by the one guy she's loved practically her whole life. Will she break her own heart while she's breaking records?

Love the characters in this story. Charlie was fiesty, fierce but still really humble despite all she's accomplished. Collin is a great book boyfriend; supportive, kind, sexy and protective. The team was a dream and gave Collin and Charlie a safe place to land when they figured things out! Good read!

Absolutely loved this book. Being a sports gal and loving #girlpower, this book has it all. Great characters and fun friendships, plus we get to see what some of our other favorite series characters are doing. My favorite line is:
"Being apart even though it hadn’t been very long had done a number on both of us. I supposed that was what happened when you missed half of your heart."

I need a trigger warning for 21yo heroines. Particularly 21yo virgins. Just stop.

The only interesting thing about this book is that there is a female kicker for a pro football team. The rest is just so unbelievable you cannot suspend belief.

FMC is supposed to be smart, but maybe not so much. I truly thought it was a joke when she said she read the football rules on the plane. It was not. She had never played football but could kick. The hotshot wide receiver didn't even know that his team had a female rookie kicker. Literally NO ONE knew. How is that possible? They just scooped her up from nowhere. MMC's sister just offers her brother's place for her friend to stay. Why? It's a little disgusting why you think she would do that.

Nothing made sense and the ick factor of an older man with a 21yo virgin was too much. DNF very early on.

Love how all these books build upon characters from the previous books. This one truly resonated with me as it was a story of a lifetime crush. They hadn’t seen eachother in years and finally reconnected. A trope near and dear to my heart. Love the quirky book nerd Charlie and how she softens the heart of Collin. Sad that this is book 4 out of 5. On to the next one! So grateful this sefies got me out of my slump!

Being on book 4 - what I like about the series, is how the men stand up for their love-interest, shut nasty bullies, family and other down - never having experienced something like that in real life, it is wonderful to have as a romance ideal.
Needless to say that all the male characters are wonderful.
Well done on the "feel-good" romance, the bit of heart-ache is forgiven (as it is well written).

Cute
She's the first female kicker in the NFL
She's loved him since she first met him when she was 9.
He doesn't recognize her right away when she takes off her helmet and all her long blonde hair tumbles out.
Now he gets to be her mentor, oh and his roommate.

A sweet and fun book that had all the wonderful tropes; sports romance, roommates/ force proximity, best friend's brother, and age gap.

Charlie and Collin are such lovely characters and you'll fall in love with them and their story. There wasn't a lot; if any, spice in this book, but you could feel the fire burning between these characters.
What I also loved was that this wasn't an insta-love story, because I hate those.

A really good and fun light read.

I received an ARC, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Collin cannot believe the gorgeous new kicker on his team is the nerdy best friend of his sister. The last time he saw her she was just a young girl that he barely noticed. Now she's a beautiful athlete playing on his team and living in his home. What's a wide receiver to do with his attraction to someone he shouldn't be thinking of as more than a teammate?

Charlie's always been focused on her studies, and nothing took away from them except perhaps her inconvenient and unrequited crush on her best friend's older brother. Now she has to live with him and play on his team and she's having a hard time keeping that crush at bay. But does she have to keep it to herself when she finds out it's not so unrequited any longer?

Gah these two are adorable! Sweet, swoon worthy and more than a little hot, Charlie and her man are the reason I love brother's friend/football/forced proximity so much.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 thanks to a lot of warm and fuzzy good vibes.

Charlotte "Charlie" Nicholson is a 21 year old Super Woman who's had a childhood crush on the brother of her best friend Sally for over a decade (when she was 9 and he was a high school senior).

That brother (Collin St. James) is now a multimillionaire, skirt chasing, Maserati driving, mansion owning, veteran wide receiver for a professional football team called the Virginia Thunder.

There is no such NFL team, but writers are reluctant to use real team names for legal reasons (essentially, if they don't get permission, they have to avoid any negative characterization of the team or the players on the team).

