Let me first start by saying I was given a copy of this book by the author as an ARC reader and I loved it so much I bought it. First, I was so engrossed in the story I didn’t see the cliffhanger coming. Like, literally turned the page and saw the letter from the author and had to swipe back and forth between pages thinking I missed something and now I need part two.
Secondly, one thing I greatly appreciate about this book is the glossary. So many fantasy books have complex world building, multiple character POVs and it can be difficult to keep up. The glossary is amazing for characters and their backgrounds, the races, locations, religions, slang, etc. Amazing touch.
Third, let’s talk story. I mean no disrespect when I say this story feels like the Hobbit and the Underworld series had an illegitimate love child who grew up to be a Cursed King. You have so many elements of multiple races, including elves, dwarfs, vampires, werewolves, witches, etc.
The world building and magic systems are enjoyable and easy to follow, and while there is a lot going on from multiple POVs, this story doesn’t leave you with the mental burnout some fantasy series do from the sheer weight of the complexities of high stakes/epic fantasy series.
This book was definitely a break from my normal smut, but I greatly enjoyed it and have enjoyed being able to get introduced to a new author and hope to be able to ARC book 2 when it comes out in 2024!

This book was the perfect amount of spice and plot. I loved the relationships that formed between the characters. How the different relationships formed. I’ve not read too much Fantasy but this was a good one making me more interested in it. The paranormal aspect of the book kept me intrigued. loved Caleb I feel like I always route for the villain

This is writing at its best. I read the reviews before I started and was happy to see that the story flows from beginning to end just as the reviewers said. Honestly from the first page I was invested. You will love some characters and wish the worst possible torture to others. I do not understand why my very first book boyfriend is a homicidal maniac vampire assassin who does unspeakable things to his victims. I kept asking myself “what is wrong with you Tracy”. He is the worst of the worst. I loved him from the moment I met him. He does progress into a much darker character!!! The author and myself have a post about Caleb on TikTok. The main character is Nathan, The Cursed King. He is both vampire and werewolf. His mother was the werewolf. He has many enemies but I do not want to spoil the story so I won’t go into it. I have to also mention there is an in-depth glossary that will help you understand each character’s backstory. I gave this a five star review even from the middle of the story. I read it in less than two days. Just couldn’t put it down. And the ending is perfection, a cliffhanger like you have never read before. I will be the first to read book 2. Thank you Danielle for this wonderful world of vampires, werewolves, elves, dwarves, and witches. Definitely Lord of the Ring vibes and it reminded me of True Blood. Let’s talk about the spice - yes it is delicious. Sweet and sour. Caleb starts very sweet BUT wow does it go sour for the many victims. The assassin never misses. I had to stop and take a breath. Another author recommended this book and I am so grateful she did. Amazing.

I was not prepared for what was to follow when I received my ARC copy of Cursed King. The book was filled with action, enough suspense to kill a horse and a dynamic storyline that kept me intrigued from the beginning. The characters in Cursed King are well thought out and developed really well. The landscape is intricate and beautifully built with enough fairytale characters to sweeten the pot. Loved every minute of it and loved the characters and their journeys so much I was sad when I finished reading the last page of the book.

Really enjoyed this multiple POV fantasy romance!
Nathan is a hybrid king, the first in history! Emerald is his vassal and forbidden love. Samantha is his queen to be!
Erendriel is the elven king and Elaine his most powerful mage.
Caleb is a vampire assassin.
The plot that twists and turns around these characters was so engaging, I couldn’t put this book down! There’s so many things you don’t see coming!
It’s steamy and I loved it.
If you love your fantasy with vampires, fae and dragons then you’ll want to pick this one up and give it a read.
The first in an unfinished series it does end with a cliffhanger!
So many questions I need answered so I’m waiting ,impatiently I might add, for the next book so I can carry on this adventure!

I’m a fan of Vampire stories and this gave me what I wanted with a touch of spice.
I enjoyed the dynamics between the characters. The book has great character development and dialog that kept me hooked.
I loved Caleb as the morally grey character and can’t wait to see how he develops in the next novel. I’m a sucker for the villain.
I’ve not read too much Dark Fanatsy but this was a good intro to the subgenre. The paranormal aspect of the book kept me hooked.
The story follows the rise of the Cursed King Nathan and the chaos the world he runs is falling into. Caleb the assassin for hire never misses his mark. Samantha, born from a line of notable vampires is working her way through her motivations in the story.
I’ve not read a story with these types of mystical creatures, vampire part ware
wolf and even elves.

This was another fantastic spicy fantasy romance read by this author. I love how she has different characters as the focus on each of the different magical communities and finds different ways to bring them together. The way you get insight into each character so you empathize with each one no matter their morals takes a lot of talent. Caleb was one such character.
My favorite character was definitely Nate, the cursed king himself. Although, I feel like he still needs his chance to really shine and I can’t wait to see that day! Ironically I didn’t feel the same about his love interests.
The author did a fabulous job of weaving together the worlds and characters as she developed each one. She pulls you in and leaves you wanting more. Her character development and world building shine in this epic story. I truly can’t wait to see what happens next! I’m fully invested in Nate’s story.

