The small town of Gunnindi in NSW's bush had always been home for Alice Croydon. Her loving family always surrounded her, and that included her eighty year old Gran and Grandad. But when her Gran decided to change the direction of her life, it gave Alice pause for thought. Alice's life was happy in that she would soon marry her childhood sweetheart, Finn, but the niggle of the urge to design was always there and her dreams of fulfilling her desire seemed to be pushed aside. When she was approached by a fashion designer from London, praising her work and offering her an opportunity to learn her craft, Alice was torn.

London was an eye-opener for Alice but she wondered if she'd done the wrong thing. At least the amount of work she did stopped her homesickness for a time. Once her twelve month contract was over, would she return to Australia and Gunnindi, and her family?

Time After Time is another exceptional read by Aussie author Karly Lane, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are well written, with Alice's family a wonderful group of people, fully supportive. I always love Ms Lane's books, and this one was no exception. Highly recommended.

With thanks to Allen & Unwin AU for my ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

There is nothing like a trip to the country with Karly Lane and new characters to meet, this time we are in the small town at Gunnindi and meeting Alice Croydon and her family and what a fabulous trip it was, one that is not to be missed.

Alice is living the life engaged to her high school sweetheart, Finn she comes from a big loving family she is happily working in the clothing boutique in town and designing her wedding dress and dresses for family but when her dear Gran makes a big announcement this starts Alice thinking about her career the one she has dreamed of forever to be a fashion designer but will it ever happen in Gunnindi.

A knock on the door one day brings her an offer that will change her life, could she up and move to London, leave Finn and her family and spend one year learning all there is to know about fashion design and make her dream come true, is it time to really go where her heart yearns to be, yes it is time one year and she will be back or will she?

Alice is loving the work and the things she is learning but she is so homesick so it is best is to throw herself into her work and soon one year has turned into many years and her career is flying high as is her life but suddenly things change again and Alice finds herself wanting to go home and once there she has a lot of things to think about her future now, can she continue to design like her heart wants, will she find love and contentment and the happiness she deserves?

I loved this one so much, so many emotions so many fabulous characters and so many smiles with this wonderful family, this is one that I highly recommend you can never go wrong with a Karly Lane story, they will make you feel so much a part of the story with her beautiful words.

My thanks to Allen & Unwin for my copy to read and review.

Introducing heroine Alice Croydon, Time After Time follows this woman’s heartful journey from the country to the city. Alice is surrounded by a beautiful and supportive family, who all adore her fiancé. Together these high school sweethearts have built a happy life for themselves in their quaint little home town. However, in the back of Alice’s mind is her desire to become a fashion designer, a dream that seems almost impossible given her current circumstances. But Alice’s life changes irrevocably when she is offered an opportunity of a lifetime, a position she cannot turn down. Alice has to trade her country boots for high heels as she forges ahead in her career dreams in the big smoke. London is Alice’s new base and it is completely different to her rural community home. With Finn still lingering in the back of her mind, Alice must decide if she is a country girl at heart, or a London designer. What life will Alice choose?

Karly Lane is an author who should be incredibly proud of her twenty one book strong body of work. I have read most of these books and I’m always happy to endorse Karly Lane’s work. Time After Time is the latest release from the bestselling author and it’s another warmly told read from one of my favourite writers.

Alice Croydon was a relatable and likeable lead. It’s rare that I don’t love Lane’s characters and Alice proved to be one of my favourite prime protagonists. I think the personal crossroads story that involves Alice trying to reconcile her content country life with her career offer was the reason why I clicked with this main protagonist. Alice’s mixed feelings and emotions are depicted well on the pages of Time After Time. I liked how Lane was able to show the two different and contrasted pathways Alice has to negotiate as the story unravels. The outer cast that fill the pages of this novel are just as appealing. Finn is a hardworking a genuine fellow. I admired his work ethic and country spirit. The colleagues in Alice’s London workplace proved to be a very lively collective and their interactions with Alice offer plenty to the story at hand. While my final mention must be made to Alice’s beautiful family, especially her grandmother. I have noted that other readers of this novel admired Alice’s grandmother and relationship too. I felt much the same!

Karly Lane is undoubtedly an enthusiastic advocate for country Australia. Lane uses her stories as a way to highlight current issues faced by rural communities in our country. Time After Time is used as engaging platform to place the spotlight on pressing ideas related to climate change, drought, rainfall, farming practices, staffing levels in rural towns, local industry and protection of regional areas. These are all pertinent issues, which run alongside the overall theme of following your heart and calling in life. Alice’s journey reiterates just how emotionally taxing it can be to branch out of your comfort zone, supress the loneliness and follow your dreams somewhere new.