Charlie is now a high achieving brainiac in Colorado with extraordinary recall who had just graduated college after only 3 years and had plans to become a doctor like her father. She was brilliant, beautiful, friendly, and athletic. Apparently, she was so insanely athletic that she was picked by the Thunder's new female GM to be the first female professional football player. Charlie's a kicker capable of kicking 60-yard field goals despite never having played football.

Her BFF Sally arranges for Charlie to stay with Collin and Collin is picked by his team to mentor Charlie. The process of integrating Charlie into the team and into Collin's life is entertaining and relatively realistic (setting aside the unlikely prospect of a 60 yard field goal kicking woman with no prior experience).

In reality, there was once a female U.S. soccer star named Carli Lloyd who actually “got some inquiries” after hitting a 55-yard field goal following a Ravens-Eagles joint practice in 2019 before she retired.

All the characters here are likeable and there really aren't any villains. The locker room is basically PG and drama free. It was also a bit odd that Charlie is described as a virgin "ready to lose her V-card". Neither she nor Collin have a pesky significant other and there's virtually no spice in the bedroom.

But I still enjoyed this quite a bit, at least up until the inevitable conflict that was manufactured towards the end. That conflict (the "Tough Choice" trope) was really annoying. There's an inconvenient option that is presented as unavoidably creating some sort of insurmountable hurdle. It made no sense to me, other than giving the characters a hurdle to overcome.

There's a gift box from Collin with a mystery gift for Charlie that was really no mystery. But it was nevertheless quite a lovely and significant gift. And at one point Charlie reaches out to her mother for guidance but gets her Dad instead. Her Dad's advice, reluctantly sought, was the best and most loving advice he could have given and a highlight of the book. It's also one of the rare times that the parents of either main character play a role in the book.

I probably should have rounded this down to 4 stars but I can't deny that I really enjoyed this sports romance. And having the characters play Scrabble is certainly worth half a star.

From the moment I picked up this book I was utterly charmed...charmed by the connection between these two teammates (and roommates) and their slow-burn journey to HEA. The storyline was just different enough to help this book standout in the crowded genre of sports romances which had me inhaling each turn of the page while reveling in the burgeoning romance between Collin St. James and Charlie Nicholson. Add in the other players of the Virginia Thunder football team, with their sense of family and brotherly byplay, and readers will find a story that will put a smile on their face while warming their heart.

Collin St. James is a star on the football field, one who oozes confidence in himself but who is supportive of his teammates and friends too. He's sweet, caring, and won my heart from the get-go. Collin's not the kind of guy to have women trouble, but Charlie presents him with all sorts of problems...ever since he met her as a nerdy young girl who was the best friend of his sister. He could see the crush she had on him and kept her at arm's length throughout the years out of respect for his sister. Things have changed a lot since she was young though and becoming Collin's roommate makes it even more difficult to continue keeping her at arm's length in their sweet and sensual romance.

Charlie's an immensely appealing heroine, one with a lot on her plate as she strives for a successful future. Charlie started off as a soccer player but her talent has led her to the football field where Collin is her mentor...and her continuing temptation. She's focused on her kicking, knowing how much is riding on her being the first female kicker in football, but Collin's a delightful distraction. From the moment they met years ago, until now, they've been dancing around the truth of what their hearts want...and with each turn of the page they get ever closer to what they both want.

Readers will fall for this unique tale, fall for the sweet yet sizzling connection between these two very likable characters, and not be at all ready to reach the end of this captivating romance. Thankfully, the secondary characters give me hope for yet another delightful tale from Ms. Rose which has me already waiting with bated breath!

Having read Love in the End Zone, Married to the Tight End, and Charmed by the Player i've so been looking forward to more from this author and series! As soon as i found out about this fourth installment i wanted to read it. I picked it up and got right back into the Never Say Never world. I so enjoyed this story!