Wow! Talk about a book that had me neglecting my household cleaning, laundry, and cooking!! My family ate sandwiches and quick throw-in-the-microwave-and-done meals! Haha!! When I wasn’t reading this book, I was thinking about it!
When Danielle offered me the ARC ebook copy I graciously accepted of course, but I did not foresee loving it this much! The world of vampires, werewolves, elves, dwarfs, orcs, and so on, is enough to keep the pages turning. There are characters I loved right from the start and then ones that I liked, then hated. And there were the ones I hated then began to swoon over (cough cough Caleb😍).
This book has the perfect balance of dark romance and fantasy. Perfection!! The only problem was that I had no idea it was the first book in a duet and I couldn’t believe the way it ended! I was like “wait…..what?!?” I thought maybe I had teleported into tomorrow and missed a few chapters!🤣 THEN I began to read “A Word From the Author” and it made me curse out loud 🤣🤣
I love how Danielle had the glossary at the end! It helped with an already amazing visual I had of the characters and places! Great job, Danielle!!👏🏻👏🏻 Now……..WHEN can I finish this story???

I had the honor to be an ARC reader for this book! This is giving me LOTR vibes as it involves many different races including vampires, elves, humans and others. Just the right amount of spice and adventure! This is the first in a series and I cannot wait until the second book is released!! Will definitely be reading the other series too!! Such a great author!

🎼 The multiple voices in this book blend together like the instruments in an orchestra, the characters performing a complex ballet on this book’s stage. The first chapters are the overture where you learn the theme of each main character.
🌟In the first act, several plans are set im motion. At the Cursed vampire-werewolf hybrid King’s wedding, the first curtain falls with a crescendo.
🌟🌟The second act starts with the separate factions regrouping and recovering. Dark magic is discovered, hidden agendas and a web of deceptions are revealed. A Prophecy is the source of a horrible betrayal.

Danielle’s descriptive writing brings the world of the Cursed King, vividly to life!! Enveloping you and making you feel like you are a part of the story.
The King (Nathan) is a vampire/werewolf hybrid. Some love him. Some despise him. While others fear him and he is just trying to do right for his people. He decides to get married to help make his kingdom complete. But someone has other plans. There is an attack that takes place during the wedding, that makes Nathan question everything he thought he knew, as he goes into hiding. With a small group of individuals that Nathan trusts, he then sets out to find out who is responsible and why.
Caleb is not only a vampire, but an assassin for hire, with a track record that is spotless. However, after the events at the castle, he needs help from the mage to find his target. Just when Caleb thinks he may have lost any chance of finding his target, he is greeted by a goddess that presents him with an offer that could make him deadlier than he already is.
His morally grey character, kept me wanting to know as much as I could about him and he quickly became my favorite character! I cannot wait to see how Caleb’s story continues!!
Through out the whole story, there are many twists and turns, as well as bombshells that have me impatiently waiting for the next book in the series! Fans of Dark Fantasy will definitely enjoy this book.

Fun read
Danielle continues to wow. This was by far one of my favorites of hers (granted I haven't read them all)
Romance isn't typically my genre, and I'm picky about my vampire stories, but I adore what she does. very little spice, and what is there is short lived and tasteful. As a fade to black girly, i appreciate that. Plus, she never writes just vampire, or werewolf, she makes the world's rich. There's lots of plot to back up the romance.
The few 4 stars make valid points, too. Her writing always edges on the fun side for me, but I like to cry—so I'm a tough critic. They're quick and easy reads, with lots of descriptions on things like clothing and foods, and internal monolog that sometimes feels repetitive. There's a place for this stuff, though, and she does it very well. So take that into consideration if you care. But the 5 stars are also warranted. CURSED KING is *chefs kiss* from her.
Everyone seems to be excited about Caleb, but I'm here for the King. Part of the reason I shy away from romance is "falling for the villan". She does a great job writing an actual villan (multiple, in fact), and I ALWAYS show up for a respectful boi/goil. There wasn't enough "good" behind any of the villans to make me root for them.
Looking forward to book two to see if my opinion changes.

Dark fantasy has a new name: Caleb.
There's a lot to unpack in this wicked and page-turning tale. Deceit, love, curses, and secrets are just to name a few of my favorite elements in this story.
From powerful gods to self-discovery, Danielle takes us on a wild ride that leaves the reader with a number of questions and theories (this IS book 1 - it wouldn't be proper without a cliffhanger!!).
I found a deep sense of affection for our our main characters, but mostly Caleb. He is a character built off betrayal and loss; a character built to do life-changing things. His story is only hinted in this book and rightfully so - he's going to redefine what we deem good and evil.
This is a vast world of fantasy elements, like elves, dwarves, magic, vampires, and dragons. A story that blends paranormal and fantasy genres into a new thrilling tale that is bound to collect a new cult of readers.
I'm very much looking forward to the next book!

