The horror of the night he failed to save his werewolf pack from the cruelty of their vampire masters has haunted Nicolae for one hundred years, driving him deep into the Canadian wilderness in search of peace. That peace is threatened when unfamiliar hunters and the scent of blood lead him to a beautiful woman and a hard decision—face his past and help her or risk losing everyone he cares about again.
Bearing a heart filled with grief and with vengeance on her mind, Tatyana is intent on killing the hunters she's tracking and returning to her vampire bloodline, but her plan didn't include being shot with poisoned arrows or rescued by a glowering alpha werewolf who stirs forbidden hunger in her.
When the hunters make their move, will Nicolae be able to stop them before it's too late? Will he be able to overcome the darkness in his heart and embrace his desire for a vampire? And can Tatyana face her fears and risk her life for the sake of forbidden love?

So firstly!! Cover love... I must say this cover drew me in. Nicolae on the front cover is one muscular, sexy werewolf ***swoon *** everything you see is what you get! They say don’t judge a book by its cover but this one is certainly no disappointment... Felicity never disappoints with her art work and cover love!! Story - Nicolae and his wolf pack are running through the wilderness, when he picks up a scent not far from hunters nearby. He stumbles across an injured beautiful woman unconscious and bleeding, his past tells him to kill her, but his gut tells him to save her - she is a vampire. Something he loathes and hates down to his core.
Nicolae's past has come back to haunt him, his lost his entire pack to a cavern of vampires- *The Tenabrae * a century ago. His pack and him tried to escape and in the process he lost everyone close to him. He was the Alpha and it was their job to protect him at all costs - which was their lives. This he will never forgive himself for. Nicolae was tortured, and kept as a slave that whole time then to escape and find his new found freedom in the mountains far away with no one.
Nicolae now runs with a local pack, he only interest in keeping to himself and living his own life. Nicolae is a strong, dominating character, suffering and leading a life hidden, damaged and withdrawn into only his own existence. Not letting anyone in, in sheer worry that some day he may also lose them to. His past constantly haunts him; he can never forgive himself for loosing everyone he cares about. so now he chooses to broad in the mountains and suffer in silence. Nicolae comes across as a strong character, capable of some kick arse stuff, but he is definitely a tortured soul in need of saving. Compassionate and caring, dam hot and sexy how can one man posses all these qualities you say!! Read the book and find out... You find yourself feeling drawn in by his sadness, but also at his boldness and caring character.
Nicole decides to take this injured woman home despite what his gut tells him. Tatyana finds she awakes, in a strange place, to be faced head on with Nicolae her first instincts to attack him - the vampire in her, she tastes his blood and realizes he is a werewolf and no match for her. Nicolae comes across cold and resentful full of hate and loathing and Tatyana tried to explain to him that things have changed, they have evolved.
In time Nicolae tells Tatyana of his past- her shock warms Nicolae's heart and slowly he lets her in. Tatyana informs Nicolae that her coven * Nocens* are not like that that, things have changed and evolved, they now work with werewolves in unison , in the best possible way in which the Law keepers allow them to.
Tatyana explains to Nicolae why she has come so far from home, Nicolae lets her in little bit by little bit, feeling her pain at the loss of a loved one as well. The more he finds out about Tatyana he starts to realize that things have changed. Tatyana’s character is kick arse, and strong, brave and vicious yet also has that depth to love, but was also able to display he weaknesses. She was one kick arse vampire !! I enjoyed watching the resolve between the two characters, them try to deny the feelings they have but even they both can feel it.