Charlie and Collin's journey puled me in right from the get go! Charlie has been best friends with Collin's sister Sally ever since they were kids. Now Collin is the wide receiver for the Virginia Thunder and the new rookie is Charlie who has just become their new kicker. Can these two just be teammates as well as roommates and go their own ways? or can this path lead them to the touchdown of their hearts?

I really liked how quickly Charlie and Collin got my attention and into this story and the different way they were brought back into each other's lives. I admired Charlie, especially when it came to being the only female in football and related to her so much! I enjoyed getting to see her tackle being on the team and things to do with her kicking position. I enjoyed getting to see Collin mentor Charlie, handling things on the team / at home, and how he'd deal with his feelings for Charlie.

The chemistry between Charlie and Collin was great! I didn't know how these two would deal with certain things, especially when it came to each other which got me even more into their story. I've always been a football fan and anytime i get to read about a woman in the sport brings a certain joy to my heart that i can't begin to put into words.

It was awesome being back in this world! I could picture it all as well!

With Falling for the Rookie, Ms.Rose has created such a good and breath of fresh air read with heart and feels that kept me turning the pages! I can't wait to dive back into this series with the fifth installment, Romanced by the Rival! 💚🏈

4.5 stars!!!!!!

This was my first book in this series and by this author but it won't be my last on either front!!! I felt like I might have understood some characters and the history a little better if I started there but I wasn't lost and could keep up just fine.

It's a great, quick read about a girl (Charlie) who has crushed on her best friend's brother (Collin) since she was younger but as you can imagine.....he never really noticed her.

We meet them later in life with Charlie just graduating and now joining the Thunder as a kicker after the new GM found her at a kicking contest. Collin is enlisted as a mentor for the Rookie not knowing Charlie is a girl or his sister's best friend. When he does meet her there is interest and then he finds out who she is and where she is staying.

There is great development of relationships; not just between Charlie and Collin but also with Charlie making friends with other females in the group and also getting to see the guys that Collin hangs out with from the team. We get to see Charlie adjust to a male dominant sport and knowing that she has decisions to make at the end of the season.....football or continue toward her medical degree.

It was good to see Charlie start to grow and find herself a little bit but as a 21-year-old it was great to also see her reach to her roots......her parents and best friend for some advice when needed. Her dad gave some great perspective not only for her but even I found some truth in his words about love and life. Same token it was great to see the relationship Collin had with his sister Sally and also some of his teammates.

There were of course some bumps in the road but the author did a great job of not prolonging the situation and resolution was resolved quicker than it could have been. I really love Charlie and Collin and how they let each other grow while trying to figure out where they fit with each other.

I will definitely be checking out the other books and the other characters to see how everything plays out with everyone.

Aww! What a cute read! <—— Literally what I said, out loud, to myself, after finishing this book 😂🥰 This book is just another example of what I love about every Carina Rose story I read. They are sweet and wholesome and just leave you with a happy, feel good feeling after completing her book. Falling for the Rookie gave me those same feel good feelings I’m so used to with all of her books. Falling for the Rookie was just the right level of sweet, funny and romance I desperately needed to provide a little escape from the craziness of the world today.

Charlie, our heroine, is the type of girl you can imagine just easily makes friends with anyone she meets. She is friendly, brilliant, beautiful and seemingly talented at everything she does, but is also completely humble. Collin is a dreamboat. Charlie’s dreamboat specifically, but he could make any girl fall for him! He is selfless, an incredible athlete, a great brother, and handsome.

I love the premise of this story and that Charlie has known from day one how she feels. I’m a sucker for romance and I love the idea of love at first sight. There are some trials for each person through this book and it has you cheering for them and strongly hoping things will go in the direction you want to see! I love the friends and teammates who play a role in this book and love getting to see updates of other couples I’ve fallen for earlier on in this series! This is part of a series but I think can easily be read as a standalone if you want, though of course I encourage reading them all because I loved them all! Overall, this book was just what I needed and a great installment for this series. There was love, passion, a little bit of angst, and a whole lot of hope and happiness. If you’re needing a light read like me and have a thing for a good sports romance, this is the one for you!

