While Henry Sachs lies in a hospital bed, dying from a mysterious illness, Perry must uncover the secrets of his father's past to try to save his life. Perry believes that Henry's condition stems from a time when he worked to investigate a secret underground base not built by the U.S. After a year of research yielded almost no information, a drastic decision was made: To prevent the base's unknown builders from ever returning, a dam was built, flooding the area. What holds Henry Sachs in its grip? Can Perry face his toughest excavation yet--and find out before it's too late?

This is one of my favorite books by this author. Alton Gansky has an amazing talent for grabbing hold of your mind and soul from the very beginning and hanging on to them until the very last. His books are not only good reads; they are GREAT reads that entertain but also teach you so much. I recommend his books to all of my friends.
Gansky is a great writer. In the beginning, I wasn't sure if this book was science fiction or a story about a conspiracy. There's a lot of suspense throughout as every chapter leaves you wanting to know what happens next.
This is the best one yet of the Perry Sach's books. I wish there were more of them. The mystery keeps you hooked all the way to the very end of the book. I enjoyed the camaraderie of Perry, Jack and Gleason in all 3 books. Especially Jack's sense of humor, even when he was about to get shot by one of the bad guys. Very intriguing storyline and I enjoy the way Alton Gansky ties Bible verses into making sense out of the impossible. Cindy Hunt
Alton Gansky writes Christian adventure novels, so you're either going to like it or not; he has a vivid imagination and in this novel (featuring Perry Sachs, the hero of two previous Gansky novels) he expertly combines a government conspiracy plot with the trappings of a supernatural thriller. There are demon-inhabited caves, an underwater base, and a toxic lake protected by soldiers. It's a decent read, and Gansky keeps the plot rolling along.
I had a hard time getting into the story, not very interested until about 1/3 of the way in. It's not too preachy, but even for 2005, the sexism is evident. They only sort of came to a conclusion about what was going on.
This was my first book by Gransky and I was pleasantly surprised. This was the third book in a series but it worked well on its own. The story is a mystery about a fatal disease that struck Perry´s dad and the only way to find a cure is to unravel what his father was doing 30 years earlier. Fast paced and interesting story. I will read more from him.