Hunters Moon has that perfect amount of equal balance between love- romance and suspense. A fluent storyline that keeps you intrigued throughout the whole read. Chapters followed smoothly, character development great ! Descriptions in the book you could envisage at times I felt I was there and able to feel the snow under my feet and the cool breeze in the air and even picture the cottage. The romance was sensual, and luscious and in the end magnetic and electifying. This I enjoy in a romance. I know I’m a romantic at heart, but this had that perfect amount of heat. * I once again have fallen in love * Nicolae comes across strong and evasive yet also able to let his resistance down. The characters were well described and new characters introduced. The constant battle between Nicolae and Tatyana was enjoyable they both wouldn’t let down their resistances, but in time they both opened up and accepted they both had strong feeling no matter how wrong it maybe. Dialogue felt natural enough and everything flowed smoothly and fluently almost like poetry. The ending was perfect; I was no left hanging and wandering mouth agape. I was content! More that I was star struck but Nicolaes strong sexy character. ** I know I have said this before ** Overall *Hunters Moon * was action packed full of romance, never a dull moment, providing the reader with everything you could want and more! Felicity never disappoints and I must say one thing that always captivates me is the in-depth details she provides in her work. The emotions are felt, described completely, the scenery, the appearances; it’s like living in the book whilst reading. ** mabye if I closed my eyes** Id be able to jump into my other world !!!

Hunter's Moon is a wonderful paranormal romance story of two souls that have suffered much heartache and loss in their lives who discover each other. I really enjoyed this book and how Felicity was able to bring the characters to life on the pages and allow the readers to feel their torment, conflicts, fears and passions. The imagery and the descriptive word play are so well developed that you feel you have been transported into the wilderness that the story is set in and feel the leaves under your feet and the cold air on your breath.
Nicolae is a werewolf and Tatyana is a vampire that he saves from hunters who threaten his peaceful existence on the mountain. Nicolae's long seated hatred for vampires and the cruelty that they imposed onto him and his kind plague him as he tends to her. However, for some reason he is drawn to her and tries to suppress the urges that are building up inside him. Tatyana on the other hand, has never experienced first hand any ill will to werewolves as her bloodline does not keep them as slaves. At times Tatyana is hurt by Nicolae's rough attitude and words to her as she feels that she has done no wrong to him. Later on as the two slowly get to know each other better Tatyana understands why Nicolae despises vampires so much.
The sexual tension between the two of them builds to the point that they wonder whether the other feels the same way. Of course they fear to ask each other how they feel to avoid being rejected thus, the tension builds between them until they cannot resist each other any longer.
It got to the point that I felt like screaming at them to give into what they felt in their hearts. Now I like my paranormal romance books to have lots of hot, sexy scenes and this book had great sexual build up, but only one sex scene. I wished that it had more then just the one. It took so long for them to finally give in to their desires that we were only given the one scene. Now some may prefer that and are ok with it, but I like my characters who crave each other and finally give in to have a little bit more action.
I really would love to see a part 2 to this story because I want to know where the relationship is going to take them and what adventures lie ahead for them. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all the romantics out there.
This is the second book I've read by Felicity E. Heaton and I'm quickly becoming a huge fan of hers. Not only is she an amazing writer but Hunter's Moon is about my favorite subject: werewolves! How could I go wrong? Add to that a real live pack of timber wolves and I'm in heaven. But that's not all! There's also a forbidden love story between two species who've been enemies since the dawn of time. There's just so much awesomeness crammed into this tiny package. I completely lost myself in this book and I didn't come up for air until I was finished.
The wolf pack is a side story in the overall scheme of things but for me, it added an extra wolfish element that I've not come across before. Nicolae is a loner but his heart lies with the pack and not the werewolves. He's spent decades with them developing a relationship with the alpha and earning their trust. Now they're like family. Whenever something is amiss in the woods the timber wolves and Nicolae look out for each other. I loved how they communicated with each other. This element really appealed to me because it linked werewolves and their wild brethren tightly together. My favorite kind of supernatural beasts are the ones that favor their animal side over their human one. There's just something about witnessing a human giving in to their primal instincts that makes me weak in the knees.
The blooming love story between Nicolae and Tatyana is also very moving. Both of their pasts are tainted with pain and suffering. Trust doesn't come easy to either of them and they've both pretty much given up on ever finding happiness. Add to that the seething hatred that exists between their two species and you're left with a match made in hell. Even though they both feel inexplicably drawn to each other they resist it tooth and nail. In both of their minds a werewolf and a vampire can never be together; the only thing that they should feel for each other is hate. But fate has other plans and forces them together against a common foe. They both savagely resist, which made me incredibly frustrated but it also made for a great story so I guess I can't complain!
