(Source: I received a digital copy of this book for free on a read-to-review basis. Thanks to Frank Rodgers, Hungry Horse, and NetGalley.)

My 4-year-olds opinion on this book – “This is the most awesomest book in the world, I could read it all day long!” (by which he means I want Mummy to read it to me all day long!)

My take –
This is a nice children’s story, about a little boy who can’t get to sleep so his mummy, daddy, granny, and grandpa all come into his room to tell him stories to help him get to sleep. My 4-year-old really liked this one, and keeps requesting it over and over again. He also now likes to use the phrase ‘I can’t get to sleep!’, he’s happy though.

Bedtime in our house is rough. I work part time as a cashier and am often not home till well after 10. Sometimes my son wont go to bed till I get home. This is despite the many efforts of my husband to get him to sleep. So when I saw this book on *Netgalley I thought it sounded cute and right away requested it.

The book tells the tale of a little boy who is having a hard time sleeping. One by one the members of his family come to try and help him. They tell him stories of things like pirates, bears, rhinos and elephants. But each story effects his dreams and he can't sleep. But all it takes is his bear to help him finally sleep.

This book was cute. I loved that in the end it was the bear that helped him sleep. My son has a bear that he has had since before he was born. He goes to bed every single night with it. It's his security blanket. The book definitely reminded my of my son with his constantly telling us that he can't sleep.

I loved the illustrations in the book. Soft colors perfect for bedtime reading. My son's favorite drawing was the very last one of the boy asleep with his bear. My son did really well with this one and seemed to enjoy it. He did ask about the use of the word "mum" instead of "mom" or "mama" or "mommy".

Both my son and I agree that this is 5 out of 5 stars.

*I received a free copy of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion
**This book was read with my special needs son who is severely learning disabled. The review reflects not only my opinion but his as well

Tom is experiencing insomnia. No matter what he is unable to settle down and fall fast asleep.

"Mum," he called. "I can't get to sleep."
His mom came in and smiled.

"Don't worry Tom," she said. "You will get to sleep.
You just need something nice to dream about.
Shall I tell you a story?"

And so begins the parade of family members, stories, storybook characters and antics that are bestowed upon poor sleepless Tom to help him succumb to unconsciousness.

Mum, Dad, Granny and Grandpa too all come and tell him a story, all hoping that their story will be the one to make Tom drift off into dreamland....but to no avail.

Finally Tom's favourite teddy bear approaches him,

"I can't get to sleep," said his bear.
Tom smiled, "You will when you have something
nice to dream about," he said. "I will tell you a story."

Was that the magic ingredient that both Tom and Teddy needed to finally curl up together and have a great night's sleep? This perfect bedtime story will bring calm, contentment and happiness as Tom's dilemma is finally solved and a peaceful sleep descends upon the cute little pair snuggled up with their eyes closed and gone......zzzzz!!

The illustrations are soft, dreamlike and match the narrative perfectly. I highly recommend this book.

Tom just can't get to sleep. Mum, Dad and even Grandma are brought in to tell stories to get him off to sleep, but every time, his dreams wake him up again... will he ever get to sleep?

Some lovely coloured line drawings of Tom, his toys, his dreams, make this a joyful story to share with children at bedtime. The story is okay, the repetition works as each time the dreams become too noisy. But as a parent, I got a little annoyed - seemed like Tom was making excuses to me!

Though I do like the character who is the hero from another by the same writer.

I really like the range of stories and dreams here, brilliant for engaging with different children. And also the idea of trying to get to sleep for extended periods, and using stories as well to do this - brilliant.

Overall it works well, my son enjoyed seeing Tom's dreams and talking about the themes in each.

We received this book via NetGalley to give an honest review.

This is a perfect bedtime book to read ,K enjoyed it and his favorite part was the end where the boy and bear fell asleep. He also said "see he can't go to sleep like me." You get four different stories told by Mom, Dad, Granny and Grandpa each one different and hopefully they help Tom get to sleep. Though with each story told it seems that the stories are more adventure and noise in them that it is still hard for him to get to sleep. Will he fall asleep or still be awake.
Cute book with cute pictures I plan on reading this to A tonight at bedtime and hopefully she enjoys it as much as K did.

Elephants, pirates, rabbits and bears; Mum, Dad, Granny and Grandpa tell various stories to help Tom sleep. The pictures in this book are lovely to talk about for each of the stories. Having four different bedtime stories read to Tom introduced variety and gives you plenty to expand on when trying to get your child to bed. Although only a short book you cram in lots of different themes making it good value for bedtime.

This sweet and quiet book would be perfect for cuddling and sharing with a young reader/listener. I do bedtime story times with students each year and this fits perfectly. The illustrations are lovely. I will be buying this for my elementary school library.

I'm not really sure why I cannot enjoy this book as I enjoy the other book by Frank Rodgers. It's not like the story was bad. Just..not as I expected?
