The Museum: Volume 1

Rate this book
Magic is real. People just don't like to talk about it. As far as most humans know, magic is confined only to the world of fairies, elves, and witches, but the staff at the museum know better. There is so much more. If you want to get away with robbery, use D.B. Cooper's parachute. The only drawback is that you'll disappear completely after using it. Need a protective shield, use a Romanov egg. These items and more are stored in the museum to be studied and protected until they are safe to share with the rest of the world, except... there are those who think we have the right to this kind of magic. Will Jamie Carter and her friends be able to protect the museum and the world in time?

Read the first chapter and couldn't read any further. The narrative was written like a school assignment. Lacked personality and the way the author strung her sentences together didn't feel natural. Needs more refinement.

Update: Just read the reviews. Makes sense now. The author used AI. No wonder why it felt like the story lacked personality.

Entertaining, though a bit disjoint because it was not written as a novel, originally, but as a web serial. Episodes were selected, leaving some gaps.

The general gist of the plot - agents collect, curate, and preserve artifacts with powers, sometimes world-threatening powers - is a familiar one to those of us familiar with Warehouse 13 or The Librarian video offerings. This book adds to it unrelated to mission complications, from political crap to soap opera level interpersonal relationships.

Plenty of loose ends for the next book or five to resolve.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series - it was a fun read! I listened to it as an audiobook and the narrator, Danni, did a great job! Looking forward to hearing the rest of series.

A pretty good story with crappy proofreading and editing. I was ready for some light reading, but this was ridiculous.

You'd think a book written with AI would have better grammar...

Vaguely interesting premise obliterated by boring writing and terrible editing.

Excellent!

I placed a couple of grammar and spelling notes.

This is now on my favorite books list. Many times, my thoughts were proven wrong. But not always. This was well written and keeps you buried in the story.