I found a deep sense of affection for our our main characters, but mostly Caleb. He is a character built off betrayal and loss; a character built to do life-changing things. His story is only hinted in this book and rightfully so - he's going to redefine what we deem good and evil.
This is a vast world of fantasy elements, like elves, dwarves, magic, vampires, and dragons. A story that blends paranormal and fantasy genres into a new thrilling tale that is bound to collect a new cult of readers.
I'm very much looking forward to the next book!

I received this Arc, and I read it all in three days. That's how good it was! I couldn't put the book down.
The steamy scenes are so hot! I absolutely love Caleb. He's my favorite character. The way he takes women is amazing. I think readers (especially women) will love him too.
I can't wait to discover what happened to dragons! And, of course, I'm very curious to know what will happen to the Cursed King. And this scene of betrayal? OMG, You'll need to read it! I hate this character!
This book is darker than ever but still kept the same vibe of the author's previous work. Be prepared to lose sleep and give up on adult responsibilities. This is the best of Danielle's books so far! Now... when can I get the next one?

I devoured this book! Such a rich fantasy world and you can feel this building into a fantastic series. Multiple POVs, intriguing characters. Spicy romance and tension. This story has it all.
One of my favorite quotes:

These few words sum up some of the delicious conflict in this book. And there is so much more to unpack with the fantasy elements, different types of paranormal creatures and motives of each character. Very well done and well written.

There’s something about a hybrid vampire werewolf that craves attention. The cursed king is an interesting character that will captivate readers from page one. Nathan’s humble beginnings made him tough, with powers that are unmatched. Nathan, Samantha, and Caleb are imaginative characters. Nathan was my favorite. I enjoyed the multiple POV and descriptive scenes. The story has many twists and turns as the world’s fate hangs in the balance. The cliffhanger will make you swoon for the next book.

I was honored to be chosen to be an ARC reader for this dark fantasy. This book is filled with secrets, curses, and shocking betrayals that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. The world and characters are well defined. I am not sure how many books are planned for this series, but I can tell it is going to be quite a journey. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

I was immediately pulled into this story. I found myself constantly wanting to know more as all the pieces were slowing being put together. Nathan is a hybrid (half-vampire, half-wolf) and cursed because of it.
The multiple POV make the story hard to put down, as you just want to know where Danielle is taking us in this fantasy world.
She wrote with such passion that the characters were relatable but you couldn't pick what they were going to do next.
Spoiler: This book leaves you jumping up and down and on a cliffhanger by the end.
Definite 5 star read, cannot wait for book two

This was a fun read! I am excited to read more about the assassin! I love the multi POV and finding out how each character was connected one way or another! I will definitely be reading book 2!

This dark fantasy begins with a conflict between the worlds that have been living peacefully under the king's reign. The story is filled with escapes, secrets, lies, and some very steamy scenes of vampires and vassals. Get ready for a roller coaster ride, and just when it reaches the top, and you have a tiny peek of what might be coming... it fades to black. The cliffhanger definitely leaves you wanting more.

This book drew me in immediately. This was wonderfully written and had a great storyline. The characters are all written so well, and I felt so many different emotions as the story progressed.
I wanted to do nothing but read this book until I finished it and every time I had to put it down to do anything else I got so irritated.
I highly recommend this, and thank to the cliffhanger at the end, I can't wait for the next book.

I was sucked in from the very beginning of this book. I enjoyed that each chapter was a different character so we got each of their pov. Cursed king was beautifully written and had a great storyline and plot. This was the perfect blend of paranormal and dark fantasy romance full of action and twists. Theresa ending though leaves you with so many questions and I can't wait to read the next one to see what happens.

🖤Wow, this book was fabulous. The incredible world we find ourselves in is full of turmoil and we buckle up immediately for a very bumpy ride. We meet so many interesting characters right away at the council meeting and get a glimpse of all the complex layers we are going to uncover.
🗡️Nathan, our magnificent vampire/werewolf king while very powerful, is struggling internally with a menacing prophecy, managing his emerging powers and trying to appease the many representatives below him. He is also tasked with keeping the people of his kingdom happy. He is longing for a prosperous future with his soon to be wife Samatha and vassal Emerald. Lies, betrayal and out right backstabbing create an intense amount of anxiety throughout this book and we are left not knowing who to trust or what shocking twist will unravel next. There is a continuous feeling of impending doom, and it is impossible to foresee the wickedness that emerges. I absolutely adore the multi POV, and it adds an acute layer of mystery and intrigue to the story.
🖤My personal favorite character in this book is Caleb, a vampire for hire/assassin . Oh me oh my do I have a weakness for a beautifully morally dark grey “good” villain and boy does he fit the bill. Reading from his point of view, and being in his mind, hearing his naughty and wicked inner thoughts is delightful. I need so much more of him. He is bad in all the best ways. There is definitely going to be more to his story. I feel there is more than meets the eye with his past full of betrayals and loss, he has much yet to do with his life. I cannot wait to see what he does with his new earned powers.
