Sanctuary #2

Cast and Caught

Rate this book
I prefer high heels to fishing reels, but single dad Henry Cooper is determined to hook me.

I’ve seen too many women give up everything they want for some man, and I refuse to do the same.

That path leads straight to heartache.

I say the absolute wrong thing every time I’m around him, but Henry still flirts and teases like he’s mistaken me for someone with a sense of humor.

My plan to avoid the construction contractor with the big hands, strong thighs, and ridiculous fishy puns is shot all to heck when my cousin asks Henry to teach us how to fly fish for an upcoming competition.

I’m a strong, ambitious woman and I can handle my own primal yearnings.

Until I fall into the river before I learn the difference between a fly and a lure, and he takes care of me in a way no one has before. My resolve is faltering, and I’m going to have to use everything in my power to push him away.

Because no matter how perfect he seems, he’ll never want me once he discovers my dirty secret.

Great small town romance! I love reading more and more about these characters and their growing families. The sisters story of their childhood continues to evolve and it gives a better understanding to why they are in their position and feel the way they do. The dog toy by the river is hilarious!! Great job, I can’t wait for the next book!

Small town, opposites attract romance.
It's a very cute book and I love how close the sisters are getting and how they are realizing how strong they are. There was one scene that had me laughing out loud . It definitely could have been longer, there were a couple times I felt the story moved along and there was more to be told. This is a good book and I recommend if you like romance.

Katherine Sadler has done it again and written a story that is not just labeled a romantic comedy, but one that actually left me laughing out loud and rooting for Goldy and Henry to get their HEA. This romantic comedy follows Goldy as she begins to shed her big city personality while Henry is preparing her for the Big Fishing Tournament. But there is more to Goldy than meets the eye, there are secrets that she would prefer that no one finds out and this leads to her fear that she might just lose her chance at love and happiness. Goldy’s one goal is to make it through her time living back home with her three sisters in Catalpa Creek without losing her mind. She only needs to fulfill her obligation to her father’s will before she can once again put this small town behind her, and she will fight for that to happen. However, Fate has more in store for her than this pale imitation of a life, and Goldy is too much of a competitor to just sit back and do nothing. So, while she is ‘home’, she will put her all into helping her sisters, even if it means her best intentions are taken the wrong way; support her best friend’s business, even if she doesn't love the idea of working in a preschool; and keep herself isolated from everyone, even if she is falling madly in love with Henry and everyone in Catalpa Creek.

One of the main strengths of this book, and there are many, is the way that Goldy is crafted. When I met her in Book One, Lost and Found, I didn’t think that she would carry a whole book on her own, and I wasn’t sure that I would take to her. However, as I learned more about her and began to understand her motivations and actions, I watched as her character blossomed and developed through all sorts of fish out of water moments to become the woman I not only rooted for, but felt for. As you can guess, this book and her story surprised me and drew me even deeper into the whole extended world of Catalpa Creek. Although Goldy and Henry appear to be a mismatched pair at first, it was wonderful to see Henry not just be the romantic lead but also become Goldy’s supporter. This romance is not only filled with wonderful moments that will touch your heart, but also ones that leave you wondering how these two do not cause your book to self combust because of the sexual tension that they generate!.

The last thing Goldenrod "Goldy" Weston wants to do is learn to fly fish, but her cousin and best friend Brittany, who also happens to be her boss, has decided that it's a necessary skill for them as they launch their new preschool in the small town of Catalpa Creek. Brittany believes competing in the town's annual fly fishing competition will attract more parents and students to the school. Henry Cooper, the contractor in charge of renovating the old Victorian-style house where the school will be located, volunteers to teach them, but when Brittany backs out at the last minute, Goldy ends up spending the day alone with Henry and his 5-year-old son, Max. For Henry, it's the perfect opportunity to spend time with the woman to whom he's secretly attracted, though he's convinced that Goldy hates him. The truth is that she likes him too much and is trying to keep him at a distance. She's been burned by men in the past, and besides, she's keeping a secret that she believes would make him (and everyone else in town) think less of her. But as they get to know each other better, will Goldy be able to resist the pull of the attraction between them?

Like the first book of this series, Henry and Goldy's story gave me all the feels and I loved it. I particularly appreciated that there was such a sense of growth for each of them over the course of the story. In a lot of ways, Goldy reminded me of Amy from The Big Bang Theory in that she wanted desperately to be liked and accepted but always seemed to be a step apart from everyone else. It wasn't until she came to Catalpa Creek, met Henry, and began repairing her relationship with her sisters that she finally found a place to belong. I'm sure there's more baggage for the Weston sisters to work through in future stories, but I was happy to see them start to grow closer in this book.