Hunter's Moon is the ninth installment in the Vampires Realm series but it's not essential for you to have read the previous books to be able to enjoy this one. In fact, this is the first book of this series that I've read and I didn't feel lost at all. Felicity E. Heaton is a talented author who weaves captivating and well-written love stories that'll have you feeling a wide range of emotions. Her characters are well developed and life-like and her understanding of wolfish nature is phenomenal. Fans of paranormal romance will be swept off their feet by Hunter's Moon and werewolf fanatics will find themselves on cloud nine. Heaton is a hard working, independent author and if she's not already on your radar then I strongly recommend that you rectify that immediately!
2 I-know-remember-why-I-don’t-like-Felicity-Heaton-stars. Ok, so Hunter’s Moon was pretty bad, and although I don’t think many people these days would be interested in actually reading this crap, I’ll review it anyway so I can get my feelings off my chest.
Minor spoilers ahead:
Prose, pace and dialogue:
The prose is pretty much the biggest reason as to why I think Heaton isn’t a particularly talented author. This novella is around 130 pages, and if you combined them, only about 10 of them would consist of actual dialogue. The rest is spent on long suffering internal monologues that convey the same information to the reader over and over again, and painfully detailed descriptions of the environment that aren’t really necessary or interesting to read about. Oddly enough, despite the immense amount of time we spend in the character’s heads, there really isn’t much information about them. Some backstory is covered yes, but not enough, and the protagonists’ personalities aren’t clearly defined. I don’t think this is self-published, and yet there were a bunch of annoying grammatical errors that caught my eye and made the reading process even more painful. Another thing is Heaton’s overuse of alliteration. She uses the word “and” twenty times within the same paragraph, which any writer worth their salt knows is a no go. (“she went to the table and picked up the apple, and ate it” than kind of thing). Same goes for repeating the same word two or three times in the same sentence. Because of the lack of dialogue, the book feels ten times longer than it actually is, and the pace also suffers, as there are entire chapters where nothing happens and we simply keep getting the same information as before. (I know Nic is handsome and Tatyana’s hair is blonde, you don’t need to tell me that twenty-five times Felicity).
Plot/World building:
I think there was a semi decent story buried underneath all the fat, but it wasn’t interesting enough to me in its current form. Maybe with some editing it could turn into something readable, but it felt rather simplistic. That said, it wasn’t a terrible idea on paper, and the execution could’ve been worse, as there isn’t anything inherently wrong with a simple story. (The prose issue not withstanding). I do have to be fair and point out that this style of paranormal romance isn’t really in vogue right now, but I guess I can’t fault the book for it, as it is ten years old at least. If you like old school authors like Christine Feehan, maybe you would like it, but it’s not for me. I’ll give credit where credit is due, and say the world building wasn’t that bad. It’s intricate enough, and Heaton was able to cram plenty of it in a short amount of pages.
Characters:
I would say Tatyana is the weakest link in terms of characters. She is injured for the majority of the story, which means she comes across as a bit of a pansy who complains most of the time, so she didn’t endear herself to me. For a supposedly bad-ass vampire, she certainly lets her emotions get the better of her on numerous occasions, and her desperation for approval was rather grating, considering she was 150 years old. I did like that she could hold her own in a fight, despite everything I just said, and could be menacing when the timing required it. Sadly, her personality was rather hazy, and the little backstory we get on her doesn’t really explain why she would want to drop her entire life, friends and family included, as well as her job, to live in a random forest with some dude she met two days ago. We do get the impression she isn’t super happy with the current state of things, but literally any other course of action to improve her living conditions would’ve made more sense. Nic was slightly better written, but his feelings were all over the place, going from Snape levels of loathing, to Edward levels of obsession and creepiness within the span of four chapters. His backstory and personality were a tad richer, I liked his interactions with the timber wolf pack, and his feelings toward the other werewolves were decently realistic. When it came to Tatyana, I found his actions rather selfish and self-serving, rather than romantic. He’d been alone for so many years, that the idea of finally having someone to share his life with made sense, but he felt no remorse into guilt tripping this woman into abandoning her whole life, and possibly murdering local humans for blood just so she could stay with him. I thought him rather manipulative and unlikable at that point. (Especially since he was super annoyed at the beginning for having to steal blood bags from the local hospital, but he was totally cool with Tatyana killing for survival in a bigger city later on).
