Holly Webb is one of Britain's best-loved children's writers. She has written over a hundred books for children, and her work has been translated into over thirty languages. Holly lives in Tilehurst, just outside of Reading, Berkshire, with her husband, three children and several cats.
I like how Polly and Rex have bonded a strong relationship so much that Rex is upset that polly has to go to school but getting confused that Polly was going to boarding school.
I like that Rex tells Polly about more of the dogs at Penhallow.
I also like that you get to find more about the Penhallows from Polly's mum, which links to the chinese porcelain dog in the red drawing room.
I like that Rex's statue looks like him but magness looks the same as Rex and the porcelain dog will look like it's statue. However finding about the porcelain dog Li Mai shows that she wasn't a dog but a statue statue a lion meaning she is a cat.
I liked it when Polly got to explore the garden and found the grave yard for dogs and this started the dogs talking and the story of the green lady.
I like because of the green lady's story they found out about Hans which makes them wonder how he disappeared which links to the smugglers and from the story they were able to find where the smugglers hide the goods.
As well as finding where the goods used to be stored they also found Hans. However the land fall had fell on to the statue of Hans but Li Mai made a plan to rebuild the statue which worked but now Polly has to figure away out to explain the second porcelain statue in the red drawing room.

The Lost Treasure continued the story of Polly and her adventures at Penhollows. Full of mystery and excitement, not to mention ghost dogs, young readers will enjoy this novel.
The title implies this might have a treasure hunt in it, but it doesn't. In fact there isn't any treasure at all, unless you count one dog finding her brother and the porcelain statue he inhabits. I guess that must be it, but some readers may be hoping for a little quest, and that doesn't particularly happen.
I wasn't a fan of how the dogs treat the new dog when she gets awakened. One of the dogs laughs at her saying, "She's a pussycat! A fluffy little pussycat!" She wasn't the easiest of characters to get along with, but it was a shame to see the characters treat her so.
I think this story has some content that won't be good for sensitive or young readers (see below).
CW: -The dogs talk about being able to rip someone's throat out to protect their owners. -There was also a bit of a horrid description of how a girl drowned that kids might find troubling. -Horrible illustration of a ghost chasing after Polly. I think some young or sensitive kids could be distressed by it. -Polly has this weird vision/flashback of someone else's memories and her eyes roll back into her head. -A story about a dog killed in a cave in. -references to someone drowning -ghosts
