This book was a huge disappointment as I was expecting to read of someone’s near death experience. Instead, this reads like an evangelical conversion message. I seriously doubt any of this is true. I have had my own NDE and it wasn’t like this “story” at all.

The author tells the entire story of Jesus by using angels in heaven to explain via “scenes” to infant spirits. Really???

Un libro perfecto para leer los días de Semana Santa. Describe con un lenguaje simple y comprensible como Jesús sufrió por los pecadores en la cruz, como él venció a la muerte y resucitó. También se habla del cielo de los niños. Es realmente un libro precioso.

Nine Days in Heaven by Dennis & Nolene Prince is the classic story of Marietta Davis' vision of Heaven updated with contemporary language for today's readers. In 1848 a twenty-five-year old woman named Marietta Davis lapsed into a coma or trance. Her family worried and prayed over her body for nine days, while doctors tried to determine the cause of her illness. When she awoke, Marietta spoke of a vision she had been given by God of Heaven and Hell for those here on earth, as well as for the woman herself. Her family had recently come to faith in the Lord, but she had had questions and doubts. Her journey erased those doubts for her, and she died seven months later in exactly the time and manner she had predicted after her trance. Her story was written down by John Loughran Scott and became well-known, but in time it lost its popularity because it was written in the flowery language of the day which by the twentieth century has become quite impenetrable. When the Princes lost two infants in less than seventeen months, a friend gave them a copy of the original book and it gave them great comfort. Dennis determined to update this powerful testimony for modern readers. This book is his labor of love. Marietta is whisked away first to the lower realms of Heaven, then down to Hell, then back up to Heaven where she witnesses how infants are raised in the Holy City. She is moved to tears several times by the depth of her own sinful nature, and she comes to understand the wisdom of God's decision to separate his children from those who refuse to follow him. Prince supports each chapter with several verses from Scripture giving added depth and meaning to Marietta's vision. The school for infants will offer comfort for anyone who has lost a child too soon. There is a great deal of wisdom here for readers who are familiar with the Bible and those not so familiar. Her description of Hell isn't that of pop culture with flames and demons with pitchforks; it is frighteningly believable and real. Pop culture's hell is easily parodied and ignored. Marietta's refuses to be denied and will create an indelible image in readers' minds. I would have liked to have read more about Heaven itself and less of the trial between Justine and Mercy, but I was still very moved by Marietta's vision. The Princes have given Christian readers a great gift in updating this classic for today's readers.

This was a reread for me and I still feel the same way I did the first time I read it. This is a testimony of heaven and hell and but mostly about redemption. Highly recommend for new Christians, parents who have lost a child and skeptics. Everything this woman saw in her visions is backed up by Scripture and gives me hope for my eternal future.

More dream than event

A disjointed summary of basic bible verse. Very uninspiring and poorly edited text. Had a hard time believing the reality of the story.

I felt like I was there.

This heaven experience has been the first one to touch my very core; the first to show us the actual teaching of the infants and children in heaven. I felt like I was there, learning with them.

How tragic it was to hear testimonials from people in hell, and to hear the hopelessness and agony in their words as they finally realized that Jesus was their only hope and they had dismissed Him. Those that called themselves Christian’s, and ended up in that terrible place, were the ones that tore my heart the most. How shocked they were to be in that vile place, instead of heaven. Perhaps this is a lesson for all of us who call ourselves Christians.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS!!!

I just happened across this book as a suggested read because I have read Imagine the GOD of Heaven ( a phenomenal book!!). And this one is no less amazing! The gifts GOD gives of us people who have NDE ( near death experiences) to give us a glimpse of Heaven, cannot be valued enough. For those who do not and will not believe because of choice ( and their non-sensical free will) the loss they will endure for eternity cannot be conveyed in words. God doesn’t force his will or love on anyone, it’s a free gift. If you choose to not accept that gift, he will honor your chose. So therefore GOD sends no one to hell, a person chooses it for themselves.

Just finished “Nine Days in Heaven” While trying to decide what to read next, I settled on this one because I thought it might help me feel more connected to Ruby, Jack, and my Daddy. It did. It’s presented as a “true story”, a 25 year old named Merietta slipped into a trance for 9 days in 1848 and this account is what she experienced during that time. The book included Bible verses throughout to support her account, however, a talented author could have taken these verses and written a fictional account connecting them. I don’t know that I 100% believe this is 100% fact, BUT I enjoyed the book and I feel that God put it in my path for a reason.

Glorious

Based on a true account of someone allowed to visit heaven and hell. Very Biblical with the revisions author noting the scriptural references after each chapter. It has cleared up for me that puzzling verse at the end of Revelation that states those that are evil, let them be evil still, also the good the same. It is because as they chose to live their lives in earth, will be what they continue in eternity!
Also, there is much information of how infants are brought to maturity in heaven. So beautiful. Good book!

This book is unlike any other I've read about near death experiences. It's not bad, but it reads more like an explanation of the Crucifixion than about Heaven The main part of the book is devoted to a description of baby angels being taught about Christ - something I would think they would kinda know since they're in Heaven. I don't doubt that something happened to the author, that her experience was real but I was disappointed that there was no real description of other parts of Heaven.

Marietta Davis was in a coma for 9 days in the mid 19th century. She was taken up to heaven and hell and shown around by an angel. Upon her return, she predicted the timing of her death which was accurate to the hour. She also wrote a book which has now been rewritten in modern English.

It was an amazing journey, with Jesus at the gate to welcome her. She also saw her loved ones and children who were nurtured. Only Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross can save us.

Inspiring Account of Life After Death

What a beautiful account Marietta shares of her visit to heaven. This book is full of light, love, hope, joy - all pointed at Jesus Christ and his redeeming act of love for all. I express my gratitude to Marietta for sharing her story 200 years ago. She the the Princes for updating the text to modern day language. What a priceless masterpiece ❤️

Foretaste And Revelation Of Heaven

This message gives us a peek into the mysteries of heaven. I was intrigued by the revelation that every creature in heaven and hell came to realize that God is good. People were not in hell because God was vindictive towards people who rejected Him. It was that people themselves chose a life path that avoided their only hope of salvation.

Compelling account of what heaven is

A beautiful read for what heaven is, told with such description, even though I already believe in heaven, this account makes it even more real. The words offer peace and the hope of heaven but also the reality of hell and our choice between the two. Also, the fact that this was written over 150 years ago is very intriguing, it's timeless.

Amazing true tales of heaven

Marietta was one of the first NDEs to tell and record her time in heaven. The truth of man's depravity and the destiny of children that did not last here on earth as well as what things were truly happening during Christ's Passion explained. It revealed more depth of what my salvation means and what awaits those who believe.

Exceptional!

Knowing this is a true story and written nearly 200 years ago before television, movies and social media, the preciseness and imagery with which it was written is enveloping and inspiring. The fact that Marietta went into her trance uninterested in Christianity or religion makes this book even more special. I recommend this book to all readers.

In humble reverance

Whether a true story or not, the visions of our Redeemer sacrificing His life so that we may live was heart wrenching and so beautiful at the same time. If this is even just a tiny glimpse of what heaven is like, it would be enough to turn even the most hardened hearts back to their Creator!

Not much in here really that is not already in the Bible. Sounds like a vivid wonderful dream; except, knowing the day and hour of your death is pretty intriguing.