Romance:
There was a healthy dose of insta love and insta lust, so I can’t say the writing was great in regards to it. Because the story takes place within the span of a few days, there really isn’t anything to be done in order to make the romance realistic. It also became super sappy and tender towards the end, which wasn’t earned thanks to how poorly developed it was. I didn’t feel much chemistry between the characters, so I wasn’t particularly invested in their relationship. The one sex scene wasn’t that bad, so I’ll put the steam level at about a three. I honestly don’t know why this is tagged as erotica, because it really isn’t, but whatever.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this one. On top of everything I just said, it was way overpriced in my opinion, as the actual story ends at around 85%, so you’re getting even less pages than advertised.
Nicolae has hated vampires ever since his pack was captured, kept as slaves and tortured. He has never forgiven himself for being unable to save the others, as alpha it was his job to protect them but he is the only one who survived. It may be 100 years since he escaped but he has been suffering ever since, he may live near another werewolf pack but he refuses to join them and prefers keeping to himself. His only companionship comes from the local timber wolf pack who he has formed a close bond with. While out hunting he comes across a group of hunters and is immediately concerned for the safety of the wolves but after following them he soon discovers that their prey is a woman. Unable to let them kill her he steps in but when he discovers that she is a vampire he regrets getting involved. He should leave her to her fate but something stops him and he finds himself wanting to help her. Can he put aside his hatred of vampires and help Tatyana? Who are the mysterious hunters and what do they want from her?
Hunter's Moon is the 9th book in the Vampires Realm series but it is the first one that I've read. Usually I hate to read a series out of order but I was assured that these books are all stand alone and I didn't have any problems following the story. I enjoyed the book so much that I'll definitely be picking up the rest of the series though and am looking forward to finding out more about the vampire realm.
Nicolae is a dark and brooding hero, alpha to his core but also incredible sexy and definitely a hero to lust after. As you learn more about his past your heart will melt for him and you can't help but want him to have a happy ending. I loved his relationship with the timber pack, it has taken him years to gain their trust but now they are used to working together and he works hard to keep them safe. When he first discovers what Tatyana is his first instinct is to let the hunters have her but there is something deep inside him that refuses to let that happen. It isn't easy for him to trust her but as they slowly get to know each other I really enjoyed watching their feelings blossom.
Tatyana's bloodline has never kept werewolves as slaves so she finds it hard to understand Nicolae's attitude towards her. With him blowing hot and cold she is confused and annoyed but as she learns more about his past she starts to realise how much he has suffered. She hasn't had things easy either though and has reasons of her own not to trust him. She is on a mission to track down the hunters that killed someone close to her but then has every intention of returning home to the rest of her family when her task is complete. She wasn't looking for a relationship but there is something about Nicolae that she finds irresistible. The pair both fight their feelings but the sexual chemistry between them isn't something that can be avoided forever. They are both afraid of being hurt again so their relationship develops really slowly and I enjoyed the fact that they took time to get to know each other rather than acting on their attraction early on.
I loved the fact that they are both strong characters and they look out for each other. Tatyana may start off weak from injury but as she gains her strength she proves to be a kick arse character and protects Nicolae as much as he protects her. She certainly isn't a wimpy heroine and is worthy of her hot alpha male. The action scenes are well written and make it easy to picture what is happening. While there is only one sex scene it was worth the wait and the tension between the couple in the build up will definitely leave you fanning yourself. This is a great paranormal romance and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes a dark and dangerous alpha hero. I'm looking forward to devouring the rest of the series!
Hunter's Moon first off is the first book within Felicity Heaton's Vampire Realm that I picked up. I am familiar with Her Angel Series as well as Love Immortal. This particular book was listed as Vampire Realm 9 but it appears to be a stand alone so I didn't need to read the previous 8 in the series to figure out where I was. Let's just say I will be getting to Vampire Realm real soon. I really liked this wonderful story.