With a stunning second chance love story, a picturesque country backdrop, pressing rural community themes and characters that grow on you as the narrative unwinds, Time After Time is definitely a book I would recommend.

Time After Time by Karly Lane
The book title automatically makes me think of 80’s music icon Cyndi Lauper, what about you?

I absolutely adore Karly’s books, they always sweep me away into another world and never disappoint. Time After Time is part rural romance and it’s also is set in the busy fashion world of London, which was very exciting. It’s a story of second chances, fashion, romance and family. The rural part of the story is set in the town of Gunnindi, Australia.

Alice Croydon is engaged to marry her high school sweetheart Finn who is a farmer. She has always wanted to pursue a career in fashion design. An unexpected opportunity gives Alice the hardest decision of her life, does she go to the UK to work in London or stay with her adored family and the man she’s loves?

This was a beautiful and heartwarming read that had so many facets, it was exceptional. Highly recommended read. This story will appeal to many readers, you’ll be at the end of the book before you know it, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's always such a pleasure to sit down with the latest book from a well loved author and Karly Lane didn't disappoint with Time After Time.

Alice Croydon has a knack for fashion design, but to follow this dream she must give up her dream of becoming Finn's wife. Finn doesn't believe there is any chance in a long distance romance.
Alice has the heartbreaking decision of following her dreams or her heart.

I loved Alice's large, noisy family. Her four siblings, parents and grandparents are all full of love and advice. However I didn't manage to get a solid connection with Alice and would have liked more detail and emotion.
The story jumps over a vast amount of time where there are a few major events in her life however we get no details, only passing mentions.

Even though part of the book is set in the London fashion industry, Karly still manages to impart her passion for the land and the struggles of farmers and small communities. It is this passion that has endeared many readers to her books.

Time After Time moves from a small country town in Australia to the red carpet of London and Karly Lane has woven a story of dreams, fashion, fame and second chances.

Thank you Allen & Unwin for sending us a copy to read and review.
Karly Lane’s books are always welcomed into our reading world and her latest novel is part rural part contemporary and a whole big lot of heart.
Be swept away to a small country town and the busy life of London as we are introduced to the charismatic Alice Croydon.
Alice has a great life with her fiancée Finn, her family is supportive and loving and she enjoys her days.
But there’s always been that feeling of her passion for fashion, a career she has always wanted to pursue.
When one day unexpectedly Alice is offered a chance of a lifetime, it takes her to the UK and leaving behind one love for another.
Can she survive the hustle and bustle of the fashion world or does destiny step in….
I’ve been a long admirer of Karly’s work and this inviting, romantic and touching story will give you an instant attraction.
It will warm the heart, abduct the soul and inspire the mind.
Offering much for the reader to fall in love with.
With a great mix of genres, a plot that’s down to earth, characters that feel real, settings of picturesque and a sentimental, passionate thread.
An heartfelt exploration of second chances, hope, love, family, decisions and following your dreams.
A wealth of the author’s trademark rural and community vibes with the addition of an active city and modern ambiance in part, a slight detour from the usual which I loved.
I can firmly recommend this tale to all readers.

This book was absolutely fantastic, I knew as soon as I started it that I was going to love it. It was one of those books that you read 50 pages without even realising and honestly the 400 pages flew in, I read it in a day and I swear the pages were pretty much turning themselves.

Who doesn’t love a book that is set in rural Australia? It has the cute little town, the lovely tight knit community and filled with wonderful families that live on each others doorsteps, it’s just great and I’m totally there for it.

When we start this book we meet Alice and her high school sweetheart Finn, Finn works on his family farm while Alice is crazy about designing clothes which as you can imagine isn’t a sought after career in a rural town. This means that Alice of course has to go further afield, which then takes us to London and what an adventure that turns out to be.

I really enjoyed the storyline of this book, I thought it did really well at tying up how living and growing up in a rural town was and then how different it was to suddenly find yourself across the world in a huge city. Alice definitely embraced the chance she had been given and ended up with some wonderful friends and a life she never imagined.

My favourite parts of this book were when Alice was with her family, I love love love family life like the Croydon’s, possibly because it’s so different to my family growing up but it just makes me smile. I absolutely adored her gran, she was a force to be reckoned with and the absolute salt of the earth. Everyone needs a gran like her and Alice was so lucky to have her as her champion.

Great setting in both Australia and London with brilliant characters in both places.

There is a reason why this author sells so many books and I can’t wait to read more of them.

This book was the ultimate of easy reading 🩷

Thank you to Allen & Unwin for for the gifted copy of this book, I appreciate it a lot.

When her 80 year old Gran shockingly announced that she was getting divorced, it was the wake-up call that Alice Croydon didn't know that she needed.

