Aren't Cancerians fed up with being the mothers of the universe? Don't Leos become weary of being told they're just funloving party animals? Does a girlor boyever get to flash their mean streak? Do they everin Darkside Zodiac, the book that exposes the hidden underside of the stars, and how they affect the dark side of everyone. Darkside Zodiac covers personalities, rising sign, ruling planet, Moon, qualities, and elements. It also details lifestyle choices (jobs, vacations, fashion, interior design, partners) all from a gripping, yet rarely discussed perspective.
This is the funniest zodiac book I've ever read. I wouldn't actually believe in any of this stuff if the parts about me and some of my friends weren't so freakishly accurate. At my worst, am I lazy, whiney, prone to depression, a procrastinator, and desperate to escape reality? You bet. Obviously, this is pseudo-science and not actually based on anything real, but it's entertaining and extremely hilarious.
This is a fun read, even if I'm just a cynical Capricorn who is probably too up tight to take this book's criticism of my star sign at face value.
It helps that I freely admit that most of it is true...at least for me.
Of course I would never judge someone based solely on their star sign! Heaven's no! Why, there's your star sign, rising sign, descending, moon, Mars, Venus, so on and so on.
It all combines to make each person a unique and a uniquely dark and terrible person!
It's extremely easy to read and divided into concise sections that help give you an idea of how each sign goes about things like career, love and what not. I especially like all of the parts that rip into the sign's main irritating habits and even their own personal deadly sin(s) and weak points in general.
At the end of each sign's portion of the book, the author was clever to add a few descriptions of historical figures that share the same zodiac and let's just say they aren't the kind of people you hear in anyone's "if you could dine with anybody in history" list.
Like, ya know, Hitler and such....
I give it 3 stars only because I wish it had more in it. Not necessarily more categories but I felt it could have been more elaborate and not so cryptic at the sake of making a joke. I'm really trying to learn stuff here, okay!?
I glance at this book every time I'm around the astrology section at Borders because it's such a cute book (the pages are rainbow colored.) I never got it because I don't know how to use astrology and I find most of the books in this subject to be too vague to be good reference material.
Recently, I got a birth chart from Terri Plewa (terriplewa.com) so I thought, what the hell? While I'm picking up the new selection of alarmist conspiracy theory literature I'll take the cute rainbow book with me.
The book is just as vague as the others of it's ilk but it is very much what it advertises; the darkside of the zodiac signs. It was much more fun to look you and your friends signs up when you get to see which crimes you are most likely to commit.
I went through (what I felt like at the time) a serious heartbreak. After 3 months of isolating in my room, I finally got out and about. This is the first thing that made me laugh.
Just like Sextrology: The Astrology of Sex and the Sexes, this book gets taken off the kitchen shelf a lot. I enjoy its deviation from the ordinary fluffy-lovey horoscopes, telling about all the nasty, backhanded, asshole traits of every sign of the zodiac.
SAY IT LOUD, I'M A GEMINI BITCH AND I'M PROUD
I first encountered this book through my friend Gandy--we were driving to Albuquerque and this book was in his truck. We all took turns reading about our signs (not the driver, he was not reading), and of course once I got home I got a used copy of my own.
Being intensely interested in the idea of Zodiac and having devoted a few years of study to it, After thumbing through this book, I bought it without hesitation. Filled with the darker pieces of the sun signs that most light sided astrologers try not to tell you. Being a Gemini, Hyde helps me see how hyperactive, razor tounged, and bitchy I really am. Loved this book and i still do.
It's definitely more of a coffee table book. It does provide amusing readings of all the negative traits in astrology, but it loses its charm rather quickly.
An absolutely hilarious read if you're into pop astrology and, of course, the 'dark side'. If you're looking for something a bit more accurate or in-depth, you probably shouldn't bother.
This is a really fun and shockingly accurate zodiac book that highlights the darker aspects of a sign. It is more on the side of mainstream astrology rather than natal chart (but there are some natal chart aspects to this book). It was really exciting to read and reread. If you love astrology you should get this book!
I found this book extremely interesting! I'm addicted to Astrology.. So finding a different perspective is pretty cool! I also enjoyed the humor & the way the author portrays their humor when talking about our dark sides! Me being Pisces and stating I'm an alcoholic is funny cause I became a wino awhile back.. Good thing I'm more on the bright side :) if you're into Astrology this book won't disappoint!
So funny! The author just rips on you and it can be so brutally accurate that you have to love it.
"...insulated in your space suit, you don't feel the consequences of your words or actions. You really are a chilly-hearted, disengaged observer of the human condition, who has never knowingly reacted spontaneously to any experience."
As astrology books go this one was just okay. it focused totally on the bad aspects of our signs. I just didn't find myself identifying or recognizing myself at all in my own sign. It wasn't that enlightening and that's why I read astrology books so it fell flat in that area.
I loved this book! It had truth and humor in it. I often refer back to it from time to time just to check on the darkside of my friends and family and it always is dead on and brings laughs. Highly recommended!
It's a beautifully designed book, but the content isn't great. I've come across better books on the subject and this one doesn't seem to add anything new, apart from great graphic design. If the subject interests you, I'd suggest having a look at "Born on a Rotten Day".
This book is hilarious!! Sarcastic and witty, it touches on the bad tendencies in all of us, down to what our toothpaste tubes look like. It's a great, lighthearted read for those who enjoy astrology.
Entertaining and humorous look at the zodiac. Probably would have liked it more when I was on my big astrology kick in high school and if it hadn't been forced on me.
I enjoyed this book immensely even though I'm on the fence with astrology and such. When I've shown it to friends (both believers and non-believers) they got quite a kick out of it.