Nicolae is an alpha werewolf living in a cabin in a remote mountain range out of reach from normal civilization. He goes to town when he needs supplies and such but otherwise stays in his woods. We learn that Nicolae detests vampires and is carrying this nightmarish guilt that he was the lone survivor of his pack who tried to escape from the slavery of an evil torturous vampire clan called Tenebrae. We also learn that even though there are other packs within his area, Nicolae prefers to keep to himself with the exception of offering his help with healing the wounded(which is he is very skilled at doing and quite knowledgeable)or helping out the local timber wolf pack led by another alpha named Craig.
Tatyanna is a vampire of the Nocens clan who are quite progressive than the Tenebrae. They do not keep slaves and they use science to try and better their clan like developing antidotes for the sick or using firearms instead of their natural animalistic behaviors to fight enemies. Tatyanna is on a mission to seek venegence after 4 Hunters killed her sire and finds herself in trouble when she is shot with 2 poisonous arrows by these Hunters in none other than Nicolae's territory.
Of course, guess who finds her and brings her back to his cabin? Knowing she is a vampire and somehow drawn to her will Nicolae be able to help her? Is Tatyanna the one he needs to heal his own wounds of his horrible past? Will a passion ignite within them that is strong enough to get past her venegence and his acceptance that not all vampires are evil and that he is not at fault for letting his pack perish while he survived? Will being the only vampire in wolf territory cause problems between Nicolae and the other packs? And what about those Hunter's? What are they doing in these parts and what are they really after? hmmmm...Add a little sexual tension and a little danger and this vampire/wolf love story is just the ticket you need to keep you quite captivated and satisfied. And like I said.. I ready to enter the Vampires Realm... are you?
The past, sometimes defined as "time gone by" or the "history of what went before," is something everyone has experienced. For some, however, the scars left from a long ago event last longer than others.
Nicolae is just such a person. He's retreated to a small town in the wilderness of Canada to live in peace and escape the haunting memories of his brutal captivity as a compound werewolf in Europe a century ago.
Many years of patience has earned Nicolae a place of trust among the local timber wolf pack, and he enjoys running across the mountainsides with his fellow animal brethren. During his latest sprint under the moonlight, Nicolae encounters an unusual group of hunters in the wolves' territory.
He scents blood and tracks the hunters' wounded prey. After finding an injured woman, he's startled to discover she's actually a vampire—the species responsible for his own personal nightmares. Though he considers leaving her to die and thereby quenching his thirst for revenge, he saves the vampire to protect the wolves. If humans find any mauled remains, they'll come after the wolves and exterminate them.
Nicolae's decision to help the vampire Tatyana complicates his life. The wolf pack is angered at losing the vampire prey as food, the local werewolf pack feels betrayed because Nicolae's chosen to protect a vampire, and Nicolae's own traitorous heart keeps forgetting Tatyana is a vampire—someone the Law Keepers and his conscience say he should never become attached to. Breaking that law means death.
Talk about your problematic conflict!
The plot for HUNTER'S MOON hits the forest floor running and never lets up. A group of soldiers with an ulterior motive, a werewolf pack bent on protecting their own, and enough romantic sparks to light up the night like the 4th of July keep the reader chasing each twist and turn.
So, let's talk about the characters. Tatyana is such a likeable vampire, with her desire to help others and her very human vulnerability of wanting to be liked. And then there's Nicolae. I love shifters—especially the dark and brooding type. There's just something sexy about an alpha male that loves a woman to distraction, despite his own animal instincts!
Want an action-packed adventure filled with romance? Read HUNTER'S MOON.
Review originally written for The Romance Reviews.
I have insane cover lust for this book. I mean, I already have a thing for werewolves so when you throw in a strong, muscled back and give me a reason to stare at it ... bliss. I have to admit that the only drawback to my Kindle is that I don't get to stare at these gorgeous covers like I can with a physical book. I'll get over it. Or I'll start stalking authors until they give me cover flats just to get rid of me. Oh, look! Now I have a plan.
