This is book three in the Dalton Savage series, each one as riveting as the last. Dalton Savage had no desire to leave his partner and baby son in La Plata County where he was sheriff and return to Denver where he had once been a homicide detective. A plea from a prisoner serving life in the State Penitentiary, a prisoner who Dalton had previous dealings with, a prisoner who's case gave Dalton nightmares......Dalton had to go. A young kid had been murdered in a drive by shooting and the Denver police weren't doing anything, Dewayne Simmas pleaded with Dalton to find his brother's murderer. This story follows Dalton as he treads on the toes of his former boss at the Denver PD, he is tenacious in his search for the truth even if it is out of his area, he has the help from the most unusual places, Burner, a tattooed, Harley driving lawyer and Zeb an ex cop and his motor cycle gang. Dalton shakes Denver until the PD and everything else rattles, this story has so many roads leading to so many dead ends, whoever was behind these murders was clever, no leads led back to him, he was squeaky clean but he was ruthless. This is an action packed, nail biting thriller, so many suspects, so many surprises. Who was feeding the perpetrator information ? who were his friends in high places? I really couldn't put this book down and I can't wait for the next one. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
Exhilarating Story! Another masterpiece from Biba and so good! This Dalton Savage thriller just gets better and better, this being book 3 in the series. But this can be read as a one off but I highly recommend you read the first two as well as they are all so good. Savage past catches up on him with convicted killer Dewayne Simmons asking his help after his younger brother is murdered. Savage returns to his old Denver Homicide Division where he worked for ten years and left because of his ex boss Hagan and an old case where he had shot and killed in self defence an armed robber. There are also now doubts with the person who he had put away for murder six years ago being Dewayne Simmons and as the investigation gains momentum so do his doubts. Things turn for the worse when the case turns to a local businessman called Hollander who it seems is above the law and has someone in the police protecting him and his business. Some old friends, colleagues and previous acquaintances all turn to help or maybe hinder his investigation an all add to the final finale. Because of Savage, events quickly turn for the worse with his family, friends and his team all and those around or close to him in jeopardy that turns this read into a real page turner and tight throat with plenty of twists and turns that you don’t see coming and won’t let you put the book down. Beautifully written and so well thought through and a ending that makes you smile and “Shout, YES!”
The Dalton Savage series is interesting to me. I started out of order and haven't read Hatch yet. I read all of the Noble/Logan books first and gained an appreciation for LTR.
This is a good series so far, but I wish more realism would have been injected into the setting and nuances. I work in Colorado in the LE business and more thought should have been put into using the right terminology for the counties and agencies.
There is no mention of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and instead the Colorado State Patrol is used as the generic state police, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Just a bit more research and effort into accuracy there would have made this series so much better. Colorado is notoriously against having any kind of state police. The Colorado State Patrol are traffic officers. They don't investigate murders. The CBI is who should be coming to bail out Savage's department.
It's also messy with "Hawks Landing" being referred to as a Sheriffs Office when La Plata County is mentioned and Durango PD is referred to as a Sheriff. Very confusing and annoying.
The Best Dalton Savage Crime story yet by L.T. Ryan and Biba Pearce! This series, in my opinion, is the best of crime stories and could not have been written better. The interlocking of several characters showing up in more than one crime and in more than one book is so believable, each book could certainly be a true story. It's such a nail-biter I couldn't take my eyes off the pages, nor put the book down. I'm glad I was able to read the first two books in this Dalton Savage series, as they familiarize past characters who play important parts in this book 3. These books just seem to keep getting better, although I cannot imagine reading a better crime story than what this series has already held. I'm looking forward to book 4, The Frost Killer, and I'm happy to be an ARC for Biba Pearce, so kudos to both authors! This is definitely my honest opinion - 5 stars
Cold Sky is the third novel in the Dalton Savage series. This installment sees Dalton return to Denver after he receives a very unexpected phone call from Dewayne Simmons, a young man who he helped arrest years ago while he was a homicide detective. While back in Denver, he revisits his old partner in the homicide division, and explains he's there to look into the murder of a young man who just happens to be the younger brother of the guy he sent away years ago. Digging into the murder brings up a connection to Guy Hollander, who Savage knows was behind the recent drug turf war in Hawk's Landing. The investigation becomes even more complicated when it's revealed critical evidence in the Simmons case was ignored and could have changed the entire outcome. Another fast-paced, thrilling outing.