Falling for the Rookie is adorable!! Carina Rose puts her magic touch on the best friend's older brother love interest trope and the result is sweet and wonderful. With the great twist with respect to Charlie Nicholson's new job with the Virginia Thunder, Collin St. James was in for one heck of a whirlwind season.

Rose's own love of the game of football was never more evident as she gives Charlie her cool new position as the first female kicker in the NFL. Although received in the beginning with some trepidation from her team, Charlie is resilient and proves her worth with each point through those goalposts.

But it's the unexpected romance she gets to enjoy with Collin that is at the forefront of this book and the way these two fall hard for one another is pure joy. Charlie's crush on him for the past 10 years or so adds to the desire she now has for the sexy starting wide receiver. There's low angst throughout but not wanting the world to know that these roommates are becoming so much more adds a bit of unease to keep both Charlie and Collin on their toes as the new kicker goes from the nerdy girl to a passionate siren within a few months.

Best friend Sally who is Collin's snarky little sister uses her sneaky wiles to get these two together and there is no doubt they belong together. Sally in conjunction with the rest of the Thunder crew provides support, laughs, and good-natured ribbing when needed and there is no question that more crazy-good pairings are on the horizon.

A great respite from all the heavy out there, whether imaginary or real-life, Falling for the Rookie is well-written and full of the charm Carina Rose is known for. I really enjoyed this book and happily give it a solid 4 stars!

#fallingfortherookie is book four in the #neversayneverfootballseries by @author_carinarose

Collin is a reallllll good football player. He’s popular with his teammates and the ladies, but also a man who’d do anything for his family and team. He’s asked to mentor the new kicker, obviously he agrees. Until the helmets off and long hair spills out. He’s captivated from the second he noticed the new kicker’s female; and a damn good one. He stops though when he gets the hint of who she is. Her sister’s nerdy best friend, who grew up. Now he has to spend a lot of time with the girl he can’t look away from. Collin tries hard to not cross the line with his teammate, no matter how perfect she is… until he just can’t resist anymore.

Charlie is out of her element. She’s now a kicker for a pro football team and the first female to do so. But what’s harder than kicking field goals and impressing your new teammates? Being around your lifelong crush at practice and at home since your staying with him. Collin was always the one for Charlie, even if in her dreams. Until something changes and she prays her fantasy becomes her new reality.

This is such a cute series. This book had a little more spice than the others (still relatively clean) but it’s so good! I love these characters. Collin is a great friend and brother but a little oblivious. Charlie is amazing, Smart, talented and damn near perfect at everything. I want to be her when I grow up. I loved these two. Their support and relationship blossomed and it was so nice to see Charlie grow confident and Collin be by her side. Totally recommend.

I am loving this series by the lovely Carina Rose! Get ready to swoon for Collin St. James and Cheer for Charlie Nelson.
Breaking News from the Virgina Thunder camp. Wide receiver Collin St. James has just been knocked off his game. No not his football game his off the field player game. Falling on the game field has never hurt as much as falling for the rookie!
Charlie Nelson has just had an offer she can't refuse. Be the first female kicker in the league. This is going to come with a whole boatload of publicity. Yes, she is strong, talented, and can kick a 60-yard field goal like nobody's business but her teenage crush is on that team, and he is now her new mentor. Charlie and Collin's sister have been besties since junior high, so when she offers her brother's house to Charlie until she finds her footing in Virginia, it seems like the perfect set up.
The moment Collin sees the talent of Charlie he is excited for the team, the second the helmet comes off and the long blonde locks fall he is mesmerized and more than surprised! Get ready fall in love with the swoon worthy Collin and the determined and talented Charlie as we watch this new relationship unfold on and off the field. This couple is sweet, sassy, fun and have that slow sizzle that I love so much! Their chemistry is on spot, and their banter is just wonderful!