Enough about my stalking habits, let's get down to the review. Nicolae was absolutely swoon-worthy. The poor guy has been through hell and he's come out of it stronger. His innate sense of fair-play won't allow him to walk away from someone in need. He's content to stand on the fringes of the groups around him despite the fact that he has the power of an Alpha. He's just... sexy-hot. I might have been swayed by the cover, but I'm going to stand by what I wrote. Nicolae is hot, sexy, damaged and infinitely interesting.
Tatyana was harder for me to get a handle on. Her bloodline is more progressive than some of the others, choosing to try and change with the times rather than cling doggedly to the old ways. She feels an attraction to Nicolae that she can't wrap her head around. Above everything, thought, she's desperately trying to prove to her bloodline and those around her that she's not weak.
I like that Nicolae has been living for so long on the edges of society that he really has no clue what's going on in the supernatural world. He's distanced himself, with good reason, and the world has moved on without him. Tatyana has been in the thick of things all along. She's working to stop the hunters from wiping out her people. Yet, it's Nicolae who knows of old medicine that can stop the poison the hunters use. I like the idea that the old things are still useful in the world, even as things are moving forward and becoming more complex.
I guess I'm trying to say that on top of the sexy cover (allow me to pause for a good stare now, thankyouverymuch), Nicolae and Tatyana's story worked for me. They're hot together, they both have issues they have to work around and there's just something about the forbidden romance between a vampire and a werewolf that makes me smile.
This book starts out strong, and caught me up right away.
Nicolae is a lone werewolf who wants nothing more than the peace and solitude running with the local timber wolf pack brings. His night of play is interrupted by human hunters on his mountain. Nicolae scouts them, and from what he can make out, they look like special ops soldiers but they carry cross bows and knives. They are also speaking about finding "her," and they shot "her." So Nicolae finds the "her" they were talking about, and imagine his surprise when she turns out to be a vampire.
Nicolae was abused and enslaved by vampires in his past, so to say that he hates vampires is a bit of an understatement. However, he does notice she is not of the bloodline that enslaved and slaughtered his pack so many years ago.
So Nicolae rescues the vampire female, and even goes so far as to tend her wounds and care for her. At a couple points he deals with the local werewolf pack telling them that what he does on his property is his business. He is soo much more alpha than the alpha, but he wants nothing to do with a pack, since a century before he'd lost his pack to the vampires.
Right about here, we find out more about Tatyana, and what those hunters being in Nicolae's little slice of Canadian heaven really means. Those hunters are using vampire and werewolf blood to enhance themselves and then kill the vamps and wolves. The story has a little bit of a slow period right after that, and it really was slow. But I think it was supposed to be as Tatyana and Nicolae were learning to trust each other. Trust didn't come easily, and they danced around their attraction for a while as well. I don't think it was until Tatyana was attacked by the local alpha that Nicolae realized the depths and importance of what he was feeling. I enjoyed the ending, and I will definitely read this author again.
**book provided by the author for review ***book is in a series but works fine as a stand=alone
This was my first Vampires Realm book as I read this as part of the shifter box set from Heaton. I enjoyed it a lot, and it got me interested in the universe. I prefer the Eternal Mates universe, but this one is good. I liked the characters and felt sympathetic toward them. I liked watching them heal as they came together. I haven't read the other VR books so I don't know how this fits into them, but it's definitely doable as a standalone. Good read.
Hunter's Moon is a beautiful tale of forbidden love. Two tortured souls are brought together by chance and bound together by love. A great read for those who lust for heartwarming romance with hot sex and a little action in their books.
I re-read this book as part of a challenge, I am so glad that I did; I had forgotten how engaging, complex and gripping Ms Heaton's Vampire Realm series is. This book made me smile, chuckle, growl (at the prejudice and injustices prevalent in this paranormal world), cry and, of course, my heart warmed at the romance and my tummy tingled at the passion.
I think I will re-read the whole series to re-acquaint myself with the vampire houses and the romances and write full reviews about each book and post them to my blog.
2014 Reveiw Wow! Another great tale of romance, passion & prejudice against a back story of hunters v preternatural. A real page turner that I just couldn't put down.