Cold Sky is the third novel in the Dalton Savage series by LT Ryan and Biba Pearce. This is the first novel that I have read by this duo. What a great ride. Their writing is excellent! The plot line well defined. In addition, their characters and well developed and strong. Sheriff Savage returns to the city of Denver where is once served as a homicide detective. He hears of teenage boy’s murder in Denver. He has special insight into the killer. The killer's identity is still not known but Savage feels duty-bound to investigate. The killer knows Savage is back, and sets him as his next target. A great read. You will not be disappointed. I received this novel from BookFunnel. This is my true and honest opinion.
I honestly like all of Mr Ryan’s work. I think I’m just a little bit prejudiced against Dalton Savage. I have read nearly all, actually, maybe ALL of Ryan’s books and I love the rest of them. I’m a western slope person and love the mountains that I live in. They are so different from the eastern slope of Colorado, where Denver is and maybe that’s why I’m not crazy about Savage and Denver. Mr Savage is a fairly new character in Ryan’s books and maybe it’s because I feel that I know his other characters better. This book is certainly the usual twisty turny mystery that Mr Ryan is known for. It’s definitely one that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It may be exactly the kind of mystery for you!
An inmate in a Colorado penitentiary for murder, calls Sheriff Dalton Savage and asks him to look into the murder of his teenage brother in Denver. Dalton was the one who arrested the older brother. Dalton agrees and drives to Denver to start poking around. He soon figures out that things are not as they should be and opens up a can of worms with the Denver PD. This is an action packed and heart pounding mystery that you will NOT be able to put down. The twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat ! With an awesome cast of characters, non stop intrigue\mystery/action and a dynamite story line you will definitely lose sleep !
Cold Sky, the third book in the Dalton Savage series is my first read in the series. I will definitely be going back to read the first two books and will be keeping an eye out for any more. Having mentioned the series, I am happy to say this could also be a stand-alone read. The characters and plot are so well developed that the reader can easily remember who is who and what is what. The investigation is interesting, believable, and, toward the culmination tension filled. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and recommend it.
My copy is an ARC. My review has not been influenced by the fact that the book was free.
Dalton Savage receives a collect phone call from an inmate, Dewayne Simmons, that he helped to put behind bars six years ago. The inmate asks him to come to Denver to find his younger brother's killer. Savage goes to Denver and finds confusion and cover ups. L.T. Ryan and Biba Pearce write this story with intrigue and finesse leading the reader in many directions. So many questions and surprises along the way. Who killed Kenan, the younger brother? Was Dewayne framed? Read this compelling book and find out the answers! Happy reading! 😊
L. T. Ryan is always good for a fast-paced, enjoyable thriller, such as his “Cold Sky.” After years as a homicide detective in Denver, Dalton Savage is now Sheriff in a small Colorado county south of Denver, but in this story one of his old cases, makes it necessary for him to return to his former city to find a killer. Every where he turns, he finds adversaries; both criminal, and with his old Denver homicide division. A word of warning: this is book 3 in the Dalton Savage Series. While one can follow the story, it helps to know the back story of the first two books of the series. (286 pages)
Sheriff Dalton Savage, former Denver detective, returns to his old precinct to solve the murder of a young man. He faces off with his former boss, as well as a wealthy man who's a darling of Denver politics and business and has other more nefarious connections.
He also finds himself entangled in a former murder case that put away the brother of the dead man that he always felt unsure of that conviction. Putting himself, family, and friends in danger, he is determined to solve the cases and find justice.
Recommended.

Savage is on paternity leave when he's called and asked to do a favor which leads him to Denver. He finds a murderer and the same person working for a crook and is hiding evidence and passing on information. The dirty cop is his old partner in homicide in Denver, Manning. Manning tries to kill Savage twice, then kidnaps Becca and Connor. Manning is killed in a shootout, Savage finds his family and later finds out the criminal was gunned down in the street. Great series.
