Katherine Sadler has done it again and written a story that is not just labeled a romantic comedy, but one that actually left me laughing out loud and rooting for Goldy and Henry to get their HEA. This romantic comedy follows Goldy as she begins to shed her big city personality while Henry is preparing her for the Big Fishing Tournament. But there is more to Goldy than meets the eye, there are secrets that she would prefer that no one finds out and this leads to her fear that she might just lose her chance at love and happiness. Goldy’s one goal is to make it through her time living back home with her three sisters in Catalpa Creek without losing her mind. She only needs to fulfill her obligation to her father’s will before she can once again put this small town behind her, and she will fight for that to happen. However, Fate has more in store for her than this pale imitation of a life, and Goldy is too much of a competitor to just sit back and do nothing. So, while she is ‘home’, she will put her all into helping her sisters, even if it means her best intentions are taken the wrong way; support her best friend’s business, even if she doesn't love the idea of working in a preschool; and keep herself isolated from everyone, even if she is falling madly in love with Henry and everyone in Catalpa Creek.
One of the main strengths of this book, and there are many, is the way that Goldy is crafted. When I met her in Book One, Lost and Found, I didn’t think that she would carry a whole book on her own, and I wasn’t sure that I would take to her. However, as I learned more about her and began to understand her motivations and actions, I watched as her character blossomed and developed through all sorts of fish out of water moments to become the woman I not only rooted for, but felt for. As you can guess, this book and her story surprised me and drew me even deeper into the whole extended world of Catalpa Creek. Although Goldy and Henry appear to be a mismatched pair at first, it was wonderful to see Henry not just be the romantic lead but also become Goldy’s supporter. This romance is not only filled with wonderful moments that will touch your heart, but also ones that leave you wondering how these two do not cause your book to self combust because of the sexual tension that they generate!.