Enjoyable but this needed to be set over a longer period of time. It was hard to accept that he would fall so quickly for a vampire when he had suffered so badly at their hands . But perhaps that's because I've read the dark Prince in eternal mates series and it took a bit of time for the hero to fall for the heroine in that book.
This book was such a wonderful read. It jumped right into the action because it is novella length. I loved how the tension felt as the hero's, Nicolei in his wolf form, heart pounded and he held his breath to track the strange hunters who were tracking something through his territory.
Nicolei is an old once enslaved by vampires werewolf from Europe who has found peace and freedom in the Canadian wilderness where he cavorts with a regular wolf pack and lives near a werewolf pack, but not part of the pack.
After the hunter's move on, Nic stumbles across the wounded female vampire, Tatyana, that they were hunting. She has been shot twice with poison-tipped arrows. Nicolei has an internal struggle over leaving her to die because he hates her kind for what they did to him, but his conscience and an odd attraction to the female compel him to help her.
Helping her is not easy because she mistrusts him as much as he mistrusts her. They slowly learn that they may have been wrong about some things having to do with both of their races. The trust builds as slowly as wounds heal in the meantime the hunters are still about and the local weres aren't too excited to have a vampire staying nearby. For Nicolei and Tatyana, the real trouble is what they will do with their growing forbidden feelings for each other.
The plot was well done and pacing does not drag nor race through too quickly. I really loved how the trust and love built slowly and was not so instant as to make me incredulous. There is definitely a real feeling for what they both must overcome and get past. The exterior threats are there, but this really was more about the romance.
The characters were people that I could really like and with whom I could feel a sympathy for their viewpoints and situations. I liked the alternating points of view.
Though this one is part of a series called Vampire's Realm, it could be read as a stand alone as long as one doesn't mind a few hints to other vampires from Tatyana and Nic. The world building is explained well enough in the books so one is not lost at all.
If you like a good forbidden vampire/werewolf romance, give this one a try.
This is the sixth book in the Vampire Realms Romance series. I loved it!
Nicolae is a fascinating character. He is a werewolf, living in Canada. He is the perfect Alpha wolf warrior, but deeply wounded by his past. I loved his protective streak. He has a tendency to over think things, but I suppose his past makes him doubt himself somewhat.
Tatyana is a Nocens vampire, on the trail of genetically enhanced vampire hunters. I loved this character. She is tenacious, stubborn and quite deadly in her own way.
This series is getting better! This story is exciting and the world building has gotten a lot better. I struggled to put the book down, and read it in one sitting! The characters have a depth to them and the back stories are quite interesting. All the books in the series so far have been set in Europe, but it was nice to have a change of scenery / continent. The hunters are suitably evil and dangerous. The story is full of danger, violence and romance. I loved the way the author described the fight scene between Nicolae and Craig, the local werewolf Alpha. It was really intense and reminded me of how real life wolves (not to mention dogs) snap, snarl and bite when in a fight. I actually felt sorry for Beth, who has a crush on Nicolae. However, I don't think she would have been right for him, as she seemed a bit submissive. Nicolae likes his lady to have a backbone, and Tatyana has steel running up hers! The heat between these two characters just about sets the pages alight! The word incendiary comes to mind! And, although this book could be read as a stand alone, I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Masquerade, as soon as possible!
Felicity Heaton has written another fantastic paranormal romance. I love her writing style, which is fast paced, exciting and believable. She is number one on my Favourite Authors List.
As this is an erotic paranormal romance with explicit scenes, I do not recommend this book to younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances full of action, adventure, sexy vampires and even sexier werewolves. - Lynn Worton
Nicolae is a lone wolf, after escaping the vampire clan who held him as a slave he made his way to Canada. Although there is another werewolf pack in the area, he feels more connected to the local pack of timber wolves. One night while running with the wolf pack he comes upon a group of hunters, and then stumbles upon the scent of blood. He finds what he thinks is a woman, but soon realizes she is vampire. His feelings are at war, he doesn’t know if he should let her perish or save one of the kind that enslaved him.