A teenage boy is found murdered in a prestigious neighborhood. Why would he be there and who would want to kill him? Dalton Savage is requested by the boy's brother to find the killer. As Savage is getting closer to finding the killer, someone is out to kill him. A mind-blowing thriller with nail biting suspense describing Savage's tenacity and the danger he faces.
This series just keeps getting better. I had a hard time putting this one down.
Dalton is asked to look into the murder of the brother of a man he put in jail back when he was a detective in Denver. Going back to Denver brings back memories, opens old wounds and seems to bring more questions than answers.
There are many twists and turns. An action packed adventure that will keep you turning the pages well past your bedtime.
This was an excellent Walton Savage chapter. Having felt guilty about Dewayne conviction went back to try to gallon at it. Unfortunately he found out that Manning was working for Hollander. Once he found evidence Manning kidnapped Becca and Connor. Then sets Savage home on fire. So everything broke loose. Another great chapter. Hollander got his just reward. 10 stars plus!!!!! Thanks, Carl Clause
Cold Sky by Biba Pearce is book 3 in the Dalton Savage series. When Dalton was a detective in Denver, a teenager is convicted for the murder of a woman. He has always said he didn’t do it. Savage had his doubts too. 6 years later, the teenager’s younger brother is murdered. Savage feels he should help investigate as the police in Denver are not doing anything. While there, he learns something that shocks him to the core. Some of the characters from earlier books reappear and they play great parts. Burner, the lawyer, is a terrific character and I wouldn’t be surprised is he comes back in future books. And then there is Zeb, an ex-copper and part of the local motorcycle gang. He plays quite a part too, particularly towards the end, when things may go pear-shaped. A great read, great series and great characters.
Savage is contacted by a prisoner he jailed years before, to look into the prisoner’s brother’s killing. Savage feels guilty that he didn’t do enough detailed work to absolutely propose the prisoner deserved the life sentence for a killing. Savage agrees to return to Denver to see if he can solve the murder. He finds himself in the crosshairs of someone trying to stop his investigation. ENJOY!
Compulsive and gripping! Suspenseful, addictive and complex! A very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters. The suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds. Will keep you swiping the pages furiously. Worthy of your TBR list.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book from in order to read and provide a voluntary and honest review, should I choose to do so.
...MUCH better. Not normally the best way to start a glowing review, but the last one really did seem like it was just phoned in. THIS book- Cold Sky - was a really good read. Definitely up to the standards LT Ryan has set in the past.
Bigger than life, this story captures the grit and determination Dalton has for the past as well as the present. When he zeroes in, you better march the other way. Fabulous characters, equally fabulous story. Highly Recommended.
Dalton is enjoying getting to know his new son when a man he helped incarcerate 6 years ago calls and asks for his help. Dalton makes a difficult decision and is off to Denver. Of course things get messy very quickly. I was surprised by the ending!
I absolutely love this series. This book moved along. I couldn't put the book down until I finished it. Once again I thought I had it figured out. Nope. Looking forward to the next installment.
I've have to say that though I read the 3 books in two days, I didn't feel the connection as much as I felt for all the other main characters. And as far as I am aware I now have read all L.T. Ryan books. I enjoyed it, but not as much as all the others.
This was a page turner and one I could not put down! I hope Bob did it! I was sad when Rachel and Dalton went their separate ways…but glad things are working out for one of them. Please keep writing!
As ever, another really well thought out plot and character's that improve with each book. These books would make a super T.Y. series, as you read, you can almost see the event unfold in your minds eye.
I think this is the best so far!! And cuddos (sp) to the Crimson Angels!! I had a hard time putting this down. Awesome LT Ryan!! Waiting for the next one! Dalton Savage rocks!!
I loved taking a trip away from Hawks Landing. A lot of the main characters there are nice but boring. Including Becca, who's still too perfect. I'm hoping the seeds of a breakup are being planted just in time for Hatch to come back to town! :)
I enjoyed this story. It took a Dalton out of town but still had some Hawks Landing contacts. A good storyline is developing with Dalton's family and the Sheriff's Office.
I hope to read more in this series. Good job LT, thanks for the entertainment.