For far too long, Alice has been putting herself and her dreams on hold, in leiu of settling down with fiance Finn. Their future is all but mapped out, getting married, popping out kids, and working on the land. Whilst this may be well and good for the majority of the population of Gunnidi, Alice is seeking more.

An extremely talented fashion designer and seamstress, Alice has already thrown away the opportunity of a lifetime. But what will she do when the opportunity knocks for a second time? She'll have to leave her fiance, family, and roots behind in exchange for London life, where she'll learn from the very best in the trade. It's a huge decision to make, exchanging one life for another, unsure if her relationship will survive the long distance.

But as her beloved Gran has proven, all you need to do is take a leap of faith and let the universe take care of the rest....

Eventually, you'll be exactly where you're supposed to be.

It's been a fair while since I've read a Karly Lane novel. Time After Time was a great way to get back into the swing of things. Showcasing an Australian rural town in all its glory. Tick. A vivid look into the trials and tribulations of London's rich and famous. Tick. A strong female lead unashamedly kicking butt more and more as she grows confidence in herself. Tick, tick, TICK.

Gotta love the name drops that you sneakily snuck in, Karly.... especially the one and only Kylie Minogue!!

Also, how do I go about adopting Alice's Gran?

In Karly Lane’s latest rural romance novel, Alice Croydon is forced to choose between the love of her life and her life-long ambition in Time After Time.

When Alice is offered the opportunity to apprentice at a world renowned fashion label in London, her highschool sweetheart Finn issues her an ultimatum. Alice is torn, she loves Finn and her life in her small country hometown of Gunnindi, but, with the encouragement of her beloved Gran, chooses to go, planning to stay just a year, hoping that Finn will forgive her when she returns.

I can’t reveal what happens after Alice makes her choice without spoiling the story completely, but when Alice finally returns to Gunnindi she is not the same person she was when she left. I liked Alice and I enjoyed her journey, but to be honest the ‘second-chance romance’ reunion didn’t quite work for me personally.

Alice’s grandmother was probably my favourite character in Time After Time, I particularly admired the decision she made to be true to herself. I also liked Alice’s colleagues in London, and laughed at her interactions with the formidable seamstress, Marcella.

Though only about half the book is set in the fictional town of Gunnindi, Lane vividly evokes Australian rural communities, and gives due recognition to its challenges, especially for farmers. I really liked that Lane raises the issue of preserving and revitalising rural industry and it’s many benefits for regional areas.

Written with the warmth, humour and heart for which Lane’s rural romances are known, Time After Time is an engaging read.

I liked this but didnt love it, felt it was a bit slow to start but got there slowly. I did feel a little ripped off between part 2 and 3 as i felt like i missed out on too much. There are a few story lines i would have liked to see a bit more of though.

“Time After Time” is a thoroughly enjoyable read that I could not put down. For people like myself who love Karly’s books, you will not be disappointed! It is slightly different to her usual stories but I think it is one of her best - a definitive page turner that will leave you guessing in places! A story torn between love, career and family in two countries - will they come together and work?

Congratulations Karly - highly recommend

Alice Croydon has been going out with her fiance, Finn, since they were high school sweethearts. They have bought a house together.

Alice has always wanted to do fashion design after she finished her course, but the closest she has come is working in a clothes shop in her home town. Then out of the blue a fashion designer turns up at her door offering her a job in London, after someone had forwarded a photo of the wedding dress she designed for herself to the designer.

Her decision wasn't easy as she would have to put her wedding on hold until she returned. She hoped Finn would either go with her or wait for her. Things don't go well with Finn, so she decides to go anyway, hoping he will come to his senses. Unfortunately she finds out that he has married someone else.

So she too ends up staying in London and ends up marrying her boss. Things take an unexpected turn and she ends up home for a while in her home town where she bumps into Finn. He is divorced and has bought a farm of his own.

How will everything work out now she is back in Australia?

Another fantastic country romance with a page-turning story line.

This is 3rd book I’ve picked up by Karly and I came away slightly disappointed, this one felt a little disjointed and the story left me with too many unanswered questions and a few important situations/events just ended with no explanations or further in depth details, that I would have expected. The time jump from Part 2 to 3, being 10 years just seemed like a long time to give without a few more details.

There are still parts I loved, the family aspect and mainly that being Gran and the relationship especially with Alice - Karly definitely knows how to hit the heart with these types of characters and their special true to life relationships and also that of the community of rural towns and how they band together in times of tough events.

I listened to the entirety of this on Audio and it was a very easy one to get through and follow.