My heart broke for Nicolae, he lost so much went through atrocities that cannot be imagined, and now lives a life of solitude. Tatyana, the vampire that Nicolae saves isn’t without loss. She seeks to find the hunters who killed her sire. She has always felt weak, and like she didn’t belong. Even though she has these feelings she remains loyal to her family.
Hunter’s Moon is more of a romantic story than some of the others in the series. Heaton pairs two souls who seek solace from their loneliness. The love between vampires and werewolves is forbidden, but Nicolae and Tatyana look past this and listen to what is in their hearts. Heaton wrote what I think is a beautiful love story.
Hunter’s Moon has the ability to be a standalone book, but it fits nicely into the Vampires Realm series. I am a huge Felicity Heaton fan, and paranormal lovers won’t want to miss out on reading all of the Vampires Realm books.

If you are looking for an interesting, action, adventure, paranormal romantic book then you have to read Hunter’s Moon by F.E. Heaton. Heaton provides a wonderful paranormal romance filled with action and romance. This time it’s between great lovable characters that will melt away your heart. Although its part of a series, these book can be read stand alone which is great and will make you want to read the other books in the series. The story follows that of werewolf Nicolae and tortured past when he escaped from compound. He finds Tatyana, beautiful and fierce vampire. Tatyana thinks that this might be a werewolf that she is used to, but boy was she wrong. Both on missions, they both find that they have a lot in common than they realized. Heaton will knock your socks off with this series, I was blown away at the plot, the characters, and the dialogue. A must read for those who love paranormal romance. Heaton’s at the top of my list for vampires and werewolves.
This was another good read from Felicity Heaton, and I enjoyed the plot, storyline and characters in this novel. It is well written, and still has ties to some of the previous books in the series, although I think you could read this as a at and-alone book if you wanted to. It focussed on the issue of forbidden love, a werewolf and vampire falling in love with each other, and having to overcome the adversities in their way. It was a heartfelt tale in places, soft and endearing, but with a balance of kick arse action to keep it interesting.
Definitely worth a read, and the only reason I didn't think it made it to 4 stars was because I had given four stars to other books in this series, and I didn't think this one was as good as some of the others!
Nicolae has been hiding in the deep forests of Canada for a hundred years from his previous life as a collared werewolf in Europe, keeping to himself with only the local timber wolf pack as neighbors.
After tracking four human hunters, he finds an injured young women in the middle of the forest and take her back to his cabin. Then he finds out she’s one of the hated vampires, but he can’t seem to hate her. Even when it causes troubles for him with a nearby pack of werewolves and the vampire hunters.
I love the interaction between Nicolae and the timber wolves. It’s like they consider him their guardian.
Fave Scenes: 1) making the antidote, getting the blood, the wolf fight and Tatyana’s sniper skills.
It seems I am always rating Felicity Heaton's books 5 stars, the reason being I just LOVE them. Hunter's moon is another book in the Vampire's realm series. This is such a romantic twist on a Werewolf/vampire romance. The characters are wonderful and you will fall very much in love with them. If you are looking for dark heroes, sexy scenes and much more. I would suggest you check out Felicity's books. There is something for everyone!
This story is about a werewolf who rescues and helps save a vampire. He's always hated vampires and it goes against all of his beliefs to help her. His head says to help her heal and send her on her way, but his heart is saying to keep her close and help her achieve her goal of hunting down and killing the enhanced hunters who killed her sire. I thoroughly enjoyed the book from the first word to the last. Felicity Heaton is an amazing author.
I've mentioned how frustrated I am that the series has sort of abandoned Prophecy. At the same time "this" story was GREAT!!!! I really appreciated Felicity's effort in the drama to this tale. Not only do the Vamp & Werewolf have their issues, but their drama is linked to the local pack and the local werewolves. But it doesn't end there, they deal with those darn vampire hunters. I am happily pleased by how this story progressed and ended. BRAVO!!!!
Felicity Heaton/Anastasia Dawson is an amazing author. I have read more than 50 of her books and have loved them all. Her books include, Vampires, Succubus, witches, angels, shape-shifters, human hunters, dragons, demons, clones, and much more. I hope you enjoy her stories as much as I do.