A good this book in exchange of a honest review. Before reading this book, I didn't read a book from Carine Rose and what a mistake. The characters were heartwarming and perfect. The relationship between Collin and Charlie was a good one. Charlie was in love with since she was a little girl (a nerd).

In this book, I love the fact that a woman is in a team full of men. But she's respected and she can do her sport. It's very different from sport romance. It was a great idea and well written not a cliché. It's a low spicy romance but a good one.

The side characters were very interesting too. I would like to know more about Sally, Cami, Sophie and Wyatt. I will read Harley and Lucas's book. Their story seems a good one too.

What I love in this book, it's there isn't jealousy from an other girl who's in love with the main male character. In the beginning, I was scared that Sophie will be this woman but no, I was wrong.
Even if she's a side character, Sophie is my favourite. Her friendship with Collin is a great one. And I love how she takes Charlie under her wings.
Collin has a good group of friends.

Charlie was a virgin and not a little scared girl. I like that. Her reason were true and not cliché.

Collin is a protector for Charlie since the beginning and not because she's best friend with her sister.

Falling for the Rookie was a charming contemporary and enjoyable read. I am always excited to read a sports romance book. This book didn't disappoint. I wasn't ready for Charlie and Collin's story to be over. Falling for the Rookie is the first book I have read by Carina Rose, and I am super excited to see what comes next in this series. It was a refreshing and delightful book to read. I loved all the characters in this book. They had depth, and I enjoyed the small look into their lives. The spice level was about an 8. This book had me laughing and got a little misty-eyed.

Charlotte "Charlie" Nicholson was the trifecta, intelligent, attractive, and amazing sports. I loved that she was confident in her own way. Charlie wasn't arrogant or overconfident either. She was nerdy, laid back, and just wanted to find out what she wanted out of life. Coliin St. James was a football star. He was tall, good-looking, and just a little possessive. I was thrilled when I discovered how Charlie and Colin were connected. The angst was there with both characters trying to fight and ignore their feelings because of their situation.

If you like the author, Andrea Simonne, then you will love this book and author.- Brooke

A highly anticipated book involving two players on the Virginia Thunder. Wide receiver Collin St. James is tasked as being a mentor to the recently signed rookie kicker, Charlie Nicholson. In an unusual twist, Charlotte “Charlie” is the best friend of Collin’s sister and has had a crush on him since childhood. In addition to the flawless way in which she nails her field goals and kicks, she is a self-proclaimed nerd with aspirations to attend medical school.

The story proceeds at a brisk pace as their close proximity has Collin looking at Charlie in a very different light. There are some interesting scenes between the couple as they begin to explore their blossoming romance. When their resulting relationship is tested, the HEA illustrates how each has truly influenced the other. The evolution of the earlier couples in this book is memorable Easter eggs, which made me appreciate their role in bringing Collin and Charlie together. I am hoping that there will be future installments to this lively and humorous series.

This is the fourth book in Carina Rose’s Never Say Never Football series. While each story involves a different couple, it is recommended to read the series in order, to fully appreciate the contribution of the earlier couples in this latest installment.

There's one more football game of the season on Sunday, and after that, I'm left with serious withdrawals for my beloved football. I say that because there are a handful of authors who need to help a girl out by releasing a lot of football romance books to keep me grounded, and Carina Rose is on that list LOL! Collin St. James is the star WR1 of the Virginia Thunder, and he's a dream that's for sure. His life is thrown into turmoil when he's tasked to mentor the kicker, Charlie Nicholson, his newest teammate. It sounds like it wouldn't be that big of a deal, but here's where it gets EPIC, Charlie is a female kicker on the field of a man's sport, and the sparks are flying. Look, I'm not going to lie, the moment I picked this book up with a heroine playing pro football, I was lost, and nothing could take the love of this story away from me because #GIRLPOWER y'all! She would have never had to find the perfect man for her, but for the bonus SHE DID in Collin! Of course there's even a forbidden aspect since Charlie is his sister's best friend so there's some tension to boot especially after she moves in with him. I'm telling you, this story is the Vince Lombardi of football stories and EVERYONE needs it in their lives! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Thunder are back and as fun, competitive and ridiculous as ever. Carina Rose delivered a swoony and empowering romance in Falling for the Rookie and I gobbled up every word.