Overall, "Cast and Caught" was a funny, sweet story with the perfect amount of spice, and I'd highly recommend it for all contemporary/small town romance and romantic comedy fans. I look forward to the next book in the series.

I forgot how much I loved Lost and Found, the previous book in this series, until I picked up Cast and Caught and was right back in Catalpa Creek with the Weston sisters. I love this lighthearted series! The characters are quirky and delightful.

Cast and Caught is Goldenrod's story. Goldy is currently living with her sisters in a house in Catalpa Creek. She's not used to being around them, or really anyone. She was living in a condo in Aspen Cove where she worked from home and mostly kept to herself. This is a huge adjustment! While in Catalpa Creek she meets Henry Cooper and is very attracted to him, but he is a single dad and thus she feels is not a suitable match. Henry however thinks otherwise and is determined to woo her. As Goldy will be competing in a fishing competition but knows nothing about fly fishing, Henry is all too happy to be her teacher, and enjoy her company.

I really loved Goldy's story. I understand why it took her some time to step into her own power. I was very happy that she got her HEA without having to change who she is - a strong and passionate woman!

Next up in the series is Charm and Conquer featuring Clover and Asher. I'm already counting the days!!!

Goldy and Henry’s story is funny, quirky and entertaining. Though she seems to be tightly wound and rather distant, deep down Goldy is a warm-hearted woman who is hiding her true self from everyone, even her sisters. She has a secret, a secret that experience tells her will make a pariah in the small town of Catalpa Creek. Henry is a single father and a construction contractor. He is well known and well liked around town and Goldy finds herself very attracted to him. He offers to teach her how to fly fish for an upcoming competition that she is entering to help her friend. Resisting him is hard, next to impossible really, since he is funny, charming and beyond attractive. She tells herself not to get close, not to fall for him, because she knows he really won’t want her if her secret is revealed. Henry and his son Max are smitten by Goldy and both are hoping for so much more than friendship in the future. Henry is used to make judgements and decisions about things or people that affect his son and his well being. When Goldy’s secret is revealed, he does struggle with it, but Goldy leaves town before he even gets a chance to talk to her. Is a future together now impossible? How can they find their way through this turmoil?.

Goldenrod, or Goldie, has always been ashamed of herself from the time her daddy caught her kissing a boy behind the garden shed to her many failed relationships who claimed she was "too much". That's why she writes her spicy novels under a pen name, why she can't stay in this small town, and especially why she can't get involved with single father and town sweetheart Henry Cooper. She's so attracted to him but always seems to do the wrong thing around him.
Ever since Goldie came back to town, Henry's been trying to get her attention, but she doesn't give him the time of day. But a competition between Goldie and a cousin has him teaching them to fish. When Henry saves her life, she admits to liking him too much and it's game on...and Henry doesn't plan to catch and release. How can he convince her that she's his greatest catch?
I loved this sweet small town romance and even I fell in love with Henry. How could Goldie resist?! This is the first book I read by this author and I didn't realize it was the sequel. I might just have to go back and read the first one! The title of this book just caught me because I'm in love with a fisherman myself.

Goldy and Henry's Story . . .

Goldy and her sisters have to live in Catalpa Creek for a year as a requirement of their deceased father’s Will. Goldy has a problem integrating well with others. It’s just not comfortable for her. But when the preschool has a competition to raise money, Goldy will participate but needs some fly-fishing lessons so she can at least have a small chance to compete successfully.

Henry is a single dad to Max and is taking on the challenge of showing Goldy how to compete in the fly-fishing event. Despite their strong chemistry for each other and his flirting and teasing, she seems to be resisting him. Is there any way that Henry can persuade her to at least try a relationship with him?

Spenting time together their attraction is of the charts but she doesn't wants them to be couple . She has a secret she keeps from everyone . What will happen when everyone knows her secret ? Will she give herself a chance to real love and happiness ?.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Trope: Insta-love/ friends to lovers.
Part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone.
Spice:
Plot:
Goldenrod (Goldy) is one of the daughters of a deceased con artist whose will states his daughters must live together in a big house for 1 year to get their inheritance.

Goldy is flawed due to her father impressing on her that she is a loose woman; and when she returns to town and has Henry, a single father and local contractor pursue her in Insta- love fashion, she resists.