I read this book in a day, couldn’t put it down. I wanted to find a place to pause but I can sleep another time!
Love love love Alice’s journey. Her family are so supportive - especially love Gran and her intuitive personality. So great how true to herself Alice is in following her dreams and her heart. Her drive to find her way in the fashion world was amazing, like a fairytale too with romance thrown in … what a life!
When things take a different turn I was shocked. I felt so sad for her. Returning home to spend some quality time with her wonderful family was exactly what Alice needed to do, what a blessing that community are to their own. Such a great story.
Karly Lane you are one incredible writer, this one was a true winner I loved every word!

Karly Lane us one of my favourite authors and 'Time after Time would have to be up there as one of my favourite books of hers.
It is a beautiful read, I think because I live rurally I can relate to lots if aspects of this book, as it follows Alice making the tough decision of following her dreams or staying with her fiance as she can't have both.
We follow Alice through the highs and lows of the next ten years. I didn't think I was going to like the ending but it was crafted beautifully and was a perfect ending. I loved so many things about this book especially the dream of Alice's that took shape at the end.
Highly recommend.

Karly Lane is hands down one of my favourite authors and her latest novel, Time After Time, was such a joy to read.

She wrote this one with a wonderful mix of rural charm, hidden English castles that I have now added to my bucket list, and a story that spanned over a decade.

I couldn’t help but fall in love with Alice’s grandmother. What an amazing character I hope I can still achieve life changing things at 80.

You will absolutely adore the Croydon’s they are what I picture a small town, farm family to be, close, big, multigenerational.

Karly Lane’s novels always leave me feeling satisfied and looking forward to her next novel.

Another fantastic novel by Australian author Karly Lane. Alice is a country girl with a passion for design and shows great talent. Opportunity comes knocking, but it will mean walking away from her hometown and the man she loves. It's an age-old dilemma- love or dreams. Sometimes, they work side by side, and other times, they clash.

This story is full of passion - of both the romantic and career types. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and was drawn to Alice's character - she showed strength, resilience, and kindness throughout.

A pleasant tale of second chances, set in rural Australia & London. I felt a bit short-changed by the rapid transition between parts 2 & 3, as someone else has also noted. Also, I would have liked more about the renovation & re-development of the old mill, & all the related businesses - the sparking of new life in Gunnindi would have been worth pursuing in more depth. The characterisations, in general, were a bit superficial, & I never did feel the connection between Alice & Finn - Frankie was the more interesting person.

An easy-reading, entertaining tale.

I really enjoyed this book. Another success from Karly Lane. I loved how this book stepped away from the rural aspect of the novel and I was cheering the main character along the whole way. Not following your dreams and passions so that someone else can be happy is no real love story and I'm glad to have seen this play out in Time After Time. The storyline definitely wasn't tied up in a neat little package and I'm glad for it, it made the book interesting and kept me reading.

Another 5 Star ⭐️ story from Karly Lane. I still have a couple more of your books to read and then I have read them all. Loved the small country town vibes, the big bright city lights of London and then the return to country. I really enjoyed the part of the old mill being restored and helping a small town breath new life. A roller coaster journey through life for Alice and her family, but home is where the heart ❤️ lies.

Just finished reading Time after time by Karly Lane. I throughly enjoyed reading Alice Croydon a young woman with dreams of becoming a designer who is engaged to Finn her high school sweetheart. When an opportunity to pursue her dream in London sends their relationship on a different path. I didn't want this book to end. I also liked Alice's extended family as well. Karly Lane wrote this book really well read in three days didn't want to put it down.

A great book about pursuing your dreams. I loved Alice's character, she realised she had determination and passion to achieve her dream of becoming a fashion designer, even if it meant she had to leave everything she loved in Gunnindi after an unexpected knock at her door one day, made her think about what she wanted in life. She also followed her heart and allowed herself to have love as well. Thanks Karly, I enjoyed reading Time After Time.

Thank you Allen and Unwin Australia for sending me a copy of this book for review.

The theme in this book for me was should you follow your heart or your head? It has a timeline of 10 years ago and the present now.

To quote a line in this book "life has a way of screwing up even the best laid plans." I was double guessing as to whether Alice had made the right decision to move to London. Sometimes people just want the simple things in life.

I loved her family , they had me laughing at their get togethers. Karly's sense of humour shines through with the characters dialogue. It reminded me so much of my own family. I really connected to Alice and her Grandmother's relationship. I loved my grandma dearly and it reminded me of our relationship. I also loved how Karly incorporated the local industries into the storyline.

I truly enjoyed meeting Alice Croydon and her large, noisy, loving family. This is a story written with tenderness and insight. Mixed feelings about this book; 3.5 stars. Not really satisfied with the ending - as others have said, it went from part 2 to part 3 too quickly, and it felt like a reversion/ like our heroine was settling rather than the continuation of the character's growth journey.