I absolutely loved Charlie. A woman so out of her comfort zone but unwilling to back down. She stepped up and into the challenge she was presented with class and grace and determination that wouldn't let her fail. If only she could get her feelings for her childhood crush, Collin, under control.

Collin was book boyfriend perfection. Patient. Generous. Protective. And even though he was a hot shot professional athlete, he didn't lose sight of his roots and what really mattered. But what I liked most about him was the care he showed Charlie as she navigated her new world. Especially as he tried to hide his growing feelings...

I enjoyed watching these two struggle to keep their attraction under control for the betterment of the team. But when they gave in...it was so worth the wait. From start to finish Charlie and Collin's slow-ish burn, low angst, friends to lovers romance was smart, witty and playful (and I'm not just talking about on the field). I can't wait to see what's in store for the team next.

(I received an ARC for this book)

I LOVE that sports romance authors are writing females into predominantly male roles! Whether that’s in the office, the staff, coaching, or players. Unfortunately, I felt like this one was maybe trying too hard. Charlie didn’t technically want to play football, she was essentially just helping out. If this was a college romance, this would have been a better fit for the scenario. Collin doesn’t realize that he’s about to help out a female rookie. Or that she’ll be his new roommate. Or that she’s his sister’s best friend. The same friend that he’s barely noticed over the years, while she’s been daydreaming about him for years. See why this would have been a better fit for a college team? I really enjoyed Collin and Charlie. Their chemistry, the friendships with other characters. I really enjoyed how supportive the teammates he was closest to were. I really didn’t like how icky the rest of the team was towards Charlie. Or just in general. Once he does ask her out, it instantly felt awkward. Cute, but awkward. I also found it odd that she was upset with him for respecting her?

Falling for the Rookie is book four in the A Never Say Never Football Romance Series which is a series of stand-alone’s . This is Colin St James and Charlie Nicholson’s story and boy do they have a tale to tell because Charlie is the only female kicker in the league and that just adds another dimension.
Colin is the starting receiver for the Virginia Thunder and Charlie is his new teammate and from the moment they meet sparks fly but she is not only his teammate, she is also his new housemate and his younger sisters beast friend and that should certainly put her off limits…..
Charlie has a lot to live up to because being the only female kicker in the league means she needs to prove herself and she has no time for relationships but playing and living with the man she has crushed on for so long puts all sorts of temptation in her way….so will they cross the line……….
This was an entertaining read that ticked my boxes, I loved the characters and I enjoyed their story, the chemistry is sizzling and watching this couple try to resist temptation added another dimension to their journey and it was great to catch up with the rest if the team and their partners.

Never say Never Series is quickly growing to one of my favorites. This group of characters are quirky, fun and so true hearted that you can help but love them and want them all to have their own HEA. Carina has a gift for creating these fun loving characters and a great plot to boot.

Love at first sight, a believer or not?? Charlie knew at 9 years old that she wanted Collin, her best friend’s much older brother. It would be many years later before she sees Collin again. As the new rookie kicker for the Virginia Thunder’s, Charlie blindsides Collin when she slips off her helmet and her long blonde hair flows out while being introduced to him as his new mentee.

Can he ever see her as anything other than his baby sister’s nerdy friend or will he be able to be a mentor to this beautiful young lady to be the first female on the field for this industry ?You will have to read this little gem to find out but let me tell you, you won’t regret it. This series is fun! I can’t wait to see what character’s story is next!