This author is new to be and I love the small town, quirky, strong female characters. All characters are well written, strong and flawed.

If your looking for romance, all you find here is a slow burn romance with plenty of sexual tension, sensuality, but heavily veiled, fade to black sex.

Oh Goldy…

Our poor FMC was so self deprecating it hurt. She had been traumatized by her narcissistic father and believed the worst in herself. There were many times her self hatred dragged in this story, and got to be frustrating and you feel like geez enough already, but thankfully she pulls through and gets her HEA. Something I do appreciate about this and the previous book is the author didn’t have the guys have crazy Ex girlfriends trying to sabotage the MMC and his new relationship. It is a breath of fresh air to see healthy and supportive ex gf who don’t get jealous or have nefarious motives. Thank you 🙏🏻

Cute romance

While Goofy (Goldenrod) wasn't one of my favorite characters initially. She came across as a bossy OCD control freeform the first book. You get to know how her father slur shamed her as a young teenager and she has distanced herself from relationships with everyone since. Henry is a divorced dad of 5 year old Max, who thrives on routine. But the two of them make a great couple. Though of fluorescent secret life as an author of erotica comes out. And while some in town gossip most women and their spouses applaud her healthy view of female sexuality. Of course a happy ending for Goofy and Henry.

General social relationship advice: 7 out of 10
Comedy: 8 out of 10
Fidelity to rules of "steamy romance" genre: 10 out of 10, which means:
Romantic relationship advice: 2 out of 10

Steamy romances are basically a male fantasy. In real life, True Love grows when people don't flop into bed right away but are interested enough in each other to keep on seeing each other. In steamy romances, they flop into bed and in some magical, mysterious way the sex act is better than it's ever been before, on the first try. Thptptptpt.

Apart from that, the story of how Goldenrod (Goldy) deals with her family and small-town social issues is funny, insightful, and well worth reading.

What a cute book! Goldy and her sisters are living in the small town of Catalpa Creek for a year as part of their late father's stipulations in his will. They decide to open a preschool in town. Goldy has difficulties interacting with others, but has a secret side to her.

Henry is a single father who is teaching Goldy how to fly fish for a competition to benefit the preschool Both of them are incredibly attracted to the other, but Goldy holds back. Can Henry convince her to give him a chance?.

Cast and Caught is book #2 in the Sanctuary series. Goldenrod (Goldy) Weston is a loner, brutally honest to the extreme, and secretly an erotic romance author. Henry Cooper is a single dad, town golden boy, and crazy about Goldy. This story was funny, heartwarming, and a slow burn to glorious spicy-ness! I love the author's detail of the characters, the farm, the town. I really feel like I know this place. The books in this series are binge reads for me. I couldn't stop reading once I started!.

Unexpected book but loved it!

This was a outstanding read! I wasn’t too sure what to think about an erotica writer. But let me assure you that there’s no really uncalled for or gratuitous scenes. I loved how the writer educated the reader about the difference between erotica and pornography. I also loved how the writer allowed women to express their sexuality without fear of reprisal. The sisters’ relationship is troubled, but I loved how they could be honest and worked through their issues with one another.

I’m going to read another book by this author!

Goldy and Henry are the perfect opposites-attract couple! Goldy is hiding a big secret from her family and town, while Henry is trying to live up to his boy-next-door personality. When they are together though their chemistry is off the charts! Katharine Sadler has done it again and written these two quirky characters that will make you feel for their story and hope that they get the HEA they deserve!.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this book between Henry and Goldy since we met them and they did not disappoint. Goldy is definitely a different character once you see things from her perspective than you originally think. She’s more than the rigid, unfeeling older sister that she seems to be at first glance. The way she sees herself breaks my heart, but I love when she finally realizes how others see her.

I have not yet read a Katharine Sadler book that I didn't love. And this one does not disappoint. Tons of hilarity with family drama sprinkled in. The book series centers on a loveable family of strong female heroines. Cast and Caught is Goldy and Henry's story. I enjoyed the corny jokes and banter between the two. At times their behavior was frustrating - but that is what keeps me turning the pages.

I really enjoyed this one. A nice, cute small town read. There's family drama, single parent struggles, trying to accept oneself, learning new skills.... There is a lot going on in this one, but it never feels rushed or as though more depth would have been nice. Quirky and witty at times. Great character building, I loved Goldy and her family, Henry and Max are also great. Good stuff.
