Suspense at it's best.
If you enjoy a murder mystery with a love story intertwined, this is a must read. Characters you are involved with and don't want to quit reading until their problems are solved. Sam us a strong woman who had overcome much adversity in her life,and Danny Hastings return to town has amped that up a notch.But

I absolutely loved this book! It had just the right amount of action and romance to keep me from not putting it down!

An intense and at times suspenseful read with plenty of striking visual descriptions.
When a land developer goes missing in small town in Florida many lives are affected and it ends up bringing the past front and center.
Samantha Collins has always felt she lived in a small minded town. After the death of her abusive alcoholic father there were whispers that maybe she’d done it. So when she found herself pregnant in her early 20’s she did her best to protect herself and her child from any more gossip. Now 11 years later she runs her father’s Marina and Fish camp along with her mother. She is an extremely strong woman that also catches gators that have wondered into people’s backyards or that are suspected of killing. The description the author gives of one of these was so realistic you felt you were right there watching her. Sam’s refuses to sell to the land developer when he shows up on her doorstep and threatens the man if he doesn’t leave he will be sorry. Problem is he goes missing the next day and Sam was the last to see him alive.
Danny Hasting is that land developer’s partner and when he finds out he is missing he goes to the small town to find out what happened to him. He and Sam had short fling years ago and he’s never forgotten her. But he doesn’t know Sam has been hiding a secret from him all of these years..
As the search for what happened to Danny’s friend intensifies it also uncovers that this current disappearance may be related to others and even some past deaths.
There was a secondary romance between the mom and the sheriff who also played a big part during the investigation. The author gives us plenty of suspects but also did a good job of keeping the identity hidden until she chose to reveal it.
This was my first time reading this author and she kept me turning the pages with the suspense. Looking forward to reading more from this author.
