Born to Die #3

Vicious Heart

Rate this book
Just when you think things will settle down and you can finally relax with your three deliciously sinful boyfriends… life proves you wrong.

I thought I saved the day. I thought the big bad was defeated. I was wrong. The big bad wasn’t really the big bad—someone was helping the serial killer from day one, pushing him after me while he sat back and watched.

He calls himself the prophet, but I call him mad. He sends out broadcasts to entice others just like him to join his little gang.

He wants to retake the city from us—from the Lucianos, from Newton, and all the men like him. And from me.

But we’re not going to let that happen.

It’s war now, and after nearly dying the last time, I won’t sit back and wait until he comes for me. No. I’m gonna meet that b*tch head-on and show him just how vicious my heart can really be.

I caught myself a serial killer, and now I’m gonna catch myself a Mad Prophet.

One, two,
I’m coming for you.
Three, four,
you’ll never say a word more.
Five, six…
Ah, f*ck it. Nothing rhymes with six.

Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.

Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!

If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.

Happy reading!

3.5 Stars (Mostly because this requires use of brain cells which I lack)
Personally I’m not someone who has a great memory at all. By this third book in the series it’s become blatantly clear to me that not having the Death So Sweet series fresh in my mind does not work. Characters fall flat as do plot lines because I just don’t have memories or connections to characters as I would if I had jumped in here right after reading those. It also seems this series is not the end for Lola and Lola will not only be back but teaming up with (maybe Stella-from Cruel Black Hearts series) to take on the final remaining enemy. It’s kinda frustrating leaving things so up in the air and having the same storylines dragged on for so long. I struggled with staying focused on this one mostly because of that wide disconnect. I’d love to read whatever’s next but honestly I’d have to start alllllllllll the way at the beginning and read all the series in a row and dammit I just don’t know if I’ll want to do that all over again even loving these crazy bitches as I do.

This was a good ending to the series, but I was expecting to find out who the Mad Prophet actually was. I do NOT believe that Harold was it after that epilogue. Whoever it is it seems like they got Mina. It definitely does make me want to read the other series. We will see.

An okay conclusion

This book entails looking for the Mad Prophet. He is inciting people to make change and pretty much just gaining fellow murderer friends. The ending is a cliffhanger since while one villain is resolved there is another waiting behind him.

It was cool for Mike to get a POV chapter. Although him undercover doesn’t make sense due to his size and build, so that plan was bound to fail 🤷🏽‍♀️

I was really disappointed with the intimate scenes. For being book 6 in a harem there is very little group activity, no back door action, and positions are just on repeat. We get some bloody play but that’s been done with Stella and Lincoln so even that scene wasn’t that satisfying.

Apparently there will be a new book/duet/trilogy ?? With the two psycho leading ladies and they’ll have to work together. After reading Exhibition I thought that’s what this trilogy would be about, with Lola and her crew with Stella and her crew. Wish CW had just gotten into that as opposed to giving us another similar trilogy for Lola and her guys.

I feel like this was a little bit of a miss for me, but I think because I felt like we were going to have a conclusion to the series, but then it is now tied to another series (from what I read online, and therefore if I had of read that it probably would have been a more exciting ending).

I was shocked by some things, Mina, the drunk guy. I assumed the guyand girl at the end were Mina and the remaining guy from the house she killed all the housemates in. But then the author's note afterwards made me unsure.

Anyway, I will have to read the other series.

Unhinged. Violent. Absolutely feral.

She really thought the nightmare was over. Serial killer caught. Three sinful men at her side. City under control.

Wrong.

Because the real villain? He was watching the whole time. The “Prophet.” A delusional puppet master hiding behind broadcasts and bloodshed, thinking he can take the city back from the Lucianos, from Newton… from her.

Sir. You picked the wrong woman.

This isn’t survival anymore. It’s war. And she’s not waiting to be hunted again—she’s hunting first.

I NEED MORE LOLA!!!

Glad I read this series, but i wont be re-reading it. The previous series was ten times better, and will be re-read again and again. This was still a decent series. This book tied up almost all of the loose ends, and the plot was fairly decent. The characters were still likeable and the MC is great. Must say though, I found the twists somewhat disappointing.

Absolutely loved Lola in this one! I'm just confused about her intentions with other characters, and the general direction of some things. Candace's writing is excellent and I love reading more about Lola and her adventures! That ending though!

The Bloody Queen

Great continuation of what has been going on since the Death So Sweet series! Interesting plot twists that I did not even imagine! I can’t wait to see what else happens in Lola’s world!

HMM

It is a ending but you do not get the ending you expect. Got some fore shadowing and speculative lines.

Great series in the dark genre with intriguing characters, strong emotion, tons of extra steamy sex, bloodlust, and page-turning drama.

Fantastic ending

After getting rid of Tony Lola and the guys realise he was only a pawn and the ringleader is still out there. When he makes himself known they work together to take him down hoping the city will now be back to normal . Oh but that ending I’m so excited for the next books Lola and Stella maybe ?

Brilliant read.
You would think Lola being the Night slayer and also taking her new role as the bloody queen, that she would be the most vicious thing about. But you would be wrong. She is haunted by the mad prophet and he just seems to be getting in her way. Lola has to heal but to do that she needs rest but she aint getting none of that not with her men or this new lunatic in play.
Brilliant read. can't wait for the next.
